My uncle has a Bubbleback ref. 5050 (smooth bezel and explorer style dial, also happens to be chronometer certified!). He said it belonged to his uncle, so I suppose it goes back at least two generations. He mentioned a desire to sell it soon, which immediately prompted me to suggest I buy it! As it seems to have been in our family since it was new, I couldn't imagine letting it go just for some quick cash. I love the history of the watch, and hope that it can make some more memorable stories on my wrist in the future :)
Very Nice watch. I noticed the dial doesn’t say “Swiss” at the 6 o’clock position. Is this a replacement dial, or did Rolex not include “Swiss” on the dial for this model ?
Becoming a fan for the bubble back I’ve collected 40mm 36mm 34mm vintage Rolexes all my life just never had a bubble back and they have started to appeal to me and a great video like this wants me to go get one soon ;)
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL IS THE SMOOTH BEZELED TWO TONE ROSE18k AND STAINLESS STEEL UNFINISHED FACE (BLACK) WORN BY A RAF SPITFIRE PILOT CLASP IS ROSE GOLD 18k. WHAT IS IT WORTH. THE STEAM TURNED BEZEL IS NEW THAN THE SMOOTH BEZEL.
Absolutely gorgeous Rolex mate, unfortunately for me every time I buy a watch under 38mm it looks like a kids watch on my wrist. My wrist is nearly 8 inches and it seems to limit what looks good on my wrist. The problem is the more refined my taste gets the more I like smaller vintage pieces.
You do truly excellent videos! Nice work!!!

For $3,000 a vintage watch isn't worth it for me. Just my opinion....
I think you're right man, at this point today I wouldn't either.
