So beautiful so sad too. Wonderful work of restoration. It's so true about the pets..I have cats i had dogs growing up thay are my babies thay bring me more joy any human could ever have. God bless animals
Cool! You did a wonderful job! A friend asked if I could scan his almost 100 year old glas negatives a couple of years ago. After some setting up I used my DSLR to scan the plates that in 95% of the cases was in great shape! He was very happy seeing the photos after all of these years! Keep up the good work!
I love your devotion to restoring these photos, and your masterful re-imagining of these photographs! I'm sure that the original photographer would be touched by your efforts and attention to detail! Bravo Mathieu
This reminds me so much of the film "They Shall Not Grow Old". Thank you for your hard work to bring us a clearer image of the past. I feel very privileged to be able to witness them.
I wish you could make this into a series, it’s one of my most favorite things to see from your channel, just knowing that person had a meaningful life that became captured in this photo to be discovered all this time to become apart of our lifes
That was beautiful, it took me back to being 5years old and remembering my first dog, Brandy, came with me every wear and we had fun, people used to tell me years later, but brandy was still going strong, how they would see me and say, there’s David but I don’t see Brandy, or vis-à-vis. That was the fantastic thing, we just knew each other! He died when I was 21! The end part of your video was amazing and made me react to the animation as wow, you have brought this person as beautiful as the originals we’re, I loved the process and the thinking behind the extras that make it possible to have a memory that’s believable, as much as a video, a little of the cinematic , that fitted with the period. I don’t know if that would still change and adapt to the period, looking at expressions that fit the model, a bit like Green screen only in reverse, Mr Potato Head! DG 71years New Forest U.K.
It took almost 2 weeks to finish this video, I hope you will all enjoy the result ! If you want to have a printed copy of the portraits in your place: tinyurl.com/5y4jz8dn
Fascinating!. I am a traditional darkroom printer in the U.K., and I also collect glass plates. I have a large format enlarger which allows me to make enlargement prints of them, which draws out hidden features. I will try colourising as you have shown here.
Great video! I have dozens of old plates collected over the years. They can be picked up very cheaply from antique centres, car boot sales. Thanks to you i now know what to do with them!👍
The sad thing is that most colourists do not honour history, they rewrite it. Example: they usually give Victorian people dowdy brown clothes when in truth, Victorians dressed in flamboyant colours. 4.bp.blogspot.com/-WnZm0P5Tp9w/Ua6iIhhbMZI/AAAAAAAAAI4/xjEU6wq-YCA/s1600/7888.jpg
I am glad I looked at this channel after the collab with Destin from SmarterEveryDay. This is a brilliant video, I wonder if we could track down the family of this person.
I have also subscribed from Destin. This is really great work and dedication to restoring these plates. As Tarun said it would be epic to find who these people were and speak with their relatives.
Almos all of your videos are for me very emotional, beautiful thank you for your work. Bdw I watching this with my Sibirian forest cat Mau, what a precious moment animals are realy part of us and ouer families❤.
A truly beautiful restoration of the essence of life to a century old print. I would very much like to know the process step by step that reached the final animated shots. I need to pay more attention to and learn to integrate ai into my creative arsenal.
Those old glass plates deserve to be scanned with a medium format camera with pixel shift capability and Nikon Printing-NIKKOR 105mm f2.8A lens (optimized for 1:1 magnification), or similar.
The only thing that irked me with the first one was the repair you made to the damaged area, there’s a small section of detail on the chair right next to her left arm that couldn’t be seen because of the damage, but is mirrored on the opposite side next to her right arm so that could’ve been used to replicate and repair that area.
This video gave me life omg Btw just a question, why the colorized version looked so soft, like pastel? It kinda looks like a painting, it looks amazing regardless. 💯
for repairing the damaged parts where it’s cut or scratched or whatever, there’s an ai that looks like it can do that. haven’t used it but i’ve seen it a few times when searching thru modes on replicate (which i mostly use for stable diffusion and real-esrgan upscaling). also i’d guess that having a colorizer ai see only smaller parts of the image and then stitching those together would probably give a better result than giving it the whole thing, since doing that with other neural nets has worked better in my experience
My dear friend and I dunno how to say it in French but your Curiosity, deep DEEP insight, on top of your flawless hard work and obsession for perfection... IS KILLING ME! Very Pleasingly and gently! Way to go & Merry Christmas/Happy New Year/Seasons Greetings. 🎄🕯❄📯🎉🎠✨🎼🎈🍸🎂🥳🎌🔥🎇🥂🎀🤶🎅🎄🎵🕊🙏✨🎄
Hi, nice work. Maybe a bit too colorful result but still good job. I am wondering about the specific tools Mathieu used for AI. The video does NOT say is those tools have been developed by the artist and not available or he use a specific plugin or app that everyone can access. Sadly, many times those videos are a bit too generic and do not provide concrete info/direct links to the sources and so on:-(
She smiled at me:) Thank yoou for the work you put in restoration and sharing it. God bless you
