I’ve been hooked on watching them all after I was searching for Ko Samui vlogs - and have since binge watched them all….have been waiting all week for this one to come out as I’ve now caught up! I watched The Beach film again yesterday, and seeing this video made it look like the utopia they had!! And…..it’s PRAWNS for sure!! lol
Funny you say that. The author of the Beach was actually writing about the Philippines (where exactly in the Philippines no one knows as Alex Garland is keeping it a secret) but he changed it to Thailand because he didn't want it to become overrun with tourists. And he was right after the movie came out. Maya Beach is now a tourist trap

Sticky Rice wrapped in Banana leaf is dipped in sugar....partner is coffee...
Sometimes sticky rice is eaten with shaved coconut and sugar.....
There is also Cassava Suman... a dessert... very sweet ..😊
the super sour you tried is called Kamias, the one that is also sour that looked like a nut is called sampalok or tamarind in English, and lastly the sticky rice one is called Suman :)

Words of advise to have a nice beach time is on march 25 you can see the best sunset and at night you can see the full moon rising..but look at your weather forecast if it is not raining in your area wherever you are..enjoy and keep safe always..

Thats Tamarind the one uou open become bround because of hit of the sun if like this the texture in the philippines they make desssert or sweet,but if the color like brown you can mix with fish you make sinigang for sour your fish or pork.

20:45 is a tamarind fruit.....youre eating the ripe ones....the raw ones are the main sour ingredients for Pork Sinigang....in the old times though....Nowadays however everyone uses the Ready Sinigang Mix Powder Version

We called it “Suman Malagkit” the sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves. The best for breakfast with hot dark chocolate drink. I missed it 😋
Personally, I would call those shrimp, but it is hard to tell online. According to The Kitchn (Yes, that is the name of the website): "Prawns tend to be larger than shrimp, and often taste sweeter. There are more varieties of shrimp, too. Both animals have 10 legs, but prawns have pincers on three pairs of legs, while shrimp just have one clawed duo)."
