Fastest Shower Pan I've Ever Installed!!! --- Tile Redi with Compression Drain Connection

- When you don't have access from below, whether it be from a concrete slab foundation or a second story bathroom, the drain connection for a pre fomed tiled shower pan can be tricky. If you have to use a traditional PVC or ABS cement to connect the sewer pipe it makes it even more difficult becuase the pipe cement needs to be applied before the pan goes in and it can dry up if it is not connected to the sewer pipe in time.
Tile Redi (Redi Your Way) is a pre-sloped, waterproofed, tile shower pan that can be built with a compression (NO CAULK) drain. This way the pan can be installed and then the connection can be done from above after the pan is set.
If you are looking for a fast, dependable, stong and leak proof tile shower pan, I highly recommend Tile Redi products. For more information, or to place an order, go to my website here:

Just a tip - I tie a thin piece of string to the tightening key. That way if it should slip down the drain, you can easily fish it back out!👍
Seeing you recording outside makes me miss California, I used to live in Livermore and man northern Cali is so beautiful.
It really is!
I love that shower pan shimmy dance! I'm very interested in this system for my bathroom reno. It looks like this custom pan is completely different from the standard ones. This one looks like its solid with a flat bottom and much tougher. The regular one has ribs on the bottom and made from foam ( I found a video on home depot that shows the regular one needs a 1 inch Type N/S mortar bed, not thinset like this one)
You are correct. They have 2 types of pans; custom (black) and stock (white)
LOVE this system...no stupid multi paper system in a wet space. Wish I would have gone into trades, at 56...a little too late to do it full time
It all depends. I was a car mechanic (certified master tech) 18-38 but got tired of all the chemicals, did some service writing and then went into IT work into my early 50s but got tired of staring at a monitor all day long and started doing handyman work on my own in my mid 50s doing a bathroom remodel with a tile shower right now at 69 yrs old.. I could have never worked as a helper or for a company at 55 but working on my own 5-6 hrs a day for 4-5 days a week is doable even at 69 is doable.

Hi Coach! God bless u bro! You’ve helped so many ppl but you’re doing a greater work influencing faith even without a specific word!
Great video issac I installed one of the tile redi pans because of your videos I absolutely loved it simple and solid. I used the flashing as well it’s as easy. And piece of mind. Thank you for all your help through your videos
Glad I could help Craig. Nice Rainbow!
@@TileCoach haha. It was a bucket list for me I live in Santa Barbara. A local lake 7.3 pounds biggest I’ve ever come close to landing. Thanks again truly I’m no expert by any means. Mostly home building and remodels I’ve only done five or more showers using old methods. 65 years old this system was not just simple. Great product and bulletproof . I’d been contemplating building the shower in a remodel I’m doing now and watching all your videos and seeing all the issues with some of the newer products. Tile redi was a no brainer. Thank you and keep up the great work.
I love your videos. I was on the fence with my project. Now I’m gonna do this. Our shower is down for some time Your very positive with your messages to ALL AGES. IM A RETIRED POLICE OFFICER. 67 years old. Dad was a plumber. Gone now 2hen I use his tools I pay tribute to pop. He used to watch your videos…said you were a god guy giving to the WORKING MAN TRADES. POP WOULD Have LIKED TO SHOOT THE SHIT WITH YOU,, I WOULD Have TOLD HIM YOU HAD A SUBARU….😊
Perfect timing, I'm dealing with a weird drain location on a slab.
They will put the drain wherever you like, totally customizable.
Me too. 4# mini sledge and cold chisel is how I had to move mine. Luckily, I only had to move mine about a foot.
Great dance moves coach! That was a good set. 😀
Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Stay tuned
Great pan coach ~ we looked at this option, but since it actually cost more that a traditional pan BEFORE any tile are installed! So went with a one-piece shower pan as there is no tile needed and the failure rate is the lowest of any possible shower floor installation. My wife loves it!
That is a good way to go too. Our clients want the look and feel of a tile shower pan, so thats why we use the Tile Redi.
Funny I just mentioned that they should do a top down drain on your last vid and here it is 10 days later and they are on board LOL
Great minds think alike
You should do a curbless tile redi pan on a slab. Thats a really hard one lol
Sounds like you are chellenging me haha. Let's do it!
Im diggin the tile redi pan, you answered a couple questions I had in the video.
Thanks Ben
I am planning on a bathroom remodel soon and absolutely love the fact that you've introduced me to this Tile Redi system! It seems foolproof for a beginner and takes care of my worries of it leaking at the corners like you described. My question is which version of this do you prefer/which is "better"? This pan you basically treat like a giant tile with the thinset, but the other pan you have to create a thick bed for it to sit in and bond to. I feel like this pan is easier install because you don't have to fiddle with the thickness of the 'bed' of thinset like the other. What are your thoughts on it now that you have used both? Thank you for all of this fantastic information you provide! The videos are always entertaining and it's fun to learn a new thing!
I tend to like the black ones better. But the white ones are in stock and faster turnaround, which I like to use on jobs that I need it quickly. They are both great pans.
TileCoach, I can't get enough of your content, so I subscribed!
Yeah!! That just means I need to make more haha. Thank you!
Can we next see the curbless tileredi pan???
Lets do it! Stay tuned
Great video, Isaac! Thank you!
My pleasure!
I burn in the bottom of the pan with a flat troweled layer of thinset.
It is a good product...the custom curb size is great for maximizing shower space. The lead times on the custom bases, and cost are the downsides...
Greatest system in the world. Till next month.
I guess I’m in the building trades…I’ve been doing this kind of thing since my mid twenties but only for myself. Too busy and worn out to do it for anyone else. 😅
I would love to see a curbless install. TileRedi might be great but their support lacks.... There are no specific instructions for their curbless installation, nor do they seem to know how to transition from their pan to the main bath floor. We would love to use this system transitioning to Schulter Ditra underlayment if possible. Or? Love to see a video, but we would also pay for a consultation if you think this is possible. Or maybe I just go for it, LOL. (little O leak). Thanks...
What drill are you using to mix the thinset?.... great video 👏👏
Great video as usual appreciate it. I am planning a shower renovation with a stand alone tub shower combo, roughly 6 ft x 6ft. So i would need 2 drains do you think this Tile Redi pan system would work with that type of installation? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Great vids! Tile Redi and others tell us to be sure to use a vapor barrier under the mortar bed, and they say to ONLY use Type S mortar for pan install.
I see you use no tar paper, and say to use modified thin set? Tell us why?
Appreciate your great content man!
There are two types of Tile Redi pans, the ones with ribs and the flat bottom black ones. The black ones there is no vapor barier needed, just thinset to the floor.
You did it look so simple! Is this Redi shower pan customized to meet the size?
Yes, you provide us with your exact measurements, drain location, number of curbs/height/width and we'll create your pan made to your custom needs.
@@TileRedi_US - Thank you! Do you have any instruction for drain connection when using Redi Pan?
Kinda surprised you didn't wet (sponge) the floor before applying the thinset!
No need especially with Platinum. Good luck to the poor soul who has to remove it
Glad I found this video! Question, so the shower pans on the website aren't black like this one and they also aren't flat on the bottom. How did I get this type from this video with the compression drain?
The black flat bottoms are custom built to your spec. The white are stock sizes/drain locations
I'm surprised they don't set up for a Flow Fx drain. Is that something you can request?
I am doing my best to convince them! At a minumum I know they are curreently working on more drain grate designs
Man those pans are nice. I just wish they didn't cost such an insane amount of money.
buy once cry once
Yeah, except I can say the same about every other type of prefabricated shower pan that costs a tiny fraction of these.
So much controversy out there on thin setting directly to a wood subfloor. I'm about to install my Redi Your Way pan to Advantech subfloor. Think I'm just gonna clean the floor good, damp wipe it down and use All Set
this right off the Ready Tile instructions :DO NOT PLACE THIN-SET DIRECTLY ON A WOOD OR GYP-CRETE
SUBSTRATE. FIRST, WATERPROOF THE SUBSTRATE WITH A FLUID
APPLIED WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE, OR NO. 15 OR NO. 30
ROOFING PAPER SO THE WOOD DOES NOT ABSORB THE WATER
FROM THE THIN-SET
Hi. I’ve tried your link to the Tile redi pan and all the options showed only the round drain grill. Where are the square ones ?
Thank you..
How come no vapor barrier if you are installing on the wood subfloor?
would you say tile redi pans are the easiest for DIY beginners?
I have questions about installing a tile redi seat. Where it goes to the pan is it the same as a wall board with the flashing or does something different have to be done?
they just cut a piece of a stud out like that, is that ok to do?
Isn't a rough surface the exact reason to back butter for the best bond?
A rough surface will grab the mortar very well, so you don't really need to back butter. The only reason I woudl think you would is if you are unsure of your skill. I'm not an expert tile installer, so I always back butter when I do work on my house. I'm pretty sure that the tile would be fine if I didn't but I would rather err on the side of caution.
@@MAGAMAN the reason for back buttering is to create as close to 100% coverage as possible. Rough surfaces create voids. That’s why we back butter tile, because of the not smooth surface.
Its a rough surface, not really lugged like tile is. But good question! Back butter wouldn't hurt, just not sure if it would help in this case.
Is tile redi available in the UK
I don’t think so
what's the rationale for leaving all that black stuff (mold?) on the wall/insulation and OSB subfloor?
that was residue from the previous shower pan that was a hot mop. no issue.
Nice porsche.. thought Californians are supposed to have license plates on the front of their cars. Lol
We are rebels haha
Just talked to Tile Redi and they said the compression drain they offer is just for cast iron drains. You clearly are cutting a plastic drain line in the video. I’m interested in installing a pan on a plastic drain. Can you explain what’s going on?
The compression drain is made of cast iron. They can connect on 2" PVC, ABS, or Cast Iron sewer lines. Hope that answers your question
on these custom sized redi pans, do you gut the shower first then measure and wait for them?
We recommend that you have the shower gutted so that you know your exact measurements and your drain placement.
Shower pan shuffle
Yeah, that's nice. But I'm old school to build my shower. I know you do this for a living and time is money, but I still question new products
So you question you talking pain killers too?
@@j.johnson8360 Absolutely! The entire medical system is corrupt. But you sound fully vaxed and boosted, so you probably wouldn't get it. RIP.
Tile Redi has been making shower pans since 1998. If there were problems I would know about it. It is smart to question new things though.
@@j.johnson8360 , no, but the way my body hurts after about 45 or 50 years of construction I should be. I've been doing tile since 90 and I was taught the old school way is all I was saying.
Check out the 2 step!! 😂
What the heck. I just bought mine and it didn’t have this type of drain. I feel ripped off.
I'm sorry, but this adjustable cast iron drain is available on our Redi Your Way pans upon request.
Same, just had this delivered without the compression nut at the drain. Wish I knew this was an option prior to ordering. Wonder if the drain hole can be modified to add the compression system? Also, I ordered a square drain grate but the pan came with a round in inset. Again, wish I would have known prior to ordering.
Hello..I plan to install this ledgerstone..do I need to apply some kind of sealant between the quartz countertop and the sheet rock behind my sink (besides culk)? here is a sample of someone installing same type of tiles...th-cam.com/video/bMyvPtjzjd8/w-d-xo.html Thanks...
