DRIVING 100 MILES TO TRY *THE BEST* COFFEE

- OKAY so today I took on the daunting task of driving literally 100 miles to try what people say is the ~best coffee ever~ and that is Dutch Bros. I have heard the rumors of the coffee being addicting, the employees being the best, and the overall experience being a favorite by anyone who is a regular, SO I decided to try it for myself. I forgot to take into account that 100 miles is actually a very long journey to take especially when you begin driving through the literal desert. Where should I go next???

to answer the water question: civil engineering student here! sitting at the south of the mojave desert, apple valley gets almost all of its water from the mojave river, through a few suppliers. water is stored in tanks as well as pumped directly to and from the mojave groundwater basin. interestingly, the town just won a lawsuit in february against liberty utilities (a division of the large algonquin power & utilities corporation) to reclaim water systems that the company had been exorbitantly raising prices for. the more you know! :)

I noticed that right away as well. I suspect that many instinctively, and possibly even unconsciously, tone down their “gay” voice in unfamiliar situations as a defense mechanism. It’s kind of sad that people have been conditioned to do that as it says something about the world in which we live.

I relate to this video so much because I live in Bakersfield Ca of all places, so anything special I want randomly is an hour and some change drive to L.A. Ironically we just got a Dutch bros. recently, but I haven’t tried it yet, but now I definitely will. Some L.A. staples I will occasionally travel for if I’m not already on a trip down south to Disney anyway: Philippe’s, Original Tommy’s, Chronic Taco, King Taco, Western Bagel, Santoro’s Submarine Sandwich Shop, and I’m sure there are a few others I’m not thinking of right now.

Actually not all of them are! There are ones in Grants Pass where it originated called Dutch houses where you can go inside (at least pre Covid)

A lot of water in southern California comes from northern California by aqueduct, but we don't have a lot of water either- just more than southern California. At least that's what my mom told me when I was little. There is one highway that goes up and down the state where you can see the aqueduct but I can't think of the name right now.

Hey Chris, I’m sure you have a lot of people you follow who are in recovery or maybe on the way and I would love to hear more about your personal ways to keep yourself sober. One way isn’t the only way but as someone in recovery myself (while also being 30 lol) it inspires me to see how everyone does it. Of course not saying your way is my way but just understanding how you handle it

Carabello Coffee - Newport, Kentucky (Cincinnati, OH) - it’s insanely good. Their coffee bar (Analog) is like a cocktail bar experience but with their coffee creations. It’s art.

OH theres this place called Rad coffee in Upland California. It’s Kinda near LA. They may have one in LA too. But it’s super cute and they have a really cool aesthetic.

Out West, snow falls on the Rockies, Wasatch, high plateau in Utah and Arizona. It melts and flows west, mainly in the Colorado River. This river is dammed to form lakes. Water is taken out and feed to the Western States. Each takes their allotment.

The water is piped in from the Colorado River & the Owens River in Northern CA which is why LA’s water is honestly pretty gross because it has to travel and also will sit in retention ponds in the hills between LA & the valley

I grew up in L.A. so I know my way around there, but I do feel your pain in trying to navigate the freeways. The SNL skits “The Californians” have it SO right! But it can’t be as bad as when I lived in England for a year. My God, those people drive on the wrong side of the road. Try to get used to that. And the Roundabouts--there are people who have gone into the Roundabouts and never came out. True.
