    My water lettuce was doing great for a year. They were growing like weeds and I was constantly needing to remove some because of overcrowding. Suddenly with no change in lighting, water movement or water parameters they started dying off. Roots were starting to diminish and melt away. I moved a few over to another take that had less light, more water movement but the same water parameters and those recovered and began to thrive. Put them back into the original tank and they died off. The reasons stated in this video are not necessarily the cause of die off. In fact in an aquarium setting these plants, especially the dwarf variety, prefer less intense light. Intense light can cause scorching in the leaves.

      can i keep water lettuce inside a circle attached to a suction cup if there is a good amount of water current in my tank?
      can the floaters survive this way?

    I got some last night and they were standing tall above the surface and stiff but this morning it was flatter and not tall and straight up

    They say surface agitation is important for gas exchanges so how do you keep floaters in when you also need to stir the surgace up for the fish to breathe

    I had water lettuce struggling in quite a few tanks. I set up a new one that had too high levels of phosphorous. The phosphorous was leading to cyanobacteria problems. The water lettuce exploded in that one. My theory is that this is an extremely phosphate hungry plant. Anyone agree?

    I have dwarf water lettuce, I have lots of flow, maybe like 20 guppies n a piranha small baby. My lettuce thriving, I give a about 8-10 hrs of lighting. No added nutrients.. water change about 10% every other week..

    This is super helpful, thank you. My water lettuce are tiny, are there different types or will they grow that big? Only had it a week.

    You don't have to add any nutrients to the water?

      I own a shrimp tank with water lettuce. My shrimps love to hang on their roots and feed on the biofilm grown on it. Just make sure the light intensity isnt too strong then the plant will do great😊

    Mine is kept in a small makeshift pond and having guppies in the balcony. I stay in Dubai, a relatively hot place. There is no surface agitation in my pond still they are turning yellow. What could be the reason?

    I got both water lettuce and frogbit and they are doing very bad! They keep turning yellow and roots rotted off! Idk what else to do. My tank does have a lot of flow so i tried putting a few in separate container with tank water and they still died. I use easy green once a week. I also have water whisteria in the tank and the leaves keep melting. Any advice? There are plenty of fish waste in water and I dose ferts

    Water lettuce no need to filter they love atleast sunlight and the water is steady only u can put guppy fish and the poop of fish is the fertilizer of water lettuce then the guppy will eat the egg of mosquitoes

    But you need some water agetation at top to get oxygen in the tank don't you?

    Will it produce oxygen inside aquarium

    • @paleozoic
      @paleozoic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, and they could do the opposite if they completely block the surface preventing oxygen exchange to happen. The oxygen comes from the leaves, so the oxygen is going into the atmosphere like a terrestrial plant would. Floating plants and hydroponic plants eat up way more waste/nutrients than fully aquatic plants though as they are getting CO2 from the atmosphere/air.

    My water lettuce, dying 2, yeah, water lettuce only live on green water & it's direct on the sun light,
    I have fish pond, so my water lettuce on that fish pond are healthy, compared to water lettuce on my aquarium, if you want healthy water lettuce, just change your water into green water then find a place that it can see by sunlight,
