I went on my own too! Definitely would do it again, but I can’t lie festivals are better with friends. I did rely a lot on drinking to have fun on my own I can’t lie, but it was nice to be out of my comfort zone. I’m proud of you for doing it solo
Omg I can’t believe there were other people there alone, shame I didn’t find anyone except my scary friend! Well done to you too! They’re so much better with friends but yeh it’s nice to say I tried haha
I've done festivals solo a good few times now but always as a volunteer. I find volunteering is the way to go if you are going on your own. When you do your first shift, you will get chatting to your colleagues, just in the same way you would with any other job. Then once you've finished your shift, people tend to go off together and explore the festival. Plus I've also found that there's a big WhatsApp group that any volunteer can join and then you are in a group chat. People are used to volunteers coming on their own, so at one fest i just posted a message in the chat just saying i was on my own and then within minutes i was hanging out with a great group of people. I find when people go to festivals as punters, they tend to buy the tickets with their mates and just stick with that group the whole time. If they know each other from the outside world they might not be as keen to have a random person join their group. But with volunteering, that sort of thing is much more normal. But if you are doing it solo as a punter, it's probably best to join the boomtown solo Facebook group. Because 100% there will be other solo people there who are super keen to make new friends, it's just a matter of tracking them down. And Facebook is probably the only way, especially for a big festival like boomtown. So don't rule out going solo again, but yeah try volunteering or the solo groups. I did festivals solo and it led to me making a whole bunch of friends who have become proper friends who i hang out with regularly outside of festivals and have known for years now. Couldn't recommend it enough. But well done for giving this a go. Awesome video, i really enjoyed watching it 😊
I’ve been to festivals on my own and I absolutely love it! It’s great to go with friends, but even when I do, I’ll always go on a solo side quest and I typically have more fun than with my group
Respect- Boomtown is a pretty overwhelming festival, too. If going solo, I can recommend "Whir-ly-fayer" festival which is the boutique festival run by the same people who have run Whirlygig since the 1980's. It's a very small and very friendly festival- everything is a minute walk away!
I did chapter 8 alone (the year of the car park fire) after missing a few. Had a great time. Yes there were times where you wished your mates were there, but generally, I was having it. I've done chapter 1 (2009), 2, 3 and then missed a load, so chapter 8 was immense for me as it's massive now! Good video. Don't rule out a smaller festival on your own 👍
So great to see hear that you managed it on your own! I really don’t know if I can undergo it again 😂 but I’ve heard there’s a solo group that does boomtown, so maybe that’s how I’ll do it… a regretful part 2 might be on the way! 🥳
I went to festivals on my own a couple times. Much the same experience tbh. They are a thing to go to with friends unless you are wizard level. Or crew.
Travelling on your own is seemingly way different, not sure why... I recently filmed a video about going travelling on my own, it’s to be edited! How did Amsterdam go?! I loved it ❤️
It’s hard to go to festivals in the UK alone coz everyone is is groups and no one wants to make new friends. I would rather go by myself to festivals in Europe where many solo travellers attend festivals and everyone is welcoming friendly and ready to meet new people.
thats exactly what i always thought it would be like... at least you made some single serving friends. i always feel a bit dejected when i lose people, can't imagine 4 days on me tod, great content!!! :)
I can’t believe I was so naive and thought it would be any different 😂 but I’ve heard of some people who go alone and have a great time! Thanks so much ❤️
I really want to go to Boomtown. Im a 35 yr old lover of dnb. I’d love a friend to go with. Let’s link up if you are up for future years (I can’t do this one sadly) ps think you were super brave going solo and also telling the creepy guy to go away ❤
I'm 44, my missus is 42, we both love dnb, go to Boomtown every year. You (and anyone else reading this) is welcome to join us if that would help you experience the brilliance that is Boomtown ❤
I'm going on my own thos year freinds can't spend the money thos year buy its my 8th year in a row and I always end up wandering off anyway so I know what to expect I'm excited for it my costumes this year are a great talking point anyway ... se you there

Your group must be deep then lol.
That ain’t true at all, I made hella friends at boomtown
There is loads of solo friendly groups. But it’s good idea to check into the groups before or at least camp in the solo camp
I went to boom on my own ! Also don’t know if you knew but there is groups on fb for solo ravers .
Ahh nice! Did you enjoy it?! I did see that, but sadly after I got back. It’s making me consider whether I can do it again, but with the solo crew… 😂

@dawnbarlow I got lucky a few times but lately it's so hard to get them. I'm thinking of a few smaller ones this year
thats exactly what i always thought it would be like... at least you made some single serving friends. i always feel a bit dejected when i lose people, can't imagine 4 days on me tod, great content!!! :)
