LOVED IT. Such a fantastic format and really highlights short course triathlon with a nice balance of individual and team dynamics. Also, the NBC broadcast and commentary was absolutely spot on. Julie Swail is a treat and she should do triathlon commentary more often.

I would like to see a longer distance triathlon in the Olympics, like a 70.3, but I'd never seen anything like the mixed team relay and that was AWESOME.
Having been in that same situation, as I'm sure many watching here have also at some time, it's fair in that EVERYONE racing with you is also going through the same thing, same conditions, etc. We knew what we were getting into when we decided to compete. This is life, there will be winners and losers. As an athlete, as a person, you showed up and that makes you a winner. hopefully we realize that our efforts, whether we win or not, doesn't define us. How we handle the losses and how we treat others is what defines us.
So if a Pro speaks out against doping they look sus, and if they don't speak out against doping they look sus. Got it. Thanks for your constructive input into the debate.

Those 11% and 13% are people admitting. I think you can at least double that, for people that would never admit it. Look around gyms and social media. Doping is rife amongst amateur athletes. From bodybuilding to CrossFit, to rugby. Most of those I’d imagine are not on the full EPO bandwagon like you’re man there.

As you read out yourself the people in the survey did not necessarily admit to doping, but to using something from a pharmacy. I don't think taking some aspirin for a headache counts as doping for age group athletes.
As they read out, specifically performance enhancing and there are a list of the substances they give as examples, every single one which are commonly associated with doping
I have read the original scientific report on the previous study they did (publishedcin PLoS ONE) and the questions are ambigious and can be easily misunderstood. Doping among age groupers may be an issue but I dont think that 13% will admit of doping while queing for their IM registration. Poor science. Unfortunately they get the coverage and sensation that they are after.
The LA triathlon will be held in Long Beach, which is very promising as Long Beach is very experienced in hosting triathlon events. The most notable would be the Long Beach Legacy Triathlon.
Wow, 11% doping with performance enhancing drugs in the amateur field is super aggravating for me! I have raced the Ironman 70.3 world champs every year since 2019 (other than 2020 due to COVID), and finished in the top 10% of my age group without cheating. Imagine if they tested the top age groupers, I wonder where I would have actually placed!
I think it was crazy how Taylor Knibb chasing down the front to the gold that was in GB’s hands away and gave it to Germany who was resigned to silver.
Weird thing about the olympic triathlon relay, other than swimming with mr hanky, is if you add up the distance passed by all 4 members of the relay combined, they travel a shorter distance than the individual tri racers. Shouldn't it be 4 olympic distance tris, or at least 4 sprint distance tris?

So people who cheat justify it by saying that other people cheat - people who don't cheat assume that others are (mostly) clean. I prefer being in the latter category. The relay was indeed an amazing race! It was redemption for the Germans who had poor races in the individual and Taylor Knibb absolutely redeemed herself from her horrendous crashes in the TT and her 19th place in the individual. The Germans owe her for pulling Laura Lindemann up to Beth Potter. I do feel bad for the French team who were out of the medals through no fault of their own, but as a result of the poor behavior (again) by Hayden Wilde. He should be sanctioned by World Triathlon. He has caused multiple crashes over the past few years through his reckless behavior on the bike - at least this time he (and unfortunately his team) were also impacted. And kudos to Heather for excellent Track & Field commentary at the Olympics - what a pleasant surprise to hear her voice when I was watching the women's high jump!

Draft legal is fine and can make a race exciting as long as it’s not on a pan flat course. Why can’t we have at least one punchy hill per lap? At least that will separate the riders out a little.
The non drafting argument is quite weak to me. What is being proposed is a non draft bike leg. Will you also propose non draft swim? Wil you also propose non draft run?

The guy ‚Jens‘ they interviewed, he finishes in the last quarter of races… why would you risk your health and dope?! I don’t get it and the high number makes me very angry.. testing is expensive but for high age group finishers there should be more testing.. in the Video they asked how many age groupers had been tested, they said 3 but did sent the camera man away.. so nobody saw it. So did it really happen? I don‘t think so.
It would have been easy for the organisers to have parked a few strategic barges to deflect the current. A billion spent on the storm system when surely it only required a temporary screen to reduce some of the bigger particulates. It was a "shit show". And knowing that there could be rain why would they not add some texture to the crosswalk white paint. This is a bicycling nation they do know better. ps Talking about Challenge races, they have taken over the Montreal Esprit. A race that takes place on a permanent Gilles Villeneuve F1 race course in the middle of Montreal. It may be the fastest racing in the series. And how many times does anyone get to race on a Formula 1 track, and swim in an Olympic Rowing basin. The run is dead flat and you can see your competition all the way around the run course. It's a gas.

A hard swim is is usually avoided by triathlon organisers but will always benefit stronger swimmers and those who know the water.
They need some sort of GPS in their timing chip so we can see live gaps, who's who in the water and biking and running speeds.
