How much better is a plaster wall from the 1950s over drywall?

Plaster depending on its thickness will absorb at a smoother rate of absorption.

Dennis, in my humble opinion, your wisdom in the physics of acoustic treatment is unmatched.

Thank you. I have to work through industry hyperbole, exaggeration, and falsehhods in order to teach people the truth. I spend more time getting caught in the weeds with people before I can get to a clearing.

I just saw a video with a million dollar stereo build, but the room was relatively small and I saw no treatment.
How can someone spend a million dollars on equipment while being completely ignorant of room treatment?
Likewise, how can someone spend a million dollars on equipment, without being AWARE of the fact that professional recording studios use ROOM TREATMENT 99 times out of 100?

In 17 years of doing this, I have seen it all. I just visited a room in LA that had glass walls. The speakers were on glass stands.

    I feel your pain Dennis.
30+ years as a retail repair mechanic and at least once a week someone tells me they know more, because they read it on the interweb.
I think the problem is that people are looking for a cheap way to accomplish something expensive. In the end though, "the only one who cons you is yourself.

In most acoustic "strategies", what costs nothing is worth nothing.
