Get a quick overview of 2 Kings 17, including its themes and key events. This article provides a short summary of 2 Kings chapter seventeen, and will help you understand the book of 2 Kings as a whole.
2 Kings 17 is a very important chapter in the Old Testament because it tells us about the expulsion of the people of Israel from their land by the Assyrians during the days of king Hoshea. After decades of disregarding and disrespecting God’s commands, God allowed the Assyrians to conquer Israel and relocate most of the people to distant portions of the Assyrian Empire.

Is the law of God the entire old testament or only parts of it?
And if it is, should you follow all of the laws in the old testament? And if not, which laws should you follow and how do you decide which ones to follow and which ones not to follow?
Verse 40-41 made me think about the catholics who served carved images as they have feast for their Saints etc
Let's rock! 2 kings 17
2 Kings 17:8, "They worshipped other gods and followed the practices of the nations the LORD had driven out before them, as well as the practices that the kings of Israel had introduced." In this passage, the Bible explains that rulers and powers of authority can introduce practices that are contrary to obedience to God, which adds to spiritual warfare in the New Covenant, which the Bible says, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." -- (Ephesians 6:12) Clearly, there were probably no good kings of Israel, except Jehu almost came close (2 Kings 10:28-31) -- though Judah had good kings. The kings of Israel acted as rulers and powers in their authority that made obeying God more difficult as a result of the disobedient practices that they could enforce by their power. I still feel a little confused about the reason "flesh and blood" is not part of our struggle, other than each individual person does not have authority or power to enforce their will upon you, but rulers and authorities and the powers of this dark world do have the ability to enforce their will upon you through disobedient laws and corrupt enforcement of power, such as an example of enforcing homosexual freedoms upon you, when they disobey God and nature and the natural law and the natural order of the earth to accomplish the depravity and sin-darkened futility in their minds (Romans 1:24-32); and since they disobey God and nature and the natural law and the natural order of the earth in their wicked foolishness, the Bible explains the situation clearly, "[a]lthough they know God's righteous decrees that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them." -- (Romans 1:32). At least, God has a good plan for His righteous people, but the other people who do such wicked foolishness have no hope that matters in the world, but hopefully some of them repent (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
Thank you 😊
