  • Beware of J&R Driveshafts "Uprated" driveshafts. They are weaker than OEM, poorer quality and the warranty is a lie! Many others like me, don't risk it.
This driveshaft was ordered over the phone late last year, and has covered around 1500-2000 miles. It should be in great condition. The boots are not split and haven't split, so why the joints are so worn is beyond me.
(Sorry the video is in portrait, it was originally uploaded to facebook live, which does not allow you to broadcast in landscape!)

Very helpful and perfect timing for me, I currently have 2 standard J&R shafts on mine and was half considering the uprated ones shown in this video, but ill get Ford now - it's clear these are just as useless as the normal ones.
I agree the warranty is useless, their warranty is basically "oh we'll send a new one if you can prove its our shaft". Problem is unless you're a mechanic, you're spending out labour every single time you have to take it on and off. And why on earth would I want to put another one of these on !?
On my car there is a vibration coming through the floor at 2000 - 3000 under acceleration/torque delivery ... I bet you a tenner, if I removed mine ( which i will be ) the joints would have play, just like this video.
They click now as well, when reversing or turning.
I am pretty sure, if enough people pushed this they would have a case against them on the grounds of it not being fit for purpose. In my opinion they appear to be cheap cheap shafts, and aren't up to the job.

Personally I think the uprated shafts they offer for £170 per pair are alright for the money. I'm running 300hp on mine and 400Nm+ of torque. I gave my set a good beating for around 2 months and whilst they were clunky, they didn't break.
Considering the price, they did a lot better than I expected. If you're going to drive very hard, you'll break OEM shafts so might as well buy cheap then it's not a big deal when you break them

So let's get this straight. You lied about nearly everything, then when they have an early death you feel resentment? Sure, they might not be up to much. But you're hardly in a good place to leave anything other than a biased review.

Chris you dont say how much your car is uprated by? you need to take all these factors in when clearly indicating the shafts are poor! you need to clarify if your car is standard and not uprated and better still what power you are running. Also being a Engineer it is clearly a factor that if your bushes or other suspension components are worn this can equally shorten the life of driveshafts even the clutch and mounts can play a big factor in shortening the life of a driveshaft! To sum up I have fitted J&R Shafts many times and as yet no issues have occurred so please can you post what power you are running,if your car has been lowered, and if all the other suspension components are in top notch condition and are you running with uprated clutch and mounts
    Thanks

I bought these updated ones about a year ago over the phone and one broke after about 2 weeks and they sent me out another one the next day and it's never gone again, maybe they don't actually uprate all of them and try rip some people off by sending them the shit ones, seem to be holding up fine atm checked them last week and they have no play at all, going on track next week so I'll see if they last after that (lowered and mapped)

I didnt get anywhere on the phone with them. They told me my car was lowered, that it wasnt for anything but standard power cars, and when i denied all that, they said no warranty on uprated parts. I looked on their website for this statement in their returns policy - but I couldnt even find the returns policy itself!

Just bought two off eBay £33 for passenger £27 for driver side free delivery says 3 yr warranty on the box they are brand new, our Ford Focus mrk2 has done 180,000 miles on the original one I’m not expecting the whole car to go another 40,000 before we scrap it hopefully these along with the new gearbox oil will last until it makes it to 220,000

I should have watched that 2 weeks earlier, .. not impressed with these guys either. Sent entirely wrong part, exchanged it and the new one looks different but does fit at least, quality is rather questionable, outer joint feels a bit odd when moving around. Packaging was one of the worst i've seen so far.
The other side (short one) looks wrong, too but they telling me that's the only one they sell for this car and it fits all (Auto and manual), which is a joke. Yes, it does (sort of) fit, but dimension are different, it sits further out from the gearbox which puts extra stress on the bearing, also had to machine a bushing as the diameter after the spline is too small, therefore lacking support in the transmission which will most likely cause excessive vibration. These guys are a just a waste of time and money as i''ve done every side twice because it's my daily driver. As usual, you get what you pay for. As long as they last until i properly refurbished my original ones, i think i have to live with it. Perhaps i'd rather be a bit careful on the throttle until then. Mine is a Volvo V50, uses the same shafts as the Focus and C30.
    Video will come soon.

@@veoverse4286 Well, i ended up using only the R/H one from them, the L/H one turned out to be a few mm too long, so i used a different supplier (which was not exactly the correct one either) .
I you look at my Volvo playlist, there is the full story. Only got around 1200 miles on them right now , still doing OK, but i can feel that the joint is still a bit stiff when cornering.
