    Now that looked like a whole shed load of work, love the finished look though. I can't wait to see it all finished and assembled

    Looking so good! I was particularly taken by the masking of the orange bits with the peeling to make the scratches. The black paint-wash really makes the details pop!
    Great post, you have done a ton of work so far and I'm looking forward to the final reveal.

      I have a ton of peeling footage 😄 and thank you!

    Your video I found the most helpful of them all in weathering/painting clone armor. Thanks a lot! Can't wait to get a 3-D printer to get my phase 2 clone armor.

    Really shaping up... I would really like to try that liquid latex sometime. Leaves a wonderful chipped paint effect. Nice job!
    P.S. You should've made this a most satisfying video since you peeled all the masking tape away. XD

    For me when I design my clone suit on the weathering bits and gonna do a combination of me putting white spray paint on my hands with the gloves on and just flicking it on the armor and using a toothpick with white paint or a thin white marker and also maybe doing some little circles that will be a black color where spray it where it looks like I’ve been shot and survived and I want my helmet to have a cool design too mines gonna be kind of like a captain style so it’s gonna have the flip down range finder along with the blaster pistols in the holsters even the blaster pistols I might even give a little paint job

    Did you just use that Acrylic paint straight from the bottle or did you mix it with some water or other liquid?

    • @BucketheadStudios
      @BucketheadStudios  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Initially mixed with water for the washes, but changed to using it more or less straight as I had more control, and just using the damp scouring pad to add water if needed.

  • @sossee4685
    @sossee4685 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So did you use the acrylic paint on your dry brushing as well, or only on the wet one? It looks really good btw

  • @xxJOE6210xx
    @xxJOE6210xx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Whats the name of the black acrylic wash you used? Also would you recommend just using a wet scouring pad to wipe the surface after its applied?

    • @BucketheadStudios
      @BucketheadStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's just simple black acrylic paint. Yeah I used a wet green scouring pad to remove the paint if it was on too much

    Hey I'm also creating a 212th. I won't need it done for awhile but for a price would you set mine up to be worn and paint it?

    When you taped your armor, how did you do this and ensure there wasn't any color bleeding under the tape?

    • @BucketheadStudios
      @BucketheadStudios  ปีที่แล้ว

      With just the tape, it happens. If going for a weathered look it will hide when you do the washes.
      You can take extra steps though if you want to reduce the chances. Once taped you can spray with a white or a clear coat first, which will 'invisibly' seal any potential bleed areas, then spray the colour you want.

  • @flare9757
    @flare9757 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How will you prevent the paint from spreading to other areas as you move (plates scraping together)?

    • @BucketheadStudios
      @BucketheadStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The scraping isn't bad. The whole thing has a matte clearcoat over the top. The only place I've really noticed is under arm where the bicep rubs the chest plate. Just adds more weathering 😄

      @@BucketheadStudios I have that same problem with my forearms, belt face, thigh tops edges, belt, and helmet top. And given it is crimson paint..... well, it is a pain. Probably going to scrub it with a rough pad to remove it and clear coat it *again.*

    What orange paint did you use?

    • @BucketheadStudios
      @BucketheadStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a UK brand Halfords Warehouse Orange enamel. The RAL is 2003, if you need to get a colour match 🙂

    Is there any particular shade of orange that is best to use that, glossy or flat?

    • @BucketheadStudios
      @BucketheadStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use one that is RAL2008. The one I used happened to be an enamel paint. I matte clear coat my helmet and armour afterwards, because I prefer the look, so no preference to the original finish

    What was the white you had used prior to the orange?

    • @BucketheadStudios
      @BucketheadStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really get on with Rustoleum paints, the white I use for all my builds is Rustoleum Painters Touch White, and for this I used the Matt finish one

    Would liquid latex for nail art work?

    • @BucketheadStudios
      @BucketheadStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I believe it would, if you can apply it accurately enough. Bear in mind it will gum up brushes rather quickly

  • @MrTrevorhorton11

    any chnace you have any templates?

    • @BucketheadStudios
      @BucketheadStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the paint or armour? In either case no, the armour is vac formed from the maker Imperial Surplus and the paint is eye-balled 🙂

  • @Benjamin088

    Can you please provide a link or name of the liquid latex?

    • @BucketheadStudios
      @BucketheadStudios  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just goes by liquid latex, can buy small pots or large ones. Also called masking fluid in art shops (used for watercolour painting mostly)
