Thinking of going there for my next camping trip. How do you get all your gear to the camping spot? Is there any transportation on the island, or do you have to lug it all?
Oh you definitely should, it was so much fun!! You take your gear on the ferry with you from Tobermory, we used Blue Heron Cruises. They allow you to take a “reasonable amount” of gear on the boat. You have to call ahead of time to book your ferry tickets with them after your campsite is booked through Parks Canada. Once you are on the island, it is about a 5 minute walk to the campsites. So, you’ll need to be able to carry whatever gear you have for a short while. We only brought gear we could carry on our backs in one trip, but we did see other groups bringing in stuff like coolers. Have fun!!
