"Word of mouth" should be number 8. If you keep your customers/leads/prospects happy, under promise and over deliver, they will start recommending you to their friends, family, etc. Nothing builds more trust than a recommendation from a friend/loved one :)

I've been working in sales since I was 8 years old, I'm 51. I started selling on the streets and ended up in international sales for large corporations. One thing I can say, the best deals I've done have been because of my clients' trust in me.
You made the best video I've been waiting for years for someone to talk about!

Finally an Internet business approach that aligns with my ethics.
I just finished editing the intro for my online course and realized that two-thirds of it is me explaining who shouldn’t buy the course. It’s just how I prefer to be.

The shift from focusing on sales funnels to "trust funnels" is such a refreshing take. The idea that trust, not aggressive tactics, is the foundation for sustainable sales feels so much more aligned with how relationships and businesses should work. It really stands out how simplifying the process-removing unnecessary complexity-makes selling not just easier, but more authentic.
I love how you broke down the seven trust-building vehicles and ranked them by speed. The distinction between each method, from ads to live presentations, made it clear that the real goal isn't to chase numbers but to connect meaningfully with the right people. The emphasis on trust building over vanity metrics really hit home-so much less pressure to be "everywhere" all at once.
The storytelling hack was brilliant too. Sharing client transformation stories subtly plants the seed of possibility for others, without feeling pushy or salesy. It’s such a natural way to communicate value. The reminder to optimize for trust rather than perfection in marketing tactics really shifts the mindset from "selling" to serving. This approach makes business feel less transactional and more personal.

I loved this..I think the online marketing community forgot what it meant to provide value, everything feels like a trick and you begin to feel nasty trying to rick someone else. Graham I think your course was the only one that preaches building a real audience. and you flat out say "this may take a little while" but you are honest and its still holds true. The time is going to pass regardless so you might as well spend it providing value and building trust. Your future self will thank you.

I think you've nailed it. Information hasn't been valuable for quite a while now, and even "wisdom" or "guidance" or coaching is so plentiful that by itself, it's not worth much. But to find someone you can really TRUST is rare, and whatever is rare is usually also valuable.

Wow, this is liberating. It also clarifies what it means to have or build a product or service that “sells itself.” Let the stories, relationships, and value do the selling so all you have to do is casually mention your offer to make sales. If the casual offer doesn’t work, improve the stories, relationships, and value, not the pitch. Thank you. 🙏

TYSM Graham!!! I've been learning SEO from Sarah Moon who speaks from this exact same anti-fluff, mature-organic marketing approach that I appreciate so much. My heart literally smiled when you said "Trust Funnel" .. I said, "That makes so much more sense for us service-provider / spiritually dominant personal brands that struggled to find language and mentors to teach us how to capture, organize, and articulate our thoughts." This Trust Funnel approach supports a mantra I tell myself often, "A when is still a win. Keep building." - Can't wait to hear how you'll expand upon this concept to help us solopreneurs sculp our pivot into this new frame of thinking.

This was so valuable thank you! My intuition had already led me to many of these. I love to talk and hate social media posting so I just go live 1 x week and post longer videos sharing education, tips and resources. Even my stories I'm teaching and sharing personal stories with their outcomes as examples. I started doing all of this to build relationships with women (my audience) not to sell anything which has now led to a call to action to be supported in community while receiving live mentorship from me. I was an early adopter of kajabi and have never used it properly or successfully but i refused to give it up as I knew its potential. Rebranding and relaunching this spring and your videos are inspiring as well as educational. I've learned so much about how to set up my business on kajabi in just a few videos and execute what I envision. Thank you so very much Graham!

Funnels never did feel right to me done in the traditional way. I learned the basics but told myself I would never script the bs that they put out there. Thank you for the reminderthat there was never anything wrong with my business instincts😊
I've always been a full integrity kinda girl and disgusted at the tactics businesses would use to maximize their profits and forgetting the big picture of the lifelong raving fans/clients they could have. I used to have a brick and mortar business that had the best reputation and staff in the city.
Now shifting online in a new realm the past few years. mine is social media currently but I integrate my writing in it and use a secondary platform to share my writing as well.
As I'm sitting here relaxed from your confirmation of what I've already been feeling for years, the neurons are firing for fine tuning my message...it's been stuck for a few years feeling scattered and confusing... like a missing piece you feel can never be found. Timing is everything. I think you just indirectly helped me find my missing piece🙏🏻🧡

Thank you again Graham! As podcast hosts, our guests are often selling or offering something which we tend to point to at some point in the podcast. That's part of their incentive to join the podcast - to put their offer in front of a larger audience. So, the initial thought comes up that says my audience is always going to be buying my guest's offerings. But, am I correct in assuming that as I am building trust with each podcast, I then make my offers more "periodically" and NOT as part of the podcast? What vehicle would I use to make my offer if my podcast is for building trust and introducing my audience to my guest's offers?

If a Blog is about building trust, does that same blog get used as the vehicle for making offers? If so, what's the ratio of how often I make an offer within the vehicle that is primarily about building trust? I think I"m slightly confused about the artful blend of building trust and making offers.

Why assume, that what you put onto a Landing page or into any communication you use is MUMBO JUMBO?
This is just a bad landing page.
You literally describing how someone is creating weird, bad marketing. Just stop doing this. And create good stuff. Duh!
Like a bad movie. There are bad and good ones. Just pick the good one.
It's not movies in general to blame.
    So: Just create good funnels.
It's not the fault of a sales funnel.
It just bad marketing - created by bad or unskilled marketers.
And anyway, what is a sales funnel?
It's not an overlong, pushy, no value and no trust-building email series after an optin to a lead magnet (that is bad marketing. And you're right to hate bad marketing).
A sals funnel the way and sepcifically the steps a person from your target audience becomes a client of yours.
So whatever you do, there is a sales funnel.
A youtube channel guiding people to a landingpage is a sales funnel.
And btw. what you are saying on sales vs. trust funnel is nonsense. A good sales funnel is always optimized to building trust. Without it, sales just dont happen. Again, what you are referring to are BAD sales funnels.

I was just talking to a client about this today, and now I am stealing the term, Trust Funnel.
