Surpassing the Threshold

A track created for a Masters assignment at the University of Ulster. This piece combines glitch hop/ 110bpm with music concrete by utilizing the electromagnetic background noise of some of the celestial bodies in our solar system and incorporating it into various aspects of the music.
The idea behind the piece is an auditory representation of the 'Great Filter' and 'Fermi Paradox', with its repetitive structure and want to cadence (those who are still searching), sub bass/drone (those who have become too advanced and cannot be contacted), glitch/ disruptive audio (those who have failed and self destructed), constant of the Earth and the Sun in the background (ancestral home world), and the eventual breakthrough of the threshold before fading out to close the piece (becoming the advanced race).
