I have admired these distinctive looking tree's when I have been on holiday in Spain, Greece and Turkey and only recently found out what they are called and I'm surprised that a tree originating from a small island in the Pacific is found across much of the world. Sadly for me in the UK it's too cold for them here. Thanks for the video.
AWESOME video! It takes a lot to hold my attention lol and most of these videos on TH-cam are very annoying and boring but yours was perfect! it was very informative, I like how you talked about the pine dropping its needles & does kill the grass in your yard.. Thanks for being interesting
Hi, I believe that the Araucarias you filmed were actually Cook Pines, A. Columnaris, which grow in New Caledonia, about 500 miles north of Norfolk Island where the A. Heterophylla grows. I never knew they existed until I saw the two species growing next to each other and I wondered why some trees would have long branches while others were like narrow rockets. They are extremely similar so most people can´t tell them apart, however if you want an easy way to know then just ask yourself if you could climb it...if you can then it´s a Norfolk. This only works with bigger trees, obviously. Thanks for the video.

Wow nice Araucaria columnaris trees. Is it the hurricanes and storms which make these trees produce multiple trunks there? Because here in India it very seldom produces multiple trunks (unless top has been cut off manually)
I have a small Norfolk Island tree in a pot I’ve noticed that just about on all the tree the tips are lime green instead of dark green. What do you think is cautious this? Thanks
Could I grow a Norfolk Island Pine tree in Houston, Texas where the summers are around 95 degrees and winters at times we might get a freeze for a few hours at night?
They can handle a quick cold snap, however anything below 35 will likely end the experience. Good news is they are fantastic to grow in pots, however in the ground they are massive.

Norfolks are easily confused with Cook pines, but Cooks are narrower. The best way to know the difference is to try to climb it- you can climb a Norfolk but not a Cook.

These are not actually true Norfolk Island Pines, they are the closely related Cook Pine, years ago, seeds of the Norfolk Island Pine and Cook Pine were mixed up, true Norfolk Island Pines are pretty rare in nursery trade, you can even tell that these are Cook Pines because the foliage is much more full than a Norfolk Island Pine and that they have a slight lean that leans towards the equator that Norfolk Island Pines don't have

@@EatYourBackyard now i would like to ask if you grow spruces, Douglas firs, Alpine pines and Firs in South Florida's climate?
