The Momento Zero Grande model is also a piston filler from Leonardo. That's my preferred Leo both for size and piston :) I haven't tried the Magico yet but I've always loved this pietra salata material. I am so glad you treated yourself to it. You deserve it. May it bring you many many years of happy writing. Also, I believe it may come with ink because it's the gold nib model. My two gold nib Leos both came with ink.

That's funny. I am looking at the Leonardo Supernova special edition 2023 for 2 weeks now. Haven't ordered yet because it is expensive. But I laid in bed for 4 weeks now and had to cancel my trip to London. I really want this pen. Perhaps I order this weekend. If you needed this gift for yourself and you love it. It is okay. I do not own a fountain pen but I recall at the age of 14, I went to Office Depot with my parents and passed the fountain pens display. I could not take my eyes off of how beautiful the more expensive pens were and I did not understand why someone will pay so much for a pen...now I know. It's beautiful! Your excitment towards the box and the packaging is my excitement. I think we all do it and seeing you do it too makes me smile. I think you've always been quite modest towards yourself and considering the new lease and the breakup, you most certainly are allowed the retail therapy. Why do rewards have to stop when we are adults? As long as we are responsible when doing it (i.e. fits in our budgets and doesn't put us in debt) and not rewarding ourselves everytime we go to bed on time or use the potty, I think it's perfectly ok!

Depending on the price point on pens and brands, some include ink bottles with them. My Pilot 823, Montegrappa and a Homosapiens all came with an ink bottle. Crack it open and enjoy the blue!

I had to stop the video and comment. Back in the 80s and 90s when I was dating, I would buy myself a nice piece of jewelry when I had a break up. Not diamonds, but for a college girl and a new teacher on a small budget, a nice necklace or earrings. It is good to treat yourself.

I got the exact same pen (but with a Stub nib) second hand (but practically mint) recently, and yes... it's so nice I'm no longer chasing my dream Italian pen (Visconti Homo Sapiens)... maybe just a very nice vintage #6 nib that will fit with the Jovo nib unit this comes with. The shape and size are perfect (for me) and the piston-filler makes the price more than worth it (plus I got it cheaper since it was second hand, only inked once). I ouched for the Leonardo wrench last week, so maybe another Momento Magico is gonna be in my future... hoping version 3 colorways look great as well, and they keep the smaller ink window, too (version 1 had a larger ink window that I didn't like).
Leonardo makes many piston fillers. Any of the Grande models, the Magico, and many of their special material pens are piston fillers. i love the Italian pens. Most of fountain pens are Italian, but I only have one Leonardo. It's a nice surprize. Good think you didn't buy the Leonardo Blue ink. It's a wonderful cerulean like blue, somewhat like Kon-Peki. So I think that the pen companies just include inks with some boxes, unless it is a special pen. I once got a Stipula Green ink with a Stipula pen that was tucked under the pen bed. Pen Chalet told me that some boxes have inks, some don't. they have no idea which box had inks. In this case though, they would have known. Beautiful looking pen and color, and I personally enjoy the writing experience more with an ebonite feed, as I am sure you will also. Congrats on your lease, and hope this pen brings you years of enjoyment.
