Thank you very much for taking the time to make this. I’ve pored over mr vogels instrument for years and seeing a modern practical studio application with it was a true treat. Wish I could afford one but I’m working on getting my first house which is hard enough lol. Have a fine evening sir. - Caleb

Glad you enjoyed it! If you haven't tried it yet, check out QasarBeach IIz. It's pretty much "the Fairlight experience" with some nice additions. The UI in QB is very close to the original and most if not all of the actuall IIx commands works. Arturia CMI V is also good especially for higher resolution harmonic synthesis and resysthesis. However, the "Spectral Synth" as they call it is not like anything I've seen on a realy Fairlight. :)

Trevor Horn signed a band from Germany called Propaganda and they did a tune called 'The Last Word' and that tune for me brings out the power and beauty of the Fairlight it's a simple track but just sublime in it's execution! please give it a listen. and thank you for this video I do wish i could get more Fairlight videos on TH-cam sadly there isn't enough of them!

Thanks for watching! I'm a big fan of Trevor Horne's work with ZTT. I agree on the lack of CMI videos... I'll be making more now that I've gotten some thing sorted out with shooting and editing in my little studio. :)

I was never quite familiar with the CAPS. I used the RS most of the times and also that reminded me more of that of the Fairlight II. The visualization of your rev. slightly differs from my past machines.

I had been working strictly in RS. But after watching Cris Blyth’s video, I was super intrigued and just decided to dive in. I’m glad I did because CAPS is much more powerful and flexible.

This is how I made my money back in the day... musicians are lazy, people would rather buy samples they create their examples - Fairlight and Synclavier were new... but it wasn't long thereafter the game change when EMU hit town

Very true, which is why Fairlight and Synclavier both moved more into movie post production and high-end "tapeless" studio recording (aka high speed hard disk recording). That's why they cost between $80k - $200k back in the late 80s - early 90s.
