War photography in the Crimean War - and while talking this up, all you can show us are a bunch of paintings?? Where are the photos? You know, you can find tons of Matthew Brady photos of the US Civil War, which was only a few years later; was it really that difficult to find any Crimean War photos?
The reason soldiers standing at attention sometimes faint as the English soldier (Apparently a "Beef Eater" a name for imperial guards) did in the photograph with Queen Elizabeth inspecting them was that often some soldiers will lock their knees and in some instances obstruct the flow of blood which if they stand to long will lead to fainting. When I was in the army we were often cautioned to not lock our knees which will not interrupt the flow of blood to the brain and lead to this embarrassing happenstance.
The soldier is not a "Beef Eater" but a regular British Army Guardsman. I can't see clearly but the emblem on his epaulette appears to be a leek (vegetable) which would make him a Welsh Guard. Other Guards units include the Coldstream Guards, Scots Guards, Grenadier Guards and Irish Guards. None of them would welcome being called a "Beef Eater", which is the colloquial name for a Yeoman Warder, made up of retired Warrant Officers of the services with at least 22 years good service behind them. I'm ex-Royal Navy and I was taught to keep the knees slightly bent and to wriggle my toes within my boots. You'll see in the photo that the Guards are at attention so, as they are considered to be the smartest of soldiers on parade, they are likely to have their knees fully locked and spine as stiff as a ram rod; not good for circulation. You can also see that the sun is bright and fully out and don't forget that he may well have been on parade for two hours (not always at attention) before the Queen came out. Don't be fooled by the fact that they do lots of ceremonial duties though; they are all tough regularly army units in both infantry and light cavalry formations with many battle honours, some going back to the English Civil War.
@Jason Bourne I'm a liberal, and would love a training like that, and would send my kids. As long as gun safety is taken seriously. My kids will grow up knowing how to handle and AK, and an AR. Hopefully they will also grow up being able to go to college without taking on massive debt, trust in science, value intelligence; and learning, live in a world not destroyed by climate chance, and be able to see a doctor without having to go broke.
@right back at ya Indeed they don’t. Small children are much better suited for activities such as using a Heavy Machine Gun or a Mortar since it will encouraged teamwork and each individual part isn’t as have as an AR or AK.
8:19 There’s a difference between scouts and cadets. Scouts has almost nothing to do with military but cadets is literally military school and a lot of countries do it. The UK cadets are almost the same as the Russians
I have been in scouting my whole life, I started in Beavers when I was 4 and am now 17, a member of the TAO explorer unit. My brother (3 years younger) swapped to army cadets because he thought Scouting was to 'unprofessional' and complains cadets isn't fun. If you're not in scouting, I highly recommend it.

One of our Lt.s fell out during a parade at Ft. Bliss in El Paso. As he was out in front of the formation, nothing could be done until after the parade. We watched as the Sargent Major side stepped out of the way. If a soldier in the formation fell out, two troops behind him caught him by the upper arms and passed him back. Then everyone stepped forward and a new man came up to the open slot in the rear. Also, we were told if we pass out and wake up, DO NOT GET BACK UP!

Teamwork, ability to follow orders to a "T" and adapt to any situation quickly are the best baseline qualities all soldiers should have. Living in hell is a luxury, keyword being "Living". One of the main goals of basic training is to push you up and over your own limitations among others. I ended up building what I called the "Executive Shower" lol, Found an old coleman camping shower head, used a 150 gallon airplane fuel bladder I found at the Baghdad International Airport for a water supply and a multi-fuel pump from an old truck engine, 5 ton I think. Talk about luxury lol that was a slice of heaven. Set it up on some wood pallets, the floor was rubber and later old indian tiles. Ironic because the cover was in the shape of a Teepee. I'd have to pick General "Stormin Normin" Schwarzkopf because he was totally down to earth and a straight up kinda guy. At a senior commanders conference in Arkansas, after a speech, he asked if there were any questions, a young private stood up and asked him if he would go out for a beer with him afterwards. Schwarzkopf said he would, and he did just that. I think the topic of discussion would be how officers could get steaks flown in to Iraq and grill them up outside there office as the smoked scent traveled all thru a camp of soldiers that were eating K-rations and MRE's for a year. Oh and also why the govt spent millions of dollars on specially designed trailer mounted mobile cooking facilities and then paid a government contractor with political ties millions of dollars to feed us at a rest stop halfway thru an 8 hour convoy route to northern Iraq. xzabath1 If memory serves me right, Tolstoy wrote "The Sebastopol Sketches" which is considered by many to be the first war correspondence. It delivered news directly from the battlefield of the Crimean War. Also, it's an excellent novel should you get an opportunity to read it.
In the 1850’s hundreds of photos were taken of the Crimean war,.. in the 1860’s, well over 10,000 photos were taken of the American Civil War,.. so it could well be argued that even tho civil war was not the first war where photos were taken, it’s definitely the more well known “first photographed war”
Um, yes the American Civil War was extensively photographed, but I'm not sure it can be called...for lack of a better phrase...'active'. Since camera tech was so slow, all the shots had to be either posed/staged or of static images (landscapes, corpses, etc) It wasn't until WW1 that camera tech could take 'action' shots, but even then they were using glass plates to hold the images for the most part. It wasn't until after they had gotten off of using glass plates that "extensive battle photos" were able to finally be reliably captured. Italian invasion of Ethiopia, Spanish Civil War...and by then a lot of the 'photography' were actually motion pictures (aka movies, news shots, etc)
Only in the US, not anywhere else. You have no idea how many photos were taken during the Crimean war. The Crimean was definitely the first war that was extensively photo'd and definitely the first war where photos combined with despatches home swayed public opinion about a war. Using your logic the first world war produced millions of photos so it could well be argued that the 1st world war is definitely the most well known "first photographed war". The 1st world war logic is better than yours as it is a genuinely well known war (1 of 2).
An "assault rifle" is any rifle used in an assault, as distinguished from a hunting rifle or target rifle. Most any rifle can be used for any of these three activities, though some are not as efficient as others, depending on the activity. I really rather have an M16 A4 in combat than an M-24.
My grandfather was in the navy, somehow got military clearance that was then left on him even after he left the service. He, my grandmother, and my father went to go visit somewhere and were required to have a background check run, the clearance was found and he all three were pulled aside and questioned, but it took hours because my grandfather didn't remember why he had any clearance level

Ummm... Boys scouts in America learn how to disassemble, clean, reassemble and shoot firearms. Fully automatic weapons are illegal in the U.S. (in violation of the constitution "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed) the operational difference is slim.
Why would any military want to suppress the pictures of a stratosphere balloon sinking into the ocean? I have seen them. They are huge. They look exactly like the pictures taken from the submarine.Stratosphere balloons aren''t mysterious alien objects, they are used to measure the chemistry and temperature of the stratosphere.
Exactly. Soldiers are supposed to be strong mentally and physically. To adapt to their surroundings. To overcome discomfort. People getting so soft particularly in the west.
You were saying on here about America having boy scouts, and Russia teaching their young about warfare as a norm .....well, we do the same in the UK...called army cadets....we simulate warfare, use shooting ranges (cadet Gp is used) A non automatic SA-80 rifle, SLR, LMGs ,Enfield rifles we use them all.....so, spreading that Russia trains young ones in warfare as extraordinary is misplaced information

When north Korean soldiers aren't going thru training or alike. They are used to help with construction of homes, roads, businesses. If they are doing that they are sent to farms to help the farmers and land owners. North Korean also won't allow photos to be taken by foreigners or media. If allowed they are very limited and told what is allowed. They also shut off all electricity to the whole country every night by 7pm to the rise of the sun.
8:37 The Russian kids doing that stuff is no different to Western kids joining the air cadets or army cadets etc. 10:27 Trained warriors or not, they are still young women and are simply doing what ALL young women enjoy doing. If you're proud of your body, why not show it off? I just wish British women were as feminine as these women obviously are.
O miss lady narrator I have a problem with the word "barrackses". Barracks is the plural form meaning a military installation . Originally in Italian French and Spanish it means a soldier's tent; Loosely its use can be intended for the place that multiple soldier sleep, That building is a barrack ; several of those buildings are barracks. The odd thing about this word is that barracks can also be the singular for the building that houses many soldiers' cots/bunks
Those pics of Israeli women soldiers made ne think of that scene in full metal jacket where the recruits training and chanting, "this is my rifle, this is my gun, one is for fightin' the other's for fun"...
First of all, there is no "early recruitment" in the Israeli military. Everyone (male and female) is inducted into the Israeli military at age 16. As this website quotes: [[The Ministry of Foreign Affairs website indicates that every citizen and permanent resident is "obliged to establish his status with the Israel Defense Forces" (IDF) upon reaching the age of 16]] Secondly, pictures of a fallen British soldier is not uncommon. Their military garb is made of heavy *wool* which, in hot days creates a great deal of overheating on the parade ground. In fact, it is so common, that soldiers are under orders to "faint at attention." This is why you will most often see these men stretched out in the exact same position as the one they stand in.
Cadets also exist in the UK for all 3 main branches of the military, as well as the police, and I know Australia definitely has Army cadets. They're open for 13-18 year olds. We also have scouts as well. I attended Army and Air cadets myself in my youth, and found them to be rather fun, especially firing rifles on ranges, camping, tackling assault courses and piloting aircraft. Doesn't sound too extreme to me. Also, troops passing out whilst on parade during Trooping the Colour isn't really too uncommon, given the parade is held during June. It's happened a fair few times.
Yeah that one didn't make sense since in the u.s we have military schools and etc. Hell we have a jrotc program in majority of our highschools. Probably not as bad as Russia but we even have rifle teams as a school sport. (Not a lot anymore since guns are "scary")
if anyone wants to know the second last item, the one about the troops bending backwards and leaning on each other, thats just a team building exercise that their platoon commander would have said randomly 'why not do this itll help with morale and team spirit'

He, my grandmother, and my father went to go visit somewhere and were required to have a background check run, the clearance was found and he all three were pulled aside and questioned, but it took hours because my grandfather didn't remember why he had any clearance level
My pick , Teddy Roosevelt. My choice of meal, Buffalo w/ fried potatoes and onions , dutch oven biscuits and gravy w/ green beans. All cooked over a campfire. In the middle of the Canadian wilderness. Eating while he tells me about his personal encounter with Sasquatch.
( look it up )
Not 1 single photo of said war?
The IDF girls don't increase recruitment as EVERY citizen male and female must serve in the IDF
If military soldiers have hot water they have more luxury than me🧠💣
Wow! Russia take boyscout seriously. Better than listening to bird sounds .😂
The Civil War was the first known photographed war
Which?
Clifton Williams no, no it wasn’t.
Which civil war?
The Crimean War was before the civ war
@@barbarabeswick3472 You would have thought that they could have shown maybe a picture from the Crimean war? Instead we get drawings and paintings. Given the context that seems... Odd.
American Civil war was the first widely photographed war. There are photos from the Crimean war.
Winston Chuchill. High quality rare steak, mashed potatoes, brocolli, and a good local brew; with Cuban cigars and high quality Kentucky bourbon for desert.
The sniper and soldier pic would be a lot more enjoyable if the shoulder was one of those Israeli female soldiers.😂😁😄😄
Ummm... Boys scouts in America learn how to disassemble, clean, reassemble and shoot firearms.
Fully automatic weapons are illegal in the U.S. (in violation of the constitution "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed) the operational difference is slim.
Do you have anything against China???
Yes.
Since when does the military dictate what is on the internet??
0:11 why the gta sound effect
Anthony123 lol
why not?
Lol didn't even noticed till the comment
Why would any military want to suppress the pictures of a stratosphere balloon sinking into the ocean? I have seen them. They are huge. They look exactly like the pictures taken from the submarine.Stratosphere balloons aren''t mysterious alien objects, they are used to measure the chemistry and temperature of the stratosphere.
The belarus military bucket cold water showers is a smart idea so if they go to war somewhere they know how to survive with out hot water and plumbing
Exactly. Soldiers are supposed to be strong mentally and physically. To adapt to their surroundings. To overcome discomfort. People getting so soft particularly in the west.
As an American veteran, I assure you.... we all appreciate the IDF women keeping our moral high.
That passed out solider most likely locked his knees
It was the heat. The bear skin hat and the rest of the uniform made him pass out. It is known to happen on occasion and is certainly not awkward.
Locked his knees, didnt hydrate properly, and obviously wasnt wearing his reflective belt 😂
If I join youtube red can I blacklist the richest videos from showing up in my video suggestion lists? Lol.
3:38 barrackses... lmfao 😂
Talk to
General Lewis "Chesty" Puller
Talk about Gen. Pullers career, military history, history of the U.S.M.C., military logistics & tactics and military technology and life in general.
Meal - ANY DAMN THING HE WANTS!!!
Unsubing.
Ritchest and Be Amazed, two of the best channels on TH-cam
11:50 that guy had a heat stroke he nearly died
8:37 The Russian kids doing that stuff is no different to Western kids joining the air cadets or army cadets etc.
10:27 Trained warriors or not, they are still young women and are simply doing what ALL young women enjoy doing. If you're proud of your body, why not show it off? I just wish British women were as feminine as these women obviously are.
What military legend would I have dinner with? Easy
Freddy bishop a Aussie hero
And We’ll be having greasy fries with some beer and a burger
O miss lady narrator I have a problem with the word "barrackses". Barracks is the plural form meaning a military installation . Originally in Italian French and Spanish it means a soldier's tent; Loosely its use can be intended for the place that multiple soldier sleep, That building is a barrack ; several of those buildings are barracks. The odd thing about this word is that barracks can also be the singular for the building that houses many soldiers' cots/bunks
That is just how baby M-1 Tanks are made.
Those pics of Israeli women soldiers made ne think of that scene in full metal jacket where the recruits training and chanting, "this is my rifle, this is my gun, one is for fightin' the other's for fun"...
"recruitment number is gonna get higher?" hmm, they already got mandatory service in isreal for both sexes XD
If the Governemt was in the least worried about deleting these photos from the internet they wouldnt be on this youtube chanel
Not surprized the Chinese tank had a rather nasty failure. Every thing else they make is junk as well.
First of all, there is no "early recruitment" in the Israeli military. Everyone (male and female) is inducted into the Israeli military at age 16. As this website quotes:
[[The Ministry of Foreign Affairs website indicates that every citizen and permanent resident is "obliged to establish his status with the Israel Defense Forces" (IDF) upon reaching the age of 16]]
Secondly, pictures of a fallen British soldier is not uncommon. Their military garb is made of heavy *wool* which, in hot days creates a great deal of overheating on the parade ground. In fact, it is so common, that soldiers are under orders to "faint at attention." This is why you will most often see these men stretched out in the exact same position as the one they stand in.
omg soldiers must use COLD WATER wtf!!!!!!!!!! im shocked!!!!
We have the Army Cadet system in the UK. Teaches, feildcraft, weapons etc.
13:40 seconds
The face you make When you question every decision which led up to this point.
At Least his head was on the outside of the snipers leg.
Thank you for another Excellent video.👏🏾🏆
Renata Gross the video had obviously been horribly worded making the militaries depicted look bad
I grew up without electricity, running water either hot or cold, plus no indoor plumbing. What is the big deal about military without showers.
They risk there lives for their country. So a hot shower is the least we can offer to them and still we ain't doing that ?
