personally I wouldn't stick my medical kit inside lost in the pack... I would put my medical kit and raincover in the brain lid of the pack... and hanging things outside the pack is the point of having the capability 😂 that's Wat compression straps are for...i need my water easy to drink not in my bag

why do you put your med kit in the middle of the pack? if something happens you has to take your food en all the other stuff that you put on top of the pack out en than you heave your med kit I put it always on top of the pack
Hike your own hike. I personally like to keep mine in the top compartment.....no wrong way to pack other than within the guidelines he has described. Heavy stuff up against the back- sleeping bag/tent low, etc.

Hey, a good old Walmart "Ozark Trail 45L Montpelier Ad Pack" is a real good starter back pack for 50 dollars. You have to order it though. They don't sell them in there retail stores.
You can buy one at big 5 np, backpacking is getting cheaper and lighter. This guy in the video packed way too much bulky stuff, there's much better videos you should look at like by dave collins and darwin onthetrail.
Problem with all Osprey packs is fit! They do not make mediums in most popular Lt Wt sizes. You'll have a difficult time cranking down the waistbelt to fit. My packs tend to bounce because the belts are too long (size M-L).

Greg,... for all the stuff you brought you sure forgot a lot of the essentials. Boys and girls, if you want to learn what to actually carry I suggest you look elsewhere.
Because beginners and noobs (like me) typically have a harder time narrowing down the list of things we consider "absolutely necessary" and so typically need a bigger bag until we realize just how unnecessary all our extra crap is.

sock mock or water shoes lighter can flex to pack if boot get lost you can hike in them try that in crooks you do it once

Why recommend a heavy pack for first timers? A lighter pack is more comfortable and people carrying lighter pack will be a happier hiker.
