At this time Operation Bagration was completed and the whole Heeresgruppe Mitte (Army Group Central) destroyed by the Red Army. Since then the defeat on the Eastern Front was unavoidable.
Western allies were bearing down on the Rhine as well. Germany was doomed. NATO and Communism divided Europe through Germany for half a century. Now NATO only remains and is barreling down into Russia deep inside Eastern Europe. If Churchill and Roosevelt were alive today, they wouldn’t believe it.
In most of his speeches, for the majority of the time, he uses his normal voice. But in documentaries they like to put the loudest moments for propaganda reasons.

But they knew the nuclear bomb was coming, so they would never have made peace before they were able to force unconditional surrender like with Japan. On top of that we have to consider what the Russians were preparing in the East...
