Merhaba boltontrotter! That "ki" makes a sort of relative clause as in "in your opinion, how is the food that is in this restaurant". It is kind of similar to saying "bu restoranda yemekler nasıl?" in this context. So it is normal that the translation came out the same. The "ki" replaces the previously mentioned thing such as in "Ankara'da evler geniş ama İstanbul'daki evler çok daha küçük.". Here "ki" replaces "evler" from the previous phrase.
