The meaning of therianthrope/ Alterhuman is in this comment.
Therian falls under the category of 'Alterhumans' - people who have experiences or an identity which they perceive as being alternative to or outside common societal ideas of humanity.
Identifying as a therian is to be identifying _non-physically_ as an animal. There are many different kinds of therians, some have many theriotypes, some dont have one theriotype in general, some may never know their theriotype but they are all valid. You can't _choose_ to become a therian, yet even if you aren't an alterhuman feel free to wear gear and join the quadrobics and/or the furry community.
Being a therian isn't having a past life. You may or may not have had a past life as an animal but that dose not make you a therian/Alterhuman!
    *Shifts*
To have a shift means to either have a phantom limb, (feeling as if you have a tail, fins, ears, paws etc), to have a mental shift (which is quite hard to explain but i'll do my best) a shift in which one's mental state changes to reflect that of their kintype. NOT ALL ALTERHUMANS MAY GET SHIFTS! they can happen anytime, anywhere!
    -Symptoms of Therianthrope
A patient reports in a moment of clarity or looking back he sometimes feels as an animal or has felt like one.
A patient behaves in a manner that resembles animal behaviour, for example crying, grumbling or creeping.
Feeling limbs that aren't there. Closely relating to certain animals.
I may not have covered certain things, but I have been writing this for like 45 minutes so I hope this helps!
