I think it was actually like 5 months, since 5 months was roughly the time mark when Bell and Ryuu were rescued from the deep floors and then some more time passed during the festival arc. But ah, what the hell, its danmachi, whether it's 4 or 5 months, either way Bell's accelerated growth can make the average adventurers with decades on their belts weep in envy
Freya is the one that disapeared. From The moment horn contract with her was made. Freya became syr. That is what freya truly desires. Her life as Syr is pherhaps she as her best no burden of godhood just a pure young girl.
It's crazy that the entire time Freya's crazy feelings were actually a prelude. It's so wild that now that bell has finally denied someone their love of him, he's gonna have to start walking around and coming to terms that he's either gotta man up or break about 15 different hearts. I can only imagine the mental fatigue he'd have to go through if one alone got him *that* messed up.
Syr being Freya and how the reveal recontextualizes SO MUCH from as far back as season one is one of my favorite flexes in writing. Also, while Freya brainwashing the city and gaslighting Bell is super messed up, I still find her fairly sympathetic. She's the goddess of love, but her divine charm makes it next to impossible for her to know when someone genuinely loves her for her or just her looks. Stew in that for a few thousand years and it begins to make sense why she went nuts.

@@AniNewsyea a lot in danmachi can be spoiled or hinted at by simply knowing mythology lol. Still one if my favorite series out there though. Looking up Cassandra and Apollo are other major spoilers for example
For those who know norse myth, Syr is a mortal alias Freya went by when she walked amongst mortals. Danmachi here does its' own take on it where Freya one day meets Syr who has a very selfish desire to become her. Freya granted Syr that wish in exchange for her name and becoming Horn. While Freya can't feel the feelings Horn does, Horn on the other hand feels everything Freya feels and their harmony was disrupted the moment Bell came to Freya's life which also lead her to set into motions certain events throughout the first season to make Bell stronger. Horn who desired goddess hood to get away from her mortal life was angered now at Freya's feelings of wishing for what she had discarded. It took 6 months which is 4 seasons of time but Horn eventually makes her move to by her point of view save her goddess. During the date Freya had with Bell as Syr she fully understood what her goddess was struggling with and made her move the next day to get rid of Bell except it got derailed by her fellow Familia who saw through her scheme to act against Freya's wishes. Even when she was inches of succeeding it turns out Bell saw through the guise already while seeing first hand why Freya fell for Bell to begin with and thus hated him. Fortunately for Horn, despite being caught and will be punished for her betrayal she realized Bell does not share the same feelings Freya/Syr does meaning her goddess will be freed by Bell's hand which does happen as Bell rejected Syr's confession and by breaking Syr's heart, Freya finally dropped the act and went for Bell directly. The series made no attempts to hide the fact Syr was Freya the entire time and the anime made sure to make those hints obvious especially during the conflict with Ishtar Familia.
Not gonna spoil stuff from the LN but I think is pretty easy to determine what will Bell do to Freya in the end. Bell is literally the idea Hero, everyone he comes across (mostly the females) he saves them. It is this running theme throughout Danmachi that has remained true.
@nva_69 Ok since you ask, spoiler warning from here. Simply by the end of this whole incident, Bell along with a few others will free Freya from her current predicament. You can call it a happy ending as she will stop being a Goddess role officially and get to be Syr the cheeky waitress

You helped me understand what have happened very much. Honestly watching the episodes i was just in disbelief as of the change of story compared to previous seasons but you made the actions seem reasonable.
I want Freya to lose her divinity powers and sent to Hell and all her Familia members to be unalived. At least those in the know/helping her do this shit. She has gone too far. She is worse than Apollo and any other antagonist we've had so far. She should be punished in the most harshest way possible. Not "sent back to heaven" But of course that's not gonna happen so long as we keep having double standards and dumb simps.
Hey, @AniNews please continue Arifrueta cut content, season 3 is airing right now. They are also covering my favorite part of LNs this season. my fav part just aired btw.
This was for me, like the female titan from AoT, quite obvious but I didn't expect the relation with Horn. The talk Syr had with Freya for me was like a self talk and a bet, and somehow it is but special.
I kinda figured Syr and Freya had something to do with each other, but it was waaaaay more complicated than I expected. Realizing that Syr sort of never existed made this twist bittersweet. This episode was so good.
I mean she technically still does, just not as the nice "Syr" we've seen in the series. The real "Syr" is Horn and Freya uses Horn's true identity as a disguise, with side effects on Horn/Syr.
The author did actually write a what if about freya winning over Bell. Bell falling in love with Freya made them very happy, and they had a close relationship for about 6 months. But soon after Bell got comfortable, with the loving goddess and a strong succesful familia, he didn't face any hardship so he lost his edge, and his Realis Freeze deactivated fufilling it's purpous. Frey soon lost intrest cause without the Realis freeze to keep his soul clear and bright, it soon became the same as others of her familia due to her Charm Aura. So he became a regular member of the Famila and no longer Freya's favoirite. The Series ends with Ourario being destroyed to due an inccident that required a high lvl Bell to solve in the original story. And without Realise Freeze, he was too weak and so the What If ended there, not with a bang but a fizzle that everyone saw coming
I appreciate your commitment in spoiling the heck out of that what if, I doubt I was ever going to read it. Since im very unfamiliar with the Danmachi lore, I definitely need to watch it again. It seems like Belle’s fleeing motivation to seek challenges and his Realis Freeze deactivating are interesting hypotheticals that result in a more sensible ending with a true moral. Somehow Belle being unwavering in his virtuousness makes me go meh: these characters are uninspiring because there don’t face real consequences.
@@TheDestineyAngel I beg to differ, but I suppose it's all about what we decide to take from stories, just like how someone can decide if something is a compliment or an insult. I'd say that watching characters that are so headstrong makes you wonder, what If I attempted to be like that? what kind of version of me would that be? I think ppl having a strong will to achieve a goal are pretty good pick for an inspiring story.
@@MrSteff000 Over NINEEEEE THOOOOOOUSAND anime have the trope “if your resolve is strong enough, you can become the ‘Úbermensch’.” In the case of Damachi, Belle is a trite portrayal of an ‘Übermensch’ since he holds his view of what’s right over other people. The first 5 episodes of season 5 conclude with Belle roughly saying, “I had no idea it would tear me apart inside to reject someone’s love.” The only excuse Belle has to show is that Selland told Belle he had no choice about the date and making ‘Syr’ extremely happy. The reason why I focus on this part is because Belle undeniably has caused Syr pain by breaking her heart at least twice and a few others were harmed in the process. Not to mention that throughout the episode ‘Syr’ alternates between being depressed from unrequited love and joy from doing things an honorable Goddess isn’t allowed to. In truth, a lot of the good writing for the episode was given to the Freya Familia. When Horn explains her actions is a form of twisted love for her Goddess and self preservation because her link to Syr’s emotions drives her crazy; the other guy calls her a zealot!! Selland, Cringe kid, and the black hair cat boy had solid moments. In this season, the author isn’t very kind to Belle since Selland calls him “harebrain”, the dude with red hair gives a very important lecture about respecting the feelings of a woman shortly after ‘Syr’ tells him that he doesn’t understand much of anything because he’s a naive kid, Horn calls him a hypocrite because his management of the situation is nothing short of a disaster resulting in many people getting hurt due to his obscure behavior. I almost felt bad when black hair car dude hurt his sister, but then I realized that he was standing on business by prioritizing his purpose in life over his little sister who isn’t clever and didn’t listen to his words to stay out of it. That’s admirable, as opposed to Belle who was aware of a phony Syr and abandoned his friends. I did find the story of the Spirit and the Knight rather interesting. In that story the knight broke a vow with the spirit and chose to love a saint. That parable had a deep meaning that somehow doesn’t register with Belle because he is an unchangeable character. He lives by a childish code of ethics of what it means to be a hero. After watching Damachi season 5, I feel like the author sacrificed Belle so that the other characters could shine and that is sort of sad considering that the conflict is unrequited love- that should be handled much better than this otherwise you end up alienating mature audiences.

This has been obvious since season 1. Syr’s second scene in the series is appearing right after Freya basically says she has her eye on him And She just happens to give Bell the magic tome that we saw Freya pull off the shelf to draw out Bell’s full potential
My son guessed it just by how they had the same hair in the first episode. I was baffled 😂 yet he still doesn’t know they are the same. Children see things even we can’t a lot more than I thought after that.
It amazes me that every time when Bell somehow gets involved with other god,s(Apollo,Ishtar and Artemis) it always leads to their downfall or the end their familias. When you really look at it from in outsiders view Horn was really trying to prevent her goddess and her familia from becoming potential victims due to Bell. Had her methods not been so overly zealous and had she try to properly explained the situation by using the mentioned gods to her advantage things would have played out in her favor.
So what's the count for Bell now? 2 goddesses, a fox girl, a monster girl, an elf girl, the numerous girls during the training montage for the date with Syr and a goddess imposter. All that rizz, all those options, 2 of which are literally divine in nature. But nope, give it to the airheaded blonde. If I was anyone from Freya's familia, I wouldn't be amused by this living rizz generator either.
Wiene loves him more like a sibling than romantically as far as I understand it... Marie on the other hand does look like she's into him lol so if you meant her then I agree
At this point in the story, 2 goddesses, Freya and, Hestia. 2 monster girls, Marie and Rei. 2 elves, Ryu and Laurier. 1 half elf, Eina 1 prum, Lili. 1 Renard, Haruhime. 1 "demigod," Horn. 1 human, Ais. And unkown number of girls Hedin had Bell rizz up. Yeah, that's like at least 11.
Thank you! The bet completely confused me. I thought that it was weird that Freya would ask Horn for permission and the other way around made no sense to me...
As an LN reader, I already knew this, but man, did you do a good job at framing Horn's experience. I don't even think the LN did as good of a job as you did, which is saying something, since I feel that Fujino Omori is stupidly good as a writer, to the point that the anime can't match it strictly based on media, rather than time constraints. Great vid!
I always had a feeling Freya was Syr, but I can't make it make sense. Like, how and why would a GODDESS be working there? I completely forgot about the potential of shapeshifting!
Really fascinate me how much is about Freya that she easily become my favorite character in this series and immediately take in mind all her scenes along as Syr, she really went through so much wanting to find someone she can fall in love, and tragically Bell is the only one but what makes it possible is the skill that works as long he wants to be with Aiz
Danmachi is like Iruma at Demon School - it doesn't have the presence of the big Shouen Jump series on the anime stage, but the novels sell consistently (Manga in Iruma equivalent), and the anime always does well. The fanbase is very well established and it's very well loved across the medium.
@@sasakihayse4535 How, bro do you even watch the show? There are multiple stakes and even some dark scenes too. Maybe your brain is just overstimulated and you didnt recognize..
I change. Hestia would have been able to see though both Horn and Freya in disguise. Not jut Horn. It's part of her counter abilities to Freya and the reason what Freya as Syr would never show herself to Hestia.
Thanks for this. I never understood the Horn connection as it seemed she came from no where. A question though, did the author plan the Syr/Freya connection from the beginning? If so, it really changes my perspective on Bell's interaction with Syr from earlier seasons.
Same. I always knew there was something off with Syr, and as soon as Horn delivered her letter I was like "yup so she is Freya". But then Oomori pulled _this_ masterpiece out of his ass and I was just astounded lol. The whole thing is just pure brilliance, it even ties up perfectly with Freya as a character. It's my favourite part of the Danmachi universe, followed by the concept of the Xenos not so far behind.
Season 2 was the worst produced of the seasons, too much cut content and other issues. However, two important characters are introduced in the Ishtar portion of the story and the last short arc has some important lore drops, although it really makes me hate Hestia. I can suffer through watching it now, but I also read the light novels. Season 3, while cutting a lot, is at least consistent and tells a pretty good story with some good battles and great character moments. Season 4 is fantastic except for a couple of small things. I would recommend trying to at least watch Season 2, maybe at 2x speed except for parts you want to slow down on.
@madcat1738 I re-watch season 2 again, but that season was a blur. It's not until season 3 were I remembered that that's where I dropped the anime halfway, but it good that I re-watch tho also can u explain the lore at the end I feel I get it but I just wanna check if it's correct or not

WOWOWO?
I want Freya to lose her divinity powers and sent to Hell and all her Familia members to be unalived. At least those in the know/helping her do this shit. She has gone too far. She is worse than Apollo and any other antagonist we've had so far. She should be punished in the most harshest way possible. Not "sent back to heaven"
But of course that's not gonna happen so long as we keep having double standards and dumb simps.
Love your danmachi content!
I ❤ you Aninews. Am glad you are back to content reaction. Love from Uganda btw
Hey, @AniNews please continue Arifrueta cut content, season 3 is airing right now. They are also covering my favorite part of LNs this season. my fav part just aired btw.
Yo you’re the best anime explainer!!!!
Love your videos will you one day make a video just about the Level 7 Ottar
Great video, You still need to finish the videos on that time i was a slime. Cant w8 for those!
Danmachi is so peak I literally cannot stand waiting each week for the new episode 😭😭Another great video
It's wild to ro me that danmachi became the anime i look forward to watch the most every week ....and in such a stacked season no less
After watching Damachi season 5, I feel like the author sacrificed Belle so that the other characters could shine and that is sort of sad considering that the conflict is unrequited love- that should be handled much better than this otherwise you end up alienating mature audiences.
i had expectations long ago, i didnt read the novel but we had so many clues that i figured it out before
you might actually get me to finally watch danmachi...also, is there a chance you could bring isekai armory mousepad back? I could not afford it back in the day, but now id love to buy one, as i enjoyed almost every anime on it...heres hoping from a fan few years in running(you got me to read overlord LN)
Its still available! You should be able to grab it in the shop directly under this video. Or right here: thesuccubae.creator-spring.com/listing/get-the-armory?product=1959&variation=105516
Danmachi becoming more Peak season after season we are eating good ma brothers/sisters
amazing plot twist, glad this was also animated!
This season has been fucking crazy and i am all for seeing how this shit comes to an head.
This has been obvious since season 1.
Syr’s second scene in the series is appearing right after Freya basically says she has her eye on him
And
She just happens to give Bell the magic tome that we saw Freya pull off the shelf to draw out Bell’s full potential
Thanks For this! Waiting for the new re zero review ans are you HYPED for sacred kingdom sam?!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Finally i was so confused for 2 weeks bro 😂
Thank you for clearing that up confused with the anime
My son guessed it just by how they had the same hair in the first episode. I was baffled 😂 yet he still doesn’t know they are the same. Children see things even we can’t a lot more than I thought after that.
Now I gotta watch all their interaction.
Alright, I've just about had it. I'm buying that damn hoodie.
i actually thought there were 3 of them in total. very nice clarification.
We back aniNews, best cutscenes and breakdowns.
At this point in the story,
2 goddesses, Freya and, Hestia.
@@miteigi8334 horn doesn't love him, it's freya's feelings that she feels, it's explained in the video...
@@MrSteff000 She loves him. I read the LN and I know. She's literally weighing both her feelings to him and to Freya in V17.
Thank you! The bet completely confused me. I thought that it was weird that Freya would ask Horn for permission and the other way around made no sense to me...
Thank you so much
As an LN reader, I already knew this, but man, did you do a good job at framing Horn's experience. I don't even think the LN did as good of a job as you did, which is saying something, since I feel that Fujino Omori is stupidly good as a writer, to the point that the anime can't match it strictly based on media, rather than time constraints. Great vid!
Thank you!! I really appreciate that 😁
I've had this theory of syr and Freya being the same person for so long and I'm kinda glad, kinda sad to see i was right.
I always had a feeling Freya was Syr, but I can't make it make sense. Like, how and why would a GODDESS be working there? I completely forgot about the potential of shapeshifting!
This Bell guy seems pure, but his heart could never be as pure as my boy Rito.
This episode makes me wanna read the source material, the cliff hanger is killing me!
I've heard talks that anime almost caught up to ln
Best video. Ty
just watched the newest episode (5) and HOLY SHEET
This truly did clarify things for me
Thanks man
I didn't understood that there was only 2 at all. By the Anime I thought Syr was one that Freya possessed and was living her life.
WHY IS THIS ANIME SO UNDERRATED BRO
Danmachi is like Iruma at Demon School - it doesn't have the presence of the big Shouen Jump series on the anime stage, but the novels sell consistently (Manga in Iruma equivalent), and the anime always does well. The fanbase is very well established and it's very well loved across the medium.
@@Darcion I seriously hope this show doesnt die because it deserve good support and animations
@@Darcion except Idk who loved last season 😆
they didn't tackle the "what if monsters have feelings" topic very well imho
It doesn't have stakes. No major dramma and tradegy like in re:zero = shitty writing and typical shonen progression
@@sasakihayse4535 How, bro do you even watch the show? There are multiple stakes and even some dark scenes too. Maybe your brain is just overstimulated and you didnt recognize..
Damn. I was so lost without this video
Things get interesting from here. And when this arc ultimately ends, fans may be split on just how good it was.
What's the end date for the hoodie and shirt ?
I change. Hestia would have been able to see though both Horn and Freya in disguise. Not jut Horn. It's part of her counter abilities to Freya and the reason what Freya as Syr would never show herself to Hestia.
Hestia is a virgin goddess. She can see things no god can. Which is why she is special
bro had me reading the LN cs i was not ready to leave it on a cliffhanger
this video helped me understand Horn better
The twist you think you'll see coming but then it does a 180 that you don't.
god ive been waiting for this video haha like every day since this episode was relesed
I always knew Syr was Freya. That was the biggest plot twist ever in Danmachi
Is there a new DanMachi season? :D
I think what sucks is that I knew this twist was coming from commenters on both TH-cam and the fandom page when I was looking for information.
Hmm, here i thought that there were 3 individuals that shared Freyas powers.
Good info
Great video
When i saw it, it blew my fkin mind. I had so many questions on that transformation part.
Thanks for this. I never understood the Horn connection as it seemed she came from no where. A question though, did the author plan the Syr/Freya connection from the beginning? If so, it really changes my perspective on Bell's interaction with Syr from earlier seasons.
There are too many hints for it not to have been planned.
So there new episodes for this show? Where? They aren’t on Crunchyroll
Great thumbnail! Freya is so hot 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
I BEEN WAITING 4 DIS
It was kinda obvious syr is the norse nickname of freyja which is who's she based off of
Bell in episode 6 is like: "The Gods of Olympus have abandoned me, now there is no hope"
This season is amazing so far
Where do you guys watch this because i cant find it on crunchyroll
No one would expect a twist from an anime named "How to pick up girls in a dungeon"
Thanks For this! Your videos always make My day! Danmachi is awesome! Hearth please ❤❤❤❤❤
Where do yall watch this at. Crunchyroll don’t have anything besides Seasons 2 and 3.
illegal sites
Ngl this episode kinda confusing at first but after watch it 2 time it's easier to understand what's happening.
Never gonna give you up~
Literally
re zero is cool! But I'm also hyped for Danmachi just the same.
Having read the novels, my theory was that she was Freya (we see more of Syr in them) , but the actual reveal still surprised me
As someone who dropped this anime half way through season 2 is it worth rewatching 2 season or can it skip because I heard mix feelings about season 2
It's not until season 3 were I remembered that that's where I dropped the anime halfway, but it good that I re-watch tho also can u explain the lore at the end I feel I get it but I just wanna check if it's correct or not
What Arifureta season 3 ?
Where do you guys be watching the new season and how many episodes are out rn?
