Clothes don't cost that much. I was buying my own clothes at 15 because I'd been working cleaning peoples houses and mowing lawns. My parents didn't have money to buy me clothes yet I was one of the best dressed people at my school. You get more opportunities when you dress well.

This man's issue is not his clothes. He has a problem with choosing the right type of woman for himself. He might be going after the more glamorous/refined/dolled up kind of women. I have two opinions on this: -Have three categories of clothes: casual, formal and a mixture of both. Casual is for stuff you're comfortable with and have already gone on a few dates and are just going for a coffee or something. Formal is for a fancy dinner or an important event where, even if its a bit uncomfortable at first, you'll get used to it during the event and the only time you'll complain is when you get home. A mixture of both is in case you want to be comfortable in your clothes, but still want to impress. -it depends on the location. If you're going to a 5-star restaurant, then yeah, don't show up in jeans and a tank top. But if its for a first, small date just to see what kind of women she is, im not going to wear a suit to freaking Starbucks!
Also, so to ramble, but I know most people can attest to the fact that even when you dress your best....you never really get the attention you want. But whenever you come out the house just looking regular and chill, that's when people want to look your way and holler at you. That's because when you "dress for others" you give off kind of a desperate vibe or this "look at me attitude". But when you're just chill, like a V-neck, some tennis jeans and sweats. I work as a funeral director and dressing well is part of the job. I usually wear whatever I have on all day after work as I'm not going to change if I have plans later on. Women most definitely do respond to a well dressed man. I get a lot more looks and glances if I am dressed in a suit than I do if I am in my casual clothes. Steve is right in that aspect. BUT all the clothes in the world won't help that guy because he has a little boy's attitude "If she's worth my time..." I actually believe Steve's advice, though some dont seem to enjoy it. You dont neccessarily have to dress in an uncomfortable tux, but theres such a difference to casual and formal wear. Whether its a suit, or just a nice looking dress shirt with nice pants and shoes. Dont change how you dress for someone else is true, but you can always find sophisticated and/or fancy clothes that fit your style for that special night out :3
I dress how I like. I dress in jeans, runners, tshirt most of the time, jumper jacket if its cold. If I'm going out I wear the same clothes, throw on a shirt, I look just fine. I've never NEVER had a woman bitch at me or give me shit for how I dress. My clothes aren't what make me, I make myself. I've had a few really decent relationships, almost married once, and clothes never came into the equation. If a woman doesn't like how I dress, I say fuck her, and I have before and I ended one relationship because she told me I had to be clean shaven, ALL THE TIME. Thats not who I am. So I walked. I wouldnt expect a women to wear a dress all day, I expect them to dress comfortably around me and accept me to be the same way. If I want to wear my tshirt and combats and a pair of beat up old runners then I will, and if she wants to dress how she feels best I wont say a word. Respect comes down to people not clothing. Biggest assholes I've ever come across have been dressed well, in expensive suits, bought with other peoples money. I'd sooner trust someone dressed comfortably then someone dressed to impress. There is nothing wrong with liking to be comfortable. BUT while you haven't had any women complain about the way you dress, you probably haven't had one compliment your attire either. There is a NOTICEABLE difference in the way women perceive men who are dressed any kind of way and men who are dressed to impress. The fact that you don't care about pleasing the women in your life by dressing up may in fact speak to your character. It's not all about you. You could dress up because SHE would like to see you dressed up. Women get dressed up - buying dresses, high heels, styling their hair, the whole nine yards to make the man/men in their lives happy. Men have an obligation to do the same. No one is saying you have to wear a suit and tie ALL the time, every single day. But it also doesn't to hurt to throw on a nice suit at least once a week if only to show to show the woman in your life that you care about what she thinks of your appearance.
My only problem is the "No woman is worth it" attitude. If you really do like her and want the relationship to work, sacrifices will be made. SilverBrush1 In the past 8 years I've had 2 long term relationships, the current one is only a year old and the other one only came to an end because of the distance involved so I know how relationships work and changing who I am and who I consider myself to be does not keep a relationship from going south. I don't nor will I ever treat and or speak to a woman as an object or something to own and I would also not expect someone to change who they are to suit me, be it wearing clothes they don't like, changing their hair or their attitude. My stubble makes me who I am because it makes me comfortable, I hate being clean shaven and I hate being beardy, ones to clean and ones to itchy. I always make this clear with people who I intend on going out with, usually as part of the conversation when my beard is brought up which often it is, I don't know why its not like its an odd thing. I have made many scarifies for relationships, but I will never, ever scarifies who I am for the sake of keeping someone with me, if they can't accept me for who I am, then is it really worth it? Or will I end up changing and later resenting them for the changes they had me make. It took me years to be comfortable with myself and to become the person I am and I refuse outright to give that up for anyone else, because at the end of the day, I've to live with myself, those people can leave but then who is left, me. People come and go and with the population of the world I'm fully aware I will never find "the one", but I might find someone who is next to perfect, who accepts me for me and I accept them for who they are. It's not like I'd refuse to dress up for a special occasion, I love my suit, I love my good shirt, pants and shoes, but I wouldn't wear them all the time. If I'm not comfortable with me, how can I expect to be comfortable with someone else. You can make all the excuses you want for "dressing up" or "dressing to impress" but if you're not comfortable you won't be the best you can be. I've gone to job interviews in a suit (minus the jacket) and not gotten the job because I felt uncomfortable during the interview which reflects poorly on me, but I've gone in my jeans, a clean polo t-shirt and gotten the jobs because I felt confident and myself. The clothes don't make the man, the man makes himself and the clothes just reinforce that and if you need a suit and shirt to feel good then you go for it, more power to you, but for me, not gunna happen.

You can own a couple of suits, but in order to wear one almost every day, you do need to have a lot of money...unless those women and you, would be OK with a man wearing raggedy suits, which I doubt would be the case. I remember watching this episode before and after scrolling through these comments all I can do is shake my head. Me personally as a young woman I feel that if I am to go out on a date with a young man I would want him to dress for the occasion. I get what a lot of people are saying and what Steve is saying too. As young woman I would want my date to be dressed comfortably but I would expect them to put a little effort into his appearance because I would put it into mine. For another example if we decide we are going on a date to an amusement park or mini golf or something like that I wouldn't expect him to dress up in a suit or anything. Suits are made for formal events. Funerals, Job interviews, business meetings, weddings, and certain kinds of dates (NOT casual first dates.) Wearing one go to the gas station or to a night class where everyone is wearing hoodies would make you look just as out of place and socially stupid as if you wore pajamas to an interview. His advice that you should wear a suit all the time is ridiculous period. I have two opinions on this:
-Have three categories of clothes: casual, formal and a mixture of both. Casual is for stuff you're comfortable with and have already gone on a few dates and are just going for a coffee or something. Formal is for a fancy dinner or an important event where, even if its a bit uncomfortable at first, you'll get used to it during the event and the only time you'll complain is when you get home. A mixture of both is in case you want to be comfortable in your clothes, but still want to impress.
-it depends on the location. If you're going to a 5-star restaurant, then yeah, don't show up in jeans and a tank top. But if its for a first, small date just to see what kind of women she is, im not going to wear a suit to freaking Starbucks!
Also, so to ramble, but I know most people can attest to the fact that even when you dress your best....you never really get the attention you want. But whenever you come out the house just looking regular and chill, that's when people want to look your way and holler at you. That's because when you "dress for others" you give off kind of a desperate vibe or this "look at me attitude". But when you're just chill, like a V-neck, some tennis jeans and sweats. People see you in your most authentic form. THAT'S appealing.

I actually believe Steve's advice, though some dont seem to enjoy it. You dont neccessarily have to dress in an uncomfortable tux, but theres such a difference to casual and formal wear. Whether its a suit, or just a nice looking dress shirt with nice pants and shoes. Dont change how you dress for someone else is true, but you can always find sophisticated and/or fancy clothes that fit your style for that special night out :3
I dress how I like. I dress in jeans, runners, tshirt most of the time, jumper jacket if its cold.
If I'm going out I wear the same clothes, throw on a shirt, I look just fine. I've never NEVER had a woman bitch at me or give me shit for how I dress. My clothes aren't what make me, I make myself. I've had a few really decent relationships, almost married once, and clothes never came into the equation.

Biggest assholes I've ever come across have been dressed well, in expensive suits, bought with other peoples money. I'd sooner trust someone dressed comfortably then someone dressed to impress. But again, thats just me.
There is nothing wrong with liking to be comfortable. BUT while you haven't had any women complain about the way you dress, you probably haven't had one compliment your attire either. There is a NOTICEABLE difference in the way women perceive men who are dressed any kind of way and men who are dressed to impress. The fact that you don't care about pleasing the women in your life by dressing up may in fact speak to your character. It's not all about you. You could dress up because SHE would like to see you dressed up.
Women get dressed up - buying dresses, high heels, styling their hair, the whole nine yards to make the man/men in their lives happy. Men have an obligation to do the same.
No one is saying you have to wear a suit and tie ALL the time, every single day. But it also doesn't to hurt to throw on a nice suit at least once a week if only to show to show the woman in your life that you care about what she thinks of your appearance.
My only problem is the "No woman is worth it" attitude. If you really do like her and want the relationship to work, sacrifices will be made. It's great that you are very in touch with yourself, but if you don't want to change even a little bit, then any girl you go out with will have to have no opinion whatsoever, or just be mute. But my only huge problem is that you speak of us as objects. We are living beings, and if we don't like something someone does, we have a right to. And besides, does your stubble really make you who you are? Shaving doesn't change you completely.
SilverBrush1 In the past 8 years I've had 2 long term relationships, the current one is only a year old and the other one only came to an end because of the distance involved so I know how relationships work and changing who I am and who I consider myself to be does not keep a relationship from going south.
I don't nor will I ever treat and or speak to a woman as an object or something to own and I would also not expect someone to change who they are to suit me, be it wearing clothes they don't like, changing their hair or their attitude.
My stubble makes me who I am because it makes me comfortable, I hate being clean shaven and I hate being beardy, ones to clean and ones to itchy. I always make this clear with people who I intend on going out with, usually as part of the conversation when my beard is brought up which often it is, I don't know why its not like its an odd thing.
I have made many scarifies for relationships, but I will never, ever scarifies who I am for the sake of keeping someone with me, if they can't accept me for who I am, then is it really worth it? Or will I end up changing and later resenting them for the changes they had me make. It took me years to be comfortable with myself and to become the person I am and I refuse outright to give that up for anyone else, because at the end of the day, I've to live with myself, those people can leave but then who is left, me. People come and go and with the population of the world I'm fully aware I will never find "the one", but I might find someone who is next to perfect, who accepts me for me and I accept them for who they are.
It's not like I'd refuse to dress up for a special occasion, I love my suit, I love my good shirt, pants and shoes, but I wouldn't wear them all the time. If I'm not comfortable with me, how can I expect to be comfortable with someone else. You can make all the excuses you want for "dressing up" or "dressing to impress" but if you're not comfortable you won't be the best you can be. I've gone to job interviews in a suit (minus the jacket) and not gotten the job because I felt uncomfortable during the interview which reflects poorly on me, but I've gone in my jeans, a clean polo t-shirt and gotten the jobs because I felt confident and myself. The clothes don't make the man, the man makes himself and the clothes just reinforce that and if you need a suit and shirt to feel good then you go for it, more power to you, but for me, not gunna happen.

if I'm wearing a $400-$500 suit, and I pick up a date that's wearing a casual outfit, they'd better believe that they're gonna wait outside until I change into something less fancy. Steve, along with commentators here, said to war suits. You can own a couple of suits, but in order to wear one almost every day, you do need to have a lot of money...unless those women and you, would be OK with a man wearing raggedy suits, which I doubt would be the case. I remember watching this episode before and after scrolling through these comments all I can do is shake my head. Me personally as a young woman I feel that if I am to go out on a date with a young man I would want him to dress for the occasion. I get what a lot of people are saying and what Steve is saying too. As young woman I would want my date to be dressed comfortably but I would expect them to put a little effort into his appearance because I would put it into mine. For another example if we decide we are going on a date to an amusement park or mini golf or something like that I wouldn't expect him to dress up in a suit or anything. I would expect him to dress casual like some jeans or khaki shorts or something with a tshirt and some sneakers or something like that. But if we are going out to dinner at a nice restaurant I'd expect him to wear something like some slacks and a nice dress shirt and nice shoes not sneakers and jeans. In my opinion, from what that man said and how he said it came off as rude.
