How to fit 35s on a Lexus GX470

- So after looking at all the different options to upgrade my wheels and tires I finally found them. Now let's get dirty we need to cut and modify the body mount, pinch weld and bumpers in order to fit this 35'' tires.

Alignment specs are HUGE to prevent rubbing. Even with aggressive BMC, pinch weld mod and tons trimming, I still had rubbing off road. Had to set at 4* positive caster to get rid of it comepletely.

sweet set up primo. looks good. I was thinking about going up to 33s from my current 31.5s but I think I might make the jump straight to the 35s. already go the pinch welds done and the body mount chop when I had the lift kit put it cause I knew I'd go bigger later. The look is lean and mean. Gotta get some rock sliders on it on mine and I think that would give your rig that nice finishing touch.

I did the same thing I had 31.5 and justo straight to 35s. I definitely need to get some rock sliders I already had some close calls.

We cross that bridge when we get there 😂. I think once I adjust the caster I should be fine but you might be right and I may still need to cut some more when it flex.

You’re welcome I enjoyed doing it, mine it was a 2007 and I contemplated on getting one of those units but I never had any issues with my display so I didn’t see any reason to do it unless you want Bluetooth music.

@@GabesGarage yea. Garage kept and well maintained. It it's the high 200k but I don't really mind considering that we have a sienna that has 320k and hasn't given us an issue. It has a 2" inch lift and I'm thinking in the far future to add 35". Do you think they will fit.?
@@CristianCruz-jf4iw 35s will not fit with a 2” lift, miles don’t worry about it mine has 240k already. As long as all maintenance been taking care off they last forever. I can show you mine so you can see how the 35s seat on it just let me know if I can help.
@@GabesGarage That'd be great man. What do you think is the maximum size for the 2". And how much do you average mpg with the tires?
to find the actual mileage there is some calculations you have to do since the MPG calculator on the GX is set to use factory size tire. I believe I'm getting about 15 MPG once you add the percentage of the new tire size I have to double check. with a 2" lift you should be able to run some 33s. That's what most people run on this trucks and they're more than capable for the most.
I corret my speedometer on myy GX470 with 35 inch tires using the universal Healspeed i got off Ebay. Dialed it right in to 100% accurate. Not that hard to do.

Great Looking ride and what quality of work you did! I am working on my Gx470 with 35 inch tires. What offset were your wheels and does more offset help clearance or hurt it with rubbing? Did you correct the speedometer after putting on your 35s?
+France Jones Thank you the wheels are 18x9 -12 offset. You’ll want to look what other people are running but to run 35s I think you need to be on -12 at the very least. Negative offset push the wheel outward. If you don’t have a lower offset like that the tire will not clear your suspension. I did not correct the speedometer the car reads about 7-10 mph less than what it should read.

I got a 3 inch lift. What’s the biggest size I can run without too many issues? I don’t mind trimming the bumper if I have too.
33s, you can run 35s but it will take a body mount chop, pinch weld and a lot of trimming. Alignment and wheel specs will be a big factor as well.
What size lift do you have?
+Alan Nido it measured 3.5” total after the lift kit. I got a video when I installed the lift kit and it shows measurements from before and after.
How’s your shift points on it with the 35s does it have and delayed shifting in higher gears
+Andrew Johnson it does sometimes but mostly if I’m towing. I shift it manually when I’m towing.

@@briangarrett9839 I didn’t measure it but you can just put the plate from the bottom of the body mounts and see where you can make your marks.
How much lift does the car have?

How much would you charge to do that
I was quoted 150 for the BMC by a good fabricator. If I would have to do everything BMC, Pinch weld and bumper trimming I would say around 300-400. But honestly I rather don’t because like the bumper trimming it depends a lot on your personal preference on how you want it to look.
