I have not had the Highland Park 25 for quite some time. The last time I bought a bottle I think I paid about $475 USD for it in 2008. Amazing whisky. But there was a time when I avoided official distillery bottlings of just about everything. I went through a phase where I was buying mostly single cask Scotch from independent bottlers. In 2012 I got my hands on four bottles of Highland Park 21 from Signatory's Cask Strength Collection and I paid about $83 USD per bottle (those were the good old days). It was a world class dram. But the supply of Highland Park from IBs has dried up over the last 10 years and unless you're prepared to blow $5,000 or more for a 40+ year old bottle of Highland Park from the likes of Duncan Taylor then you really are out of luck. I was fortunate enough to find a 2016 release of the Highland Park 25 and 30 at a local shop. Both were bottled at 45.7% ABV. The 25 was priced at $759 and the 30 was $1,049. I bought them both. I opened the 25 and had a taste. Sublime. Easily in the top 10 of whiskies I have ever tasted. Maybe a top 5 dram. Then a few days later, much to my surprise, I found a second bottle of the 2016 release of HP 25 at a shop in a neighboring state. I bought it without hesitation. Same price. Yes, $2,567 USD is a lot of money to spend on 3 bottles of whisky. But worth it to me.
Congrats Rob! You saved a real gem for the occasion. This is my all time favourite bottle. I usually spend an hour just nosing this beauty. I’m down to my last third of the bottle and am still gasing it four years later, trying to milk it for all it’s worth. Now you need to go to Orkney! Gorgeous place, amazing people.
As a father of 2 (1 boy and 1 girl), all I have to say is good luck! Congratulations to your entire family and enjoy your new bundle of joy. I will drink to your daughter's health and happiness tonight. Cheers!

Imagine the whisky market in 18 or 21 years? For me it changes so fast, right? and I think you have that down. I feel bad for all those years I lived in japan I I didn’t take advantage of the Japanese market but we live and learn. Love your channel. Glad you can pass this on man to you children. Congragulations!!! All the best and heard good things about it. How would you rank it versus other 25yr old is really on another level? Because the 18yr was about an 85-87 mark for me. Still pondering Bunnahabhain 25yr, but many say the 18yr is quite close and I own a bottle and have tasted it. Very good in my opinion.

Have you gotten floaters in your bottle? I just bought myself a bottle of this liquid gold, and found out quite a few tiny whiteish woodlike "chips". They float if shaken, but fall to the bottom. Was wondering if this is due to non chill filtering, or the cork falling apart into the liquid.

That’s a lot of money for me and more then I’ve ever paid for a single bottle, but from what I can tell you’d be lucky to find another bottle for near that price. I had the HP 25 in Scotland this year and I expected more. To be fair I only had 1 dram, but I would still rate it a 90. I would like to revisit the bottle again and have a few more drams, but I'm not paying $579 at my store. Great review.

Jamison Moeckel I agree. I used to think HP added colour as well. There are places in Europe that have to disclose if E150 is used in the whisky on the bottle. Highland Park doesn’t use it. It’s only stated in areas where it has to be for some reason. Not sure why they do this. I’d rather see it on the bottle as well. The Ambassadors all swear they don’t any colour. They claim HP spends far too much on barrels to add it.
That’s a lot of money. It’s excellent but I can’t justify trying to convince someone to pay that money. If money 600 is no big deal grab it. Make sure to ask for a discount though.
