    Another alternative for the 1-wides would be to have unloading stations at both ends of the farm, then alternate orientation between each lane.

      Still have the issue of getting items too one spot where now you have too get them from both sides.

    • @joevdb9232
      @joevdb9232 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Putting the items into a central storage location gets more complicated and difficult.
      For a fast farm, where you have to repeat filter/loader modules anyway, this is no issue. Just split the storage system in two.
      And for slower farms you don't need this upgrade, just use ilmango's 2-wide concept instead, where each minecart track has a hairpin

    • @abcdefghij3603
      @abcdefghij3603 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@Sea_Leon You could, off the top of my head, bounce all the items into a central point where they drop down to a piston conveyor system that pushes them along, then into the usual bounce over hoppers or whatever storage solution you have.

    For a while it felt like minecraft was converging into a bunch of "best" solutions where every type of farm had 1 best design and it was for the best to just use that unless you're a super techical and could design a better one that could generate slightly better.
    Now it feels like things are expanding again. There's new ways to do things and more interesting concepts that feel and look fun. Also a lot of wiggle room for things to improve.

    This would go really well with the stack separating and sorting stuff that was going on a while ago, e.g. Rapscallion did some videos about it. At the time it wasn't overly useful but with the hopper minecart destruction unloaders you can get tons of stacks in a really short amount of time so being able to sort them could be really useful!

    In my opinion, Mojang should do a complete overhaul of the rail placement mechanics. Some configurations of rail are even impossible. It actually happened to me that I wanted powered rails to be configured in a certain way, which turned out to be impossible (it was directional)

  • @trndrk
    @trndrk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    One way to get around the nether issues is to have the unloading on the overworld side of a portal, since it's a new entity the new minecart won't have portal cooldown issues, the nether side rail has to be slow enough to get the minecart out of cooldown.

    • @ChiefArug
      @ChiefArug 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This I want to see, a multi dimensional unloading system.
      Maybe even an end based one, so you just throw hopper minecarts into an end portal from anywhere and they get sorted?

    • @zanehannan5306
      @zanehannan5306 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ChiefArug end based is super difficult, so unless mojang allows ender pearls to be used as some sort of fuel (eg for a chunkloader or beacon) I heavily doubt anyone could feasibly use the end or end portal as anything other than a quick way home.

  • @joevdb9232
    @joevdb9232 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    I really like the new possibilities with hopper minecarts. Because more minecarts and more unloading stations cause more lag, there is never a good one-size-fits-all item collection system.

    The cart yeeter by Methodz and 2no2name is the perfect thing for the nether since It doest use the minecart snapping on rail mechanic. That way the items don't land on any rail supporting block. Attaching a redispensing system to it was super easy. In order to bring the items to a single spot I just used a Piston conveyor. In my opinion this is the perfect 1 wide tileable cartyeeter for the nether.

    For anyone wondering why he used a mud block on top of a hopper line for the rail the Minecraft snaps to, instead of putting the rail directly on the hopper: if you do that (I tried it) sometimes the Minecraft will go into the wrong hopper (weirdly this is highly dependent on where you built it, sometimes it's fine, and sometimes it only stops working after you unload then reload the chunks)
    I did find though (in my limited testing, but it's yet to break for me over a couple hundred tests) you can fix this by using a detector rail as the rail it snaps to. I assume it's because the hopper item drops on the boundary of the two hoppers, but by locking one briefly it falls into the right one. This'll slightly lower the speed of the hopper line, but it's more than fast enough for the farm I was using it for

    One potential way around the tileable rail issue when moving them back and forth with pistons would also be to simply have every other minecraft unloader on the opposite side. So the first unloader would be on the right side and the second would be on the left side, so on and so forth. From there it would just be the matter of gathering the items up and all together, but I don't know how much faster or elegant that solution would even be. It's a thought either way.

    I really like the concept of leaving the items inside the minecarts for most of the time. However, what kind of stuff has to be build in the Nether that wouldn't be better of beeing build in the overworld? I don't think the list of Nether exlusive farms, that require such kind of collection is somewhat short. And then it is probably best to design something very specific for the specific farm.

    I just spent days fixing problems on mine for a nether only ghast farm 😅. I think I found a bug that soul sand has light level 0 4 blocks below light sources... I was starting to run out of redstone resources so didn't end up doing a single dump area. Having the single rail didn't work for me since there is a chance it would pick up one of the top minecarts when breaking in the cauldron. It happened enough that I scraped that design but your version looks like it fixes that problem. I think detecting the top hopper minecart in the dropper to dispense another minecart to be sent might be simplier.

    What if you move the rails in another rythm? So you first move all odd rails and then all even rails. If you move them in the same tick, they should not connect

    Can't you just place the rail on scaffolding? This way the minecart can stay on there but the items can fall through

      No for several reasons. The mud block is a full block on bedrock edition, the minecart has to be halfway in the cauldron to break, items can be deleted…
      The design needs to be fully revisited if you want it to work
