If you're an international student looking to study in CA, I'd suggest: 1) If you think you are qualified for Stanford, CalTech or Berkeley, consider the Claremont Colleges, particularly Pomona (prestigious liberal arts) Harvey Mudd (STEM, lesser know tech powerhouse), CMC (social sciences, economics). 2) For UC's with good prospects, quality of life and slightly easier admittance: UCSB, UCSD, UCSC, UCD and UCI (more a commuter school, but still good). 3) For the Cal States (less prestigious but cheaper and greater admittance chance) Cal Poly is deceptively difficult to get into due to high in-state demand. (Approaching UC level education). SDSU good quality of life, rapidly rising profile. Cal Maritime - specialized vocation 4) The California college system is geared for transferring. Consider being admitted to any UC or CSU you can see attending, get good grades, and try a 2-year transfer to your top choices. 5) USC is very good, expensive and good QofL, but not Stanford/Ivy/Berkeley/UCLA level.

hi..!! I got an offer from Cornell. I'm seeking insights into the value of attending an Ivy League university. However, I'm unsure if it's wise to take on significant loans for this education or if I should try other universities that have the lowest fees. I'd appreciate your perspective on this dilemma.
@@CrazyMedusa Given my background coming from a small village in India and my family's financial situation, I'm facing a tough decision regarding my education. I've been offered a spot at Cornell University at MEM program, but the thought of taking on significant loans is causing me some concern, especially considering the uncertain job market right now. On one hand, without any full-time work experience as a fresh graduate of engineering, I see the potential benefits of attending an Ivy League institution like Cornell, with its resources and alumni network. Adding to the complexity, I recently received rejections from Duke and Purdue, leaving me with only Cornell as a current option. To explore alternatives, I'm also looking into applying to some state or public universities. Ultimately, if I don't secure another offer, I may need to return to my family's village and work there rest of my life.
