    It would be interesting to know how your neighbor presses out the wax. All the resources on TH-cam show really small scale and time consuming processes.

    I really enjoy rendering beeswax. I just find it so satisfying. But then, I'm just doing 10-20 pound unfiltered slabs.

    I know this is an old video, but just curious...do you have a valve on the tank at the bottom also to clean out the crud occasionally?

    I can't find the wax suppliers yet.

    I have a question about whether or not it would be possible to reuse this wax in frames. And also I always see non-drawn out comb frames but is it possible to create completely drawn out frames ?

  • @ErgonomicChair
    @ErgonomicChair 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hm! I am curious, how do you get the wax and honey? Do you have to destroy the combs, or does the wax separate from the honey as you harvest it?

    In the States we use electric heat tape to keep water lines from freezing. Maybe you could wrap the valve and it will keep the pipes from getting too Cold to let the valve and wax to flow. It may keep you from fire up the torch every time you drain the wax. Thanks

    • @jomase6154
      @jomase6154 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      nope it won't work. needs more heat then they put out.

    • @houstonsheltonbees814
      @houstonsheltonbees814 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jomase6154 have you tried it yet? Lol... Sorry I just thought once the wax was hot that it may help to keep it flowing in between use. Good luck

    Kindly tell me what your neighbour uses the slum for

    • @jomase6154
      @jomase6154 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      they press what wax is still left in the slum, and they do old broken frames. as far as the slum itself, it can make for good burning fuel in the winter times. it's basically garbage.

    What's "slum"?

    • @droolingfangirl
      @droolingfangirl 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's a wikipedia article, "Slumgum in beekeeping is the residue of the beeswax rendering process. When the beeswax from brood comb is rendered to produce clean wax, it leaves behind the pupal lining, wax moth cocoons, excrement from larvae, and other residual debris included in the original material. "

      Seamstresses use it to toughen their thread. Archers use it on bow strings. There are hundreds of uses. There are some very high tech items that can't be made without bees wax. It's very special stuff.
