I've met Glenn a few times. I was really nervous the first time I met him. It was at comic con in around 1994 or so. I was told by people never give him a CD of your band...ultimately I gave it a shot and he was very nice and took it. Then in around 2002 he bought a piece of art off me on e bay. I saw the name on the purchase and was like..."what??" (I am a professional comic artist) but we ended up talking on the phone...again super nice and just so welcoming. I met him again at comic con a few other times. Always totally cool and super mellow. He loves art and we talked a bit about some idols we share. I have seen Glenn live a few times. First was in around 1987 at a club called Rio's down in Point Loma...they were fucking great. I saw them again in 1989 with Soundgarden opening for them and that was awesome too...so for me. Glenn is the man. I love his whole career and he's a hard fucking worker!!
Salutations, Yeah, I concur on your surmisations on the Man.... people like to pick at the same wounds when it comes to Glenn, everyone seems to know what buttons to push to garner his attitude, if and when they usually consciously choose to do so. It is those people whom are most apt, because they are predetermined, to piss him off.... and he has the right to be angry! I met him several times, and seen at least a dozen Danzig shows.... no one received something for nothing, he was always cordial and kept his cool even with people thrusting albums in his face with demands that he sign them. And I can speak for most fans by saying; we wish the old lineup would have been eternal.... Though, I am glad he does things as he wants, choosing to be a part in all phases of record production.... ready to change artistic direction or remain true to what people would consider his roots.... love him or hate him. For me, each album has it's own damn merit. Whenever I hear the gripes I wonder, why would they waste the time talking about the matter if they truly dislike the music or his voice so much? Revel in whatever phase one decides or grow with along with the changes. People are cruel, especially interviewers.... but then, so are the people that know someone best. These fellows almost get it, but then, they end up losing.... I can make that statement only because I am judging the ones whom are passing judgement.... most people suck as they tend to push some bs scientific opinion upon everyone around them, while the experience and gain of empirical knowledge is often the better basis.... to each their own. I have purchased every damn album in some form, some tracks took a little longer to grow on me while others were instant favourites.... regardless, I have no regrets! When it comes to John Christ, not too many people understand what he has been through; a terrible car accident, nearly losing his fretting hand. Thanks to hard work and mental acuity, not to leave out months of hardcore therapy, he is jamming again.... and very well! There are a few interviews in recent months on youtube that are worth searching for. Eerie, I love all his post-Danzig material.... everything about him is classic, country songs included. That goes equally for what Chuck was part of, even though I dearly wish he was still hammering those beats.... but everyone should respect that he hung the drumsticks up to honour the passing of his elder brother, famously known as "Dimwit", who was also his favourite percussionist. In a perfect world there would be a reunion, hey the Misfits did it! ....why cannot Danzig? Cheers and Thank you for your perception and experiences!
Lovin' it! Two thoughts, Alex - you're out of your fucking mind about Lord of the Thighs. Danzig's shitty old man karaoke is nothing on 70s era Aerosmith. And in defence of Tommy Victor, I'm not really a fan of his in Danzig's band, but I think he's much better in his main band Prong (though he really does milk those pinch harmonics). There's a handful of Prong songs that I love for running to. I'd probably recommend Cleansing if I had to pick one album of theirs. It is very 90s groove metal, but very cool for what it is (especially Snap Your Fingers and Whose Fist...) AND it's got Ted Parsons (ex-Swans) on drums.
Since Aerosmith’s days look numbered I imagine the podcast will be covering them eventually (same as all classic rock bands tbh). For me they have 3 great albums in Toys in the Attic, Rocks & Night in the Ruts (which is severely underrated) & a lot of the other like the debut haven’t aged as well. Despite that I imagine given Aerosmith’s style, attitude & music Mike will absolutely soil himself and cry for his Motheerrrrrrr when that happens (still love Mike regardless).
@@SomerankeroffYT Night in the Ruts is a great shout. I wouldn't claim it's their best album, but if I want to listen to Aerosmith, I often reach for that.
@@tomosmansounds I’d say Ruts is number 3 (after rocks then toys) followed by the other 70s albums. The less said about the song-doctor era of Aerosmith AKA the rest, the better.
@@SomerankeroffYT I have to agree that the post-reform albums have got some real stinkers. I won't deny the guilty pleasure of some of those singles though. Toys and Rocks are hard to fault. Get Your Wings is probably my other favourite of the 70s albums, although I enjoy the ragged excess of Draw The Line. The debut I don't really bother with. I never got why Steven Tyler is so emotionally connected to Mama Kin.
Wish Danzig would have done the Elvis album in the Rubin years when he had a top producer and his vice hadn't diminished. Could have been something really special. Still a good album though. It grew on me.
The first 4 albums are untouchable. How The Gods Kill is my favorite Danzig album closely followed by Danzig IV. I Luciferi is probably the best Danzig record post-original lineup because it's so diverse. Songs like "Liberskull," "Dead Inside" and "Coldest Sun" showcase the band's versatility. I like Circle of Snakes as its more dynamic than its predecessor though there's a slight decline in musicianship. Black Laden Crown is the one Danzig record that hasn't grown on me. It's just lacking.
I never listened anything after Danzig V, so it was really fun hearing the later period Danzig reviews. Sorry his voice was gone. It's a good thing you talked just about the music cause there's another podcast when they talk for several episodes about Danzig, the person, the Diva. He is very funny but not in a good way, kind of an ass. Well, that podcast it's funny. Still you can't take away from him those brilliant first five albums, yes I said five not four, I like "that one" too cause at least he tried something different and experimental there.
his voice wasn’t gone. saw him in 2013 and he blew my mind because I was expecting the voice not to be great due to internet forums compiling. he RIPPED
This was fun. I checked out at circle of snakes. That album was such dogshit and I don't feel like anything was any better. Lately, there's been alot of "bootleg" vinyl popping up. I snatched all of it except final descent. Even got the official blackacidevil. Looking forward to 666 and 777 vinyl reissues. Rumors of circle of snakes getting reissued, unless there's a massively updated remix, I'm passing. There could be a good album there, but I could not get past that shitty mix job. And I LOVE Samhain, so yeah.
Everyone I know that's a mild to non-danzig fan says danzing and I wanna bitch slap them every time! I can get over the Samhain mispronunciation. To me, Samhain is the band, "Sah-o-when" is the holiday

Danzig played when death has no name in 89 at the Trocadero in Philly

Another band I've been sleeping on. Have the first album, clearly need a couple more. Another good episode.
First 4 👍👍👍👍
Deth Red Sabaoth is by far his best album post-the classic 4
Ya’ll earned your keep with this one. I couldn’t have been able to listen to anything past 3. BTW: where’s part 2 of Melvins?
It damn near destroyed us.

Can someone show me the misfits episode ?? I can’t find it was it taken down ?!?!?
Honestly stopped listening to Danzig when John Christ left the band but their first three are legendary.
Devil's Plaything is the second best song on the Album
When death has no name was supposed to be on the first album and was cut and changed a little for the second and it never made on any of the three

It's Danzig bro...not Danzing

Just introduced Danzig's first two albums to a older guy at work, he loves it. Pronounces it Danznig
I had no idea Glenn Danzig was that fucking short.
There are 2 eras of the band danzig... Chuck and after chuck... Best gd drummer ever.. John Bonham in the rest can suck it 😂...except moon...he is # 2
They should re release every Danzig album with a great value logo on each cover because it's the generic shit ever.
