«I forgive you» «Don't bother» As Jane Austen wrote in chapter 24 of "Pride and Prejudice": «It is very often nothing but our own vanity that deceives us». Aziraphale got carried away from his own vanity and pure heart, too obsessed with the greater good than the small moments that makes a life worth living for.
Yea the Metatron knew how to play him. Praise him, offer him to be Supreme Archange, Azi doesn't ask questions, does he. It is not his job to judge. Unlike Crowley. Why double traitor who is consorting with the enemy for a very long time and the Metatron knew about their "Arrangement" would be made a Supreme Archangel. He is obsessed wi the greater good, and like to be praised instead of seeing the small things and moments in life. Remember what Metatron wanted to do with Gabriel when they found out that he was consorting with Bee...Azi is going to have a nasty surprise in Heaven. Particuarly you can see the vanity when Crowley says he didn't want to join hell back when they asked him and Azi goes: "Of course not YOU ARE the bad guys" instead saying they are the bad guys and then towards the end "you don't understand what I am offering you here"...making Crowley better by making him Angel...still seeing crowley as the bad guy.
I think it is a mixture of vanity plus his relationship with heaven is like Nina with her partner - abusive. Nina got out, Azi not yet. The moment the abuser "Heaven" praise him, he forgets all the bad and naively thinks he can change it for the better, plus he likes to feel important. That's how Metatron played him.
Aziraphale keeps siding with Heaven, even though it always ends badly. My prediction is that heaven will try and manipulate Aziraphale until he's a mindless drone like the rest, and Crowley will have to save him. And I'll say it again, this season did Crowley dirty. And I hope season 3 will fix it
I also wonder if maybe there's a chance that Azi finds out that they plan to destroy Crowley as the final act of separation of the Angel and Deamon partnership. I'm wondering if Azi will overhear something and find out that together, he and Crowley were the biggest threat to the Second Coming. So separating them was always the plan. Maybe that will bring Azi back to earth and he and Crowley will once again save humanity, and of course save each other. But then again, I'm thinking that perhaps you're right about Crowley coming to Azi's rescue again because as Azi says in S2, "oh he just loves coming to my rescue" or something like that. So maybe Crowley will rescue Azi again and then they'll save humanity together ❤.
@@beezer81loving the first half of your comment. but I'm hoping that next season it will be the other way around, with Aziraphale coming to Crowley's rescue for once, expecially since he hurt him so badly in this finale. you can't expect Crowley to rescue Aziraphale forcefully, it was his own decision to go to heaven after all. Az needs to realise his mistake on his own, decide to go back and make amends.
also, if by "did Crowley dirty" you mean that they got him through a lot, then I agree. if you mean he was poorly written, then I completely disagree. he had his fair dose of badass, funny and emotional scenes. if anything, it was Aziraphale that wasn't painted in a good light (I love it, btw. way to show the good and the bad of both characters) forgive any mistakes, it's late in the night where I am
@@randomitalianinthecomments yes, I agree, I think S3 is going to be Azi's turn to show his love for Crowley by protecting and saving him. I think back to the moment in the first episode when Gabriel is sitting naked with a blanket on his lap (🤣🤣🤣) and he's says to Azi, "you know what it's like when you don't know anything at all, yet your totally certain that everything would be better if you were just near one particular person?"...well, I think that's a HUGE moment for Azi because he's thinking about Crowley of course, but I think Azi's issue has always been physically saying out loud that he loves Crowley because he's afraid. I think in S3 we're going to see Azi eally shift and lose some of his naivete. I don't think Gaiman will allow Azi to lose himself completely, but he'll force him into a place of growth and acceptance, not just regarding his love for Crowley, but for himself too. I think Crowley will be there for Azi, but I don't think he'll make another grand gesture regarding his feelings, at least not until Azi makes one. I see Crowley reciprocating fully, but he is going to need Azi to make that next move. I'd also really love to see Nina and Maggie in S3 as well. I'd imagine that Crowley would benefit from having a couple of human friends who seem to accept him as he is. It would be sweet to see Crowley keeping an eye on Muriel and the book shop despite the heartbreaking parting between he and Azi. I don't think Crowley would have waited by his car and watched Azi leave if he had completely given up. Oh man I need S3 asap, LOL!
@@randomitalianinthecomments did I write that? I don't know if that's my comment, but no I don't think Crowley was poorly written at all. I felt like S2 Crowley was amazing. I think both Crowley and Azi equally hurt each other and in S3 they'll fix it. They're both right and wrong and they both want to be together, but they were coming at it from very different perspectives and I think that was to be expected. As Nina and Maggie pointed out to Crowley, he and Azi don't really talk...and yes, part of that is regarding their romantic feelings for each other, but it's also about the other stuff too...like, in 6,000 years, Azi has never asked Crowley if he'd ever want to be an angel again? Azi just thinks Crowley is angry for being cast out of heaven, but he remembers how happy he was as an angel. Crowley never tells him how he truly feels about heaven, but he also never communicates with Azi exactly what happened during S1 when Gabriel tried to kill him, nor does he mention why Gabriel left heaven, or anything about the book of life. Azi is operating with very little information in S2, and I think it's because he's content living in his little world where he's still "good" mixed with a few "white lies" now and then, and of course he's got Crowley. And Crowley is always so set on protecting Azi that he keeps Azi ignorant because he doesn't want to break his spirit. I think Crowley really cares about how Azi will handle knowing the truth, so when he's telling Azi that Heaven and Hell are both toxic, it's odd to Azi because he's got a warped sense of Heaven still. So, yeah, they both messed up, and I think it's going to be awesome how it all comes together in the end. Hopefully the writers strike will settle soon and Amazon can green light S3 asap 🙏
I love that Aziraphale didn't want to go back to Heaven until the Metatron offered to let Crowley come along with him

He is an angel. He believes in good. Above everything. He always has. Crowley should know that.
