Great vlog. I love Thrillers and Mysteries as well and I have loved Agatha Christie since I was a young child. ‘Death on the Nile’ is a good one, as is ‘The Murder of Roger Ackroyd’ and ‘And then there were None’. Miss Marple is great as well. ‘Murder at the Vicarage’ is a good place to start.

Yes!!! I LOVE the Mercy Thompson series!! I have read every book as soon as it’s released. If you like that series you should check out the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter. Slightly different feel but equally good. Also, Zane books were so spicy! But the chokehold those books had on an entirely inappropriate audience…. Eric Jerome Dickey wasn’t much better tho. Some of his stuff was kinda dark and off the wall too, def not reading for teens. 😂 So glad I found your channel!

Beverly Jenkins is one of the best authors for historical fiction, in my opinion. I am more interested in reading about Black and other POC historical fiction. Otherwise historical fiction is a no.

Oh, my friend has quite a bit on her plate, so we can't discuss books in the same capacity that we used to, unfortunately 🥲. Such are the ebs and flows of life 🤷🏾♀️. Finding the time to read is so true! Even if we can only carve out 30 minutes a day to do so. Reading can really shift your mood, and that is the amazing thing about it. As for my neighbour *le sigh*, they don’t anger me per say lol but they can definitely work a nerve, especially when I'm trying to focus on reading lol. I like to read in silence 😌. Like you, I also do not care for historical fiction (and I don’t go anywhere near self help). I do like a little horror but not the bloody kind. 😂 For spooky season I did read a novella called The Willows by Algernon Blackwood. I’m just sayin’……. It’s more cosmic/psychological. It was definitely easier the third time around 😂. Funny enough, I just picked up 'Project Hail Mary' a few days ago! I'm looking forward to getting into it in the new year. The fascinating thing about reading is truly discovering your likes and dislikes. I love thrillers and am currently doing a very shallow dive into different kinds, and I've come to a few different conclusions. I'll probably talk about that in the next video. Will have to take a look into 'The Willows'. Thank you for the rec! My TBR is getting longer by the day 😂.
This is a wild coincidence, I also have a learning disability, started in French Immersion, switched to an English school in 3rd grade, and read a Magic Schoolhouse book as my first chapter book (it was the Ancient Egypt one). What are the odds??

Lol, thats fair! The expansion of YA over the last few years is honestly impressive, so I'm sure there is a YA novel or series out there for you. Hopefully I will be able to change your mind lol. I guess great minds think alike 😂. Did you read This Poison Heart? If so, did you like it? Also, if you have any other Greek mythology recommendations, let me know 💁🏾♀️💕. One of the YA recs that I enjoyed was Instructions for Dancing by: Nicola Yoon. If you haven't read that yet you might like it.
@@turningpageswithdom I read the book and the sequel but I do think the first book was a bit better, I liked it especially the writing style. I think what my problem with YA is that most characters in YA tend to be to immature for me and since I’m 25 I think I’ve just grown out of that. I like Greek Mythology and I tend to be really picky with retellings of them. I’ve read Madeline Miller her books, they’re okay. I also read Stephen Fry’s book Mythos which was good but otherwise I haven’t read many of them. I tried reading Lore by Alexandra Bracken but i dnfed it after a while, I just hated it 😅 I actually have Instructions of Dancing lying around but I never got to it, i definitely will try it! Great vlog. I love Thrillers and Mysteries as well and I have loved Agatha Christie since I was a young child. ‘Death on the Nile’ is a good one, as is ‘The Murder of Roger Ackroyd’ and ‘And then there were None’. Miss Marple is great as well. ‘Murder at the Vicarage’ is a good place to start.

Yes!!! I LOVE the Mercy Thompson series!! I have read every book as soon as it’s released. If you like that series you should check out the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter. Slightly different feel but equally good. Also, Zane books were so spicy! But the chokehold those books had on an entirely inappropriate audience…. Eric Jerome Dickey wasn’t much better tho. Some of his stuff was kinda dark and off the wall too, def not reading for teens. 😂 So glad I found your channel!
Oooooow another series similar to MT. Anyone who loves the Mercy Thompson series has good taste in my book 😂. Even though Zane and Eric Jerome Dickey were inappropriate, we sure had a time reading them 😂😂. Oh the memories!

Brooooooo I LOVEEEEEEEE Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega series!! ! You are first person I’ve seen talk about!!! I’m definitely subscribing. Beverly Jenkins is one of the best authors for historical fiction, in my opinion. I am more interested in reading about Black and other POC historical fiction. Otherwise historical fiction is a no.

Dunno if you're into YA, action, gore (two very important scenes in the first book), fantasy/romance with Greek Mythology and a bit of the paranormal sprinkled in, but my book will actually be a duology with an eventual spin-off novel. For now, what I can tell you, is that my first book will be called: "The Night-Dwellers". Oh, my friend has quite a bit on her plate, so we can't discuss books in the same capacity that we used to, unfortunately 🥲. Such are the ebs and flows of life 🤷🏾♀️. Finding the time to read is so true! Even if we can only carve out 30 minutes a day to do so. Reading can really shift your mood, and that is the amazing thing about it. As for my neighbour *le sigh*, they don’t anger me per say lol but they can definitely work a nerve, especially when I'm trying to focus on reading lol. I like to read in silence 😌.

It was definitely easier the third time around 😂. Funny enough, I just picked up 'Project Hail Mary' a few days ago! I'm looking forward to getting into it in the new year. The fascinating thing about reading is truly discovering your likes and dislikes. I love thrillers and am currently doing a very shallow dive into different kinds, and I've come to a few different conclusions. I'll probably talk about that in the next video. One of the YA recs that I enjoyed was Instructions for Dancing by: Nicola Yoon. If you haven't read that yet you might like it.
@@turningpageswithdom I read the book and the sequel but I do think the first book was a bit better, I liked it especially the writing style. I think what my problem with YA is that most characters in YA tend to be to immature for me and since I’m 25 I think I’ve just grown out of that. I like Greek Mythology and I tend to be really picky with retellings of them. I’ve read Madeline Miller her books, they’re okay. I also read Stephen Fry’s book Mythos which was good but otherwise I haven’t read many of them. I tried reading Lore by Alexandra Bracken but i dnfed it after a while, I just hated it 😅
I actually have Instructions of Dancing lying around but I never got to it, i definitely will try it! Thank you for the recommendation ☺️
