Miss those lazy days of baseball. At 12, I played ball as a pitcher.
I almost lost an eye playing softball,36 stitches. If it was baseball ⚾️ size, small,I would lost my left eye. 1992!!
The MAN who was putting in the stitches wanted me to hold his candy BAR ..BABE RUTH!! True story, still makes me laugh 😅 THX FOR THE MEMORIES
Always fun to hear these types of offbeat novelty records. I own one of 1965 Minnesota Twins highlights
It's funny; I don't much care about baseball at all (although if I had to pick two sports to care about at gunpoint, I'd probably go with baseball and basketball), but I love these. I guess it's just the ephemeral nature of sports broadcasts, pressed to wax as a special presentation like this, that just piques my interest.
I watched the 1975 baseball world series games live on TV at age 11. I believe Cincinnati Reds won the series Pete Rose was their biggest star.
I wasn’t aware of baseball records like these. Pretty neat, if you find one for your team. I do have a baseball record, though. It is a 7” 33 1/3 rpm spoken word recording of Mickey Mantle’s retirement ceremony at Yankee Stadium. Titled “A Day To Remember, June 8, 1969”. The sleeve has six photos of the ceremony on the front, and the rear is a full width image of Mickey acknowledging the ovation from the crowd. It is on Columbia Special Products label, and the catalog number is CSM 1020. A cherished item that my late father and would listen to.
As far as I know, the New York Knicks’ “We are New York, and We Love Basketball” theme song from the late 1970s-early 1980s was never available to the public until the 1990s on CD! It would’ve been so cool if it was on vinyl back in the day, as the Knicks is my favorite team! Peace.
"...from B Street to the..." That would be B Street, in South Boston. Not too far away from where I grew up.
I have a couple of records from that same label (Fleetwood Sounds). They involve the 1963 Indy 500 which I have in both mono and stereo. The beginning of the record one hears the sound of the legendary Novi engine.
Fun video, I really enjoyed hearing this baseball history. Go Phillies!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
There was a record after the 67 Red Sox - The Impossible Dream: The Story Of The 1967 Boston Red Sox, same label I think by WHDH I think some of it was recreated but who cares. Just found one with Curt Gowdy (and Shlitz) narrating about sports more broadly. It's fun to hear this stuff.
There's a late sixties Detroit Tigers Lp out there. My parents had it.
I have that red Sox one… still in the wrap it’s the first time I really followed baseball (I was 12) that team broke my heart for the first and not the last time
The Red Sox are my team. When they won in 2004, I immediately purchased the Boston Globe edition for that day and still have it. First win in 86 years! I was so proud of my home state team.
I knew something was wrong with my info...I thought it was early 2000's, but I saw 2013...I was actually correct in my memory. LOL.
Record the other Baseball Record is interesting to lisn to my friend
Here in Houston, we didn’t have these for our teams…but, we had “themed songs” for only the Houston Oilers (now Tennessee Titans), two of which still show up occasionally - and how the artist wasn’t sued by MacLen Music (“Luv Ya Blue”, borrowing the music from “Love Me Do”), I don’t know!
I remember the Houston Oilers song.
Not bad 1981 43 years ago
Oh that reminds me my father used to own the Celtics Haveliceck stole the Ball.... On vinyl
Remember when Johnny Most used to do the Celtics? If you didn't know him you would have thought you radio blew a speaker.
@@fiercefeline5096 that album was my introduction to Johnny Most... He narrated it.... I have to look for this on ebay or when I'm flea marketing..
I have 2 of these. They are football records for the Washington Redskins.
Pretty much everybody around here still call that team the Redskins. Yes, I am in the general Washington DC area.
I am a 60 year + Redskin fan and that’s what I will call the team until I die. HTTR!!!
Did you know there is baseball comics as well .
Awesome.
@@Recordology I’ve seen one for Jackie Robson thats bin reprinted and some others
Record ology where did you get the two Baseball Records ? my friend
Record shops mostly.
Record ology you and miss record ology and your son 73s my friend
I was supposed to go to a baseball game tonight (I have a season ticket to the Fredericksburg Nationals minor league team). However, the game got cancelled due to the thunder and lightening that has been rolling through this area all evening. Well, I now got a double header to look forward to tomorrow evening! So, kinda neat to see/hear this. Also to add! Speaking of the Dodgers, I was over at a local micro brewery and the Dodgers games was on the TV there. The game was tied up after the 8th inning, but not had a chance to find out what ultimately happened. Just looked it up and saw the Phillies won 3 to 4 (They were playing in Philly). These records used pretty be the only way for "John Q. Public" to be able to "relive" many of those sports moments. Now, these days, you can pretty much stream many of older games if you have the appropriate sports subscription, such as NFL+ or MLB.tv.
Awesome stuff.
