still pissed they stop selling the Yaris in Canada. best bang for the buck car any youngster can get. we would've got a GR Yaris instead of this or maybe both.
People talking about them catching fire, but probably love EVs 😂. 2 out of about 10,000 caught fire. Less than 1%. Meanwhile you have recalls on vehicles for catching on fire, but people buy them. I'll be buying one of these, unless dealers want to be dumb and mark them up.
Toyota didn't ruin anything! As you said at 0:11 "it can be OPTIONED with an automatic..." Meaning it's available with a manual if that's what you want! Nobody is pointing a gun to your head to buy it with auto. So enough with the BS.

It seems like all the car journalists are leaning towards auto cars and electric now a days. It’s almost like them saying driving manual is a chore and if you drive auto it’s “easier”. I think some are missing the point about driving manual to begin with.
The Golf R has more features (dynamic damping, power seats, ventilated seats, heads up display, ambient lighting, folding mirrors, LSD, has a center console), significantly better interior (more spacious despite being same size, has more leather, has higher quality leather, better ACC, better heated steering wheel, better heated seats, better gauge cluster, higher quality displays), more comfortable, does not have cooling issues, more power, more cylinders, more displacement (therefore higher ceiling for tuning), better power delivery and torque curve, has basically the same track times despite being not track focused and more of a refined and daily driver. And that's assuming the GRC differential doesn't overheat which it will after 3 laps, or the engine catch on fire which toyota will deny warranty because you went beyond 85 mph. In Canada a fully loaded Golf R is the same price as a GRC core edition with the circuit edition being 10k more than the Golf R. The GRC doesnt even have power seats which is just ridiculous for a modern car costing over 40k. At what point do we say "it's more fun to drive!" is not enough to make up for all the other shortcomings? It's a really tough sell, the value proposition just isn't there. It's a lesser car in almost every aspect objectively.
I looked hard at Golf R but my friends who had Mk7 said that they were not fun to drive and that they made the interior / infotainment and buttons even worse in the Mk8. Another friend who has had pretty much every car told me he wouldn't get the Golf R, but is either getting the GRC or CTR. The Golf R seems like a great daily but it's not an exact comparison to GRC.
After dealing with GR carnage it’s clear why Toyota optioned an automatic transmission making it more appealing to drivers who would use this as a daily driver without worrying about money shifting. The pricing for AT premium is out of touch as it’s still a Toyota.
