Pocket did double powermoves than issei but the way he express himself, enjoying every beat with funky attitude, and signature powermoves makes him different. Pocket already knew who he is facing that's why he used several power moves from different set at once.
Bboy pocket is a 1 round Bboyer, he only can win 1 round using power moves and in this case he didn't even do that. You can't do the same move for every round expecting to win as the judges will expect you can't do anything else which is true.
thought I was the only one who thought so aha...literally every other comment except yours is riding Issei. Not that he is bad but, this particular round should have went to Pocket. =p
Ajinkya Parulekar it's not even that Pocket only does power moves. Pocket does technical and difficult moves. 1 handed airtracks to 2 handed airtracks. These are some of the hardest ones to pull. Only a few bboys can pull those. Pocket was also hitting beats if you go back and watch him. Issei's whole set was dope for sure but in this round it was mainly hype. I've seen stronger rounds from him. Either way, we're entitled to our own. Props to both bboys. 2 of the greatest.
Issei had the crowd more but, in terms of technicality and difficulty Pocket should have taken this one. Issei is great but, this particular round was hype but def not his strongest.
Judges look for so much more than just the difficulty of moves. You can really see Pocket's weaknesses here (he did a handstand for his freeze at the end, for christs sake), and Issei took full advantage. It was a six to one decision, that doesn't happen in a battle that's even remotely close.
It's not buying into anything. Even discounting everything else, Issei's set was a fantastic response. Battling isn't gymnastics, there's an ebb and a flow to it. It's a performance art, not a contest of strength. Pocket rocked his style, and I know how hard the shit he was doing is from experience. It took me close to a year and a half to get continuous airflares. But if doing the hardest moves won every battle, Pocket would never lose, and breaking would be a lot more simplistic and boring.
Issei had a good set don't get me wrong. And I never said power was everything. In this specific round, Issei's moves in my thought did not top Pocket's, he basically hit a few beats, did his mod windmills and hyped up the crowd. Pocket had a lot more going on, powermove, original moves, hitting beats, hyping the crowd, and mastering a basic freeze. You even see Pocket pointing to Issei when his mills almost crashed/lost momentum. I've seen stronger sets from Issei. And if you think Pocket is all gymnastics and strength then you've missed his whole take on dancing. Really go back and watch Pocket...slow it down...then go and watch Issei..slow it down. You'll see what I mean...maybe aha. Either way, both bboys are world champions in my book. Like I said before, just in this specific round...my hat goes off to Pocket. Issei still a beast though and becoming a favorite. And Props to you, keep killing it in the dance world.
I see what you're saying, and I can see what Pocket's doing without slowing it down. What he didn't do is footwork, or anything interesting with his toprock, or a decent freeze. And I have respect for both of them, too. And for you. I like discussing this stuff online because it gives me a chance to share my perspective on the dance with other bboys. To me, it's all about either matching what your opponent did (all four elements + musicality + originality), or, as usually is the case for Pocket, completely overwhelming them with a single element so far ahead that you can win at a handicap. Which honestly, is what Pocket not doing footwork/real toprock is in the eyes of the judges. He didn't manage to overwhelm Issei here in my opinion. Issei's power is actually very difficult to do, not as difficult as Pocket's, but the fact that his round was well rounded pushed him over the top for me.
I love how at 1:59, Pocket turns his head as if Issei actually punched him XD
What is the song's name?

Pocket win!! :/
thought I was the only one who thought so aha...literally every other comment except yours is riding Issei. Not that he is bad but, this particular round should have went to Pocket. =p
IMO the toprock from Issei alone won him the rounds,Pocket can do some crazy power movies..but that's all he does.
Ajinkya Parulekar it's not even that Pocket only does power moves. Pocket does technical and difficult moves. 1 handed airtracks to 2 handed airtracks. These are some of the hardest ones to pull. Michael Douglas At first I was like, pocket won this until Issei did a freeze at 1:15 that made me drop my jaw! Never seen that beforeb
pocket have no style no footwork no nothing! only power!
pocket killer issei!! pocket 「^^;」haha .nice pocket too
The level of difficulty goes to pocket....i know it's not all about power moves but come on, pocket murdered him in that set
hyunchurchoi with the same shit he does in every battle lol
Style is everything bro
But with same combos everytime
Pocket is not a complete BBOY!! Power Moves and that's it? ppsstt, his legs are too short! he doesn't even look like a normal man when he dances
Issei messed up on the shirt move and I believe he's one of the best but pocket got him this time
Issei had the crowd more but, in terms of technicality and difficulty Pocket should have taken this one. Issei is great but, this particular round was hype but def not his strongest.

go back and look at Issei's set aha. Judges bought into what your saying exactly. To one his own.
It's not buying into anything. Even discounting everything else, Issei's set was a fantastic response. Battling isn't gymnastics, there's an ebb and a flow to it. It's a performance art, not a contest of strength.
