(Think Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, for a good example: you could layer this song right over that scene.) I know that's awfully specific, but it's precisely what these sounds bring to my mind, and this tune would have fit PERFECTLY into the soundtrack of some medium-budget film of the time, some sci-fi thriller, detective drama, or horror flick playing on HBO when I was a kid.
