    When I was homeless for six years in North Hollywood, California, I was publishing my books from a local library. I contacted LA Times, Congressmen and local representatives to share my insights, ideas, and criticism of the Homeless Industrial Complex and how I saw funds being used correctly and incorrectly. They nodded their heads but never took notes. The LA Times didn't want to disrupt the millions of dollars being funneled into the Homeless Industrial Complex and told me, "It's not our job to investigate this." Thank you for taking positive steps to end homelessness. Mine ended by being hospitalized for six months and being a homeless senior. Then a church got me connected to Section 8 which I had been denied for six years.

      Wonderful that you had access to a library!!! and the internet and obviously an education - what else did you need to be successful enough to put a roof over your head. Richard, you hit the nail in the head with calling this scam "Homeless Industrial Complex". There a multitude of businesses in the US which operate under the 501 (c) (4) tax exempt code in the name of homelessness. The City of Portland passed a city tax to pay for their homeless problem.

    if he believes in it so much why doesn't he use is billions in wealth and huge land ownership to house those homeless people. Its very easy to campaign to get others to spend money. But leading is done from the front by example!

    As a Street Outreach Worker in Toronto, Canada I am in tears to be frank. I am hoping his projection of this issue can influence the Commonwealth and Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg particularly. I am moved and crying because it's just important for anyone to highlight what homelessness does to our complete cohesion as people. As nations. As communities. I'm not a Monarchist, but I value and respect what it all represents very much. Speaking on my behalf and only of my own opinions not related to any employer or anyone but my self. This is so much also about the Monarchy becoming real in the 21st century and beyond.

    Maybe I'm a cynic because I'm American. But, really, solve the homeless crisis in 5 years? I can't help but wonder if this is a way to try and stop the push to remove the royalty, to try and keep them relevant. I mean, he's a pretty expensive PR guy, after all. Homelessness isn't just a problem of housing. It's way deeper than that, both there and in the US. You don't end inequality by building houses for poor people, people who are so hopeless about being able to make it in the current economy that they'd rather just stay high. It's a deep, social and economic problem that a few new apartments won't fix.

      @MalikBarrow16 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's definitely in part fueled by a need to stay relevant, but that doesn't mean the royals can't use that to fuel an urgency to fix real problems. While I don't think he'll succeed completely, the effort is important and conversations will happen. We here in America haven't ever really made a true concerted effort to tackle homelessness. I live in Los Angeles and most efforts toward that end don't even come close to housing let alone mental health care, etc.

      @@MalikBarrow16 Oh please. Americans haven't made a true concerted effort to tackle homelessness and this royal elite has? That's utter nonsense. I'm glad he cares, but he's absolutely out of touch and probably just trying to save his own wealth/position. Ask him to give away all of his money and power and title and then see how empathetic he is.
