Apparently the age of a tyre is on the side wall. Tyres on vehicles being used a lot are being flexed more than those kept on low mileage vehicles hardly used so apparently the rubber compound doesn't flex so much with them with time, so it's not just what they look like, how old they are but also how they've been used, apparently under inflated tyres can overheat and disintegrate on long journeys.
Well , that blow out , was a god send . !! It happened for a reson , the new , one looks in darn good condition , so you would be a fool, to pass it up , !!! So we'll done , I hope you will have there battery s in it , ?? Didn't see if it had solar ?? , but you can get that later for summer !! & your cctv .. so jolly good deal .. many congrats ...

Yeah lot of inconvenience when a tyre blows, new tyres give more insulation between you and the road steering is usually a lot easier and more responsive too and less chance of punctures
We went to Oaktree for our Lithium upgrade based solely on your upgrade video. Rob and the guys did not disappoint, they were fabulous. Like you, I would highly recommend them
Glad you managed to get here safe and sound even if it was on the back of a tow truck. Mototrhomes aren't stupid you know, it must have known you were on the way to look at a potential new one. Sounds like your current van is going to a good home so it has nothing to worry about.

Glad you're OK! Have heard you say before you only buy budget tyres if I'm correct. I think that may have contributed, remember tyres are the only part of a vehicle in contact with the road so I never scrimp on costs here. Perhaps you should consider buying decent branded tyres in future

Fellow lorry driver. So I have the license for more the 3.5T. I bought mine from oaktree, lived in it for 18 months. Saved enough for a house and that. Wanted a 4 berth low profile merc, automatic with a garage, and it was just sat there with less than 15000 miles on it. It's a rapido 779M. Paid £26000 for it on a 53 plate in feb 2020. I really want a Kon-Tiki with the double axel. I did love the van life but it was pretty lonely and we already lead a solitary life. I hope your new purchase opens up some new revenues for you pal.

Hi Darren glad you are ok, it looks a lovely van . We had a 2004 burstner it was built like a tank. French bed design didn't suit so sold it 3 years ago, still InTouch with the new owners, they love it . We fulltime like yourself and you can't beat space in the van .

You came through Northampton M1 and luckily you had your blow out further up the motorway where there is a hard shoulder. The Northampton stretch is a (not so) smart motorway so you would have been in a ‘live’ lane. Smart motorways are the worst thing to happen and just widening the road on the cheap. Glad you were ok and good luck in your new motorhome.

Thank God you weren't on one of those focking parts of the motorway without a hard shoulder may have been an entirely different outcome. Nicely handled to the hard shoulder mate.
Tyres havea date on them usually, manufacture date. Then depending on manufacturer between 6 and 10 yrs max life span. In sunnier climates shorter. Dubai, for example, any tyre older than 5yrs would fail an MOT equivalent for example.
Soon as I heard the noise I recognised it - the same thing happened to me just before Christmas - my vw campervan had a rear blow out on the M4. I was terrified. You are right - you can’t hear a thing next to the carriageway ( now have miKe and earpiece in my camper van), walked to the nearest bridge which had safely rails round it ( now have dayglo bibs in van) , falling over the brambles en route. Was absolutely frozen waiting for a pick up ( no priority any more for lone women) - now have foil emergency shelter in van lol. The police called by and said blow outs were the most common emergency they saw, as things were always falling off lorries. A friend of mine told me she had just changed lanes as her blow out happened and they said most likely there was a bit of debris caught in the cats eyes, and that had cut them. I had just changed lanes too so suspect it was the same as I had not only 4 brand new Pirelli tyres on, but 4 brand new alloy wheels on too - of the strongest I could find ( big mistake, will revert to steels next as I gather they are stronger). Biggest problem was that having retrofit alloy wheels on, I needed the right spline bolt /key to get them off. I’d never heard of that and didn’t have one ( have 2 now) so had problems getting the damaged tyres off. However really enjoyed the rest of your journey. So so pleased for you, and looking forward to hearing more from you about your adventures.
I had the same wheel blow out on a MH. You were very lucky it did a lot more damage to the one I was driving... Loving the new MH. You will get lost in that.... the garage is immense, plenty of room for your bike and fishing gear... can't wait to see how you get on fitting all your gear into it and sorting it all out... FANTASTIC price, really glad that oaktree could accommodate you and you reached an agreement. Brilliant, glad it worked out for you. 👍🛺
No way! Ahhh it scared the bell out of me! The space in the delfin is incredible along with the 5 tonne weight…just think of all the gadget and toys haha, Oaktree are awesome!
@@TheUrbanMotorhome you will absolutely love it. We have the dethleffs globetrotter xli. Just filmed a vlog for sorting out the garage. It had become a bit of a mess, got a rack unit. (Amazons finest) and cut it to size. Now everything is tidy and room for the bike, trike, washing machine and freezer. Still got it to edit so will not be up for a couple of weeks... you enjoy your new home.

Oooh, nice van that Delphin, I had the single rear axle version, always wanted the tag version for the extra space. The Renault engine (if it`s the 3.0 ltr) is a flyer, really grunty even though mine was only a 140. Got a new Burstner now on a Ducato.

Great your in one piece, and damage not too serious. Brilliant news on your new van conclusion and great to see it in such good condition. Gas low might need date checks on cylinders and hoses, but still plenty of LPG around despite what some say (your video some months ago still the one with best advice). Be interested to see what you transfer and what you do for the inevitable upgrades in the weeks to come. Excellent service from Everyone at Oaktree again, if all dealers were committed to customer service like them there would be very few problems. Good luck going forwards.

Hi Darren glad you are ok, it looks a lovely van . We had a 2004 burstner it was built like a tank. French bed design didn't suit so sold it 3 years ago, still InTouch with the new owners, they love it .
We fulltime like yourself and you can't beat space in the van .

You came through Northampton M1 and luckily you had your blow out further up the motorway where there is a hard shoulder. The Northampton stretch is a (not so) smart motorway so you would have been in a ‘live’ lane. Smart motorways are the worst thing to happen and just widening the road on the cheap. Glad you were ok and good luck in your new motorhome.

Thank God you weren't on one of those focking parts of the motorway without a hard shoulder may have been an entirely different outcome. Nicely handled to the hard shoulder mate.
Tyres havea date on them usually, manufacture date. Then depending on manufacturer between 6 and 10 yrs max life span. In sunnier climates shorter. Dubai, for example, any tyre older than 5yrs would fail an MOT equivalent for example.
I have the aldi heating system with a gasit kit, it is brilliant. Good luck! I remember that feeling when upgrading my old motorhome. enjoy!
Soon as I heard the noise I recognised it - the same thing happened to me just before Christmas - my vw campervan had a rear blow out on the M4. I was terrified. You are right - you can’t hear a thing next to the carriageway ( now have miKe and earpiece in my camper van), walked to the nearest bridge which had safely rails round it ( now have dayglo bibs in van) , falling over the brambles en route. Was absolutely frozen waiting for a pick up ( no priority any more for lone women) - now have foil emergency shelter in van lol. The police called by and said blow outs were the most common emergency they saw, as things were always falling off lorries. A friend of mine told me she had just changed lanes as her blow out happened and they said most likely there was a bit of debris caught in the cats eyes, and that had cut them. I had just changed lanes too so suspect it was the same as I had not only 4 brand new Pirelli tyres on, but 4 brand new alloy wheels on too - of the strongest I could find ( big mistake, will revert to steels next as I gather they are stronger). Biggest problem was that having retrofit alloy wheels on, I needed the right spline bolt /key to get them off. I’d never heard of that and didn’t have one ( have 2 now) so had problems getting the damaged tyres off. However really enjoyed the rest of your journey. So so pleased for you, and looking forward to hearing more from you about your adventures.

I had the same wheel blow out on a MH. You were very lucky it did a lot more damage to the one I was driving... Loving the new MH. You will get lost in that.... the garage is immense, plenty of room for your bike and fishing gear... can't wait to see how you get on fitting all your gear into it and sorting it all out... FANTASTIC price, really glad that oaktree could accommodate you and you reached an agreement. Brilliant, glad it worked out for you. 👍🛺
No way! Ahhh it scared the bell out of me! The space in the delfin is incredible along with the 5 tonne weight…just think of all the gadget and toys haha, Oaktree are awesome!
@@TheUrbanMotorhome you will absolutely love it. We have the dethleffs globetrotter xli. Just filmed a vlog for sorting out the garage. It had become a bit of a mess, got a rack unit. (Amazons finest) and cut it to size. Now everything is tidy and room for the bike, trike, washing machine and freezer. Still got it to edit so will not be up for a couple of weeks... you enjoy your new home.

Oooh, nice van that Delphin, I had the single rear axle version, always wanted the tag version for the extra space. The Renault engine (if it`s the 3.0 ltr) is a flyer, really grunty even though mine was only a 140. Got a new Burstner now on a Ducato.

Great your in one piece, and damage not too serious. Brilliant news on your new van conclusion and great to see it in such good condition. Gas low might need date checks on cylinders and hoses, but still plenty of LPG around despite what some say (your video some months ago still the one with best advice). Be interested to see what you transfer and what you do for the inevitable upgrades in the weeks to come. Excellent service from Everyone at Oaktree again, if all dealers were committed to customer service like them there would be very few problems. Good luck going forwards.
