I have learned more watching you two work on your farmhouse than watching HGTV for years and years!!! This home is fantastic!!! As for the faucet. . .the handles remind me of tractor seats so there you go! Farmhouse!!!

Love how the island has turned out - and the wood countertops, too! Hey, if you can't find someone to sew the curtains for under the sink, you can send me the material and I'll do it for you. I've been sewing for 60 years, since I was 10.

I like your choice of faucet. It may not be strictly‘farmhouse’ but it really suits the space. The old fashioned knobs make it fit in very well. As for the sprayer, I live without one now and, like you, I hate not having one. Yours is such a slim model you don’t even really notice it. Great choices! The island counter top looks amazing. What a great surface to work on and the finish will buff up beautifully. Once again, I love it!

I love the white oil wax look! I have oak (maybe red oak) antique floors I discovered in my kitchen under layers of linoleum, peel and stick, etc. I was hand scraping because there was a layer of baked on black adhesive and was getting a cool patina with some darks and lights. I have the same floor but it was refinished a warmer tone medium brown, and I definitely need a contrast and wanted grey muted tones in my kitchen. Walls are grey, cabinets are a sage gray green. I wasn’t able to physically finish the work and hired someone who said they would lightly sand and try to match the look but they over sanded and now I’ve got bare wood but it’s kind of dirty looking in areas - they were hand sanding because wanted it to look old and distressed... so.. I stopped them from covering in poly and need a solution. I expect poly would make the oak look more yellow. ? I could hand paint in some darks or some kind of white wash. Let me know if you have suggestions, please. Would this oil work on a floor? Should I do a dark stain first and physically distress first to regain what I had? then white or grey wash or oil on top? I will have to do it myself but it’s a small kitchen and I want to be happy with it after all this. I’m an artist so my painting skills are good- just tough on the knees. I do also have most of Debi’s DIY but haven’t actually used the products yet. (I’ve been gathering, watching, planning.. lol).

So glad I’ve seen this white oil wax. After dithering around about what I wanted to do when I install new interior trim, I saw this wax and had my aha moment. Side note: that camping cook set from a few vids back with the “copper” plates were not copper plated, they are what is called anodized aluminum. Google that for a definition. I think it has to do with applying electrical current to aluminum to change the color/property of the surface. 😁

  • @lollylolly8186

Wow what a difference layers of that white oil wax made on the island! It has soft natural wood look. Gorgeous. The sink faucet is fine Jami, it’s a little industrial but with all the kitchen stuff added I don’t think you’ll notice it and you can always pick something else up farther down the line.
I collect my sawdust in a cottage cheese clean container, different ones depending on the wood. It’s such an easy fix to add glue to the sawdust for gaps etc.
Late video Zeb, go to bed!
    Thanks Ray’s another beautiful video.👏👏❤️❤️❤️

Hi Jami and Zeb.....we are still right with you....sink installation underway.....I have a very old farmhouse sink ....porcelain over cast iron....goes up in the back.....side board to the left....I had it professionally reglazed and love it! when countertop installers cut ....they cut straight line from front to back and actual sink is wider in back then front....sink was right next to them but not installed🙈...been a month trying to get someone out here to fix! It ...has the whole island on halt right now😡 I am ready to get this done! We mixed metals with lighting and even though kitchen was gutted trying to make it look as if layered over time....my pot filler is matte black....my sink faucet very simple American Standard chrome mounted on the back of sink.....we have exposed brick and trying now to tie it all together....waiting on this and that...will be worth it in the end! Love the white oil on bare wood....gorgeous! I have two oak chairs I bought already stripped down....was going to whitewash them....maybe use white oil? I have it...hmm just want a hit of white in the details...what would you use? Thanks for sharing😊k

After viewing this video I rushed to the Ikea website to order the same kitchen faucet. I cannot locate it. If possible would you post the brand? Due to arthritis I have to have 2 handle faucets, they are difficult to locate in flat black. Thank you. (That particular style will work well for me. I will also add a flat black plate.)

I hear what Jami is saying about the faucet. It doesn't have the "soul" or life of an original farmhouse faucet...but it isn't terrible. We put in an Ikea kitchen last year, as much as I love the new kitchen...it is a bit new feeling for the cottage vibe I love...but it isn't terrible and certainly a ton better than the old, broken and worn out kitchen. lol Great job as usual you two. Cheers for now.

i love that wax. you know the knobs on the faucet reminds me of farmhouse, the knobs on the outside of my house are shaped just like that. to me real farmhouse has a lot of "make do" to items, new lingo is repurpose, reimagine, but it is make do. i can't say enough about how i love the look of that white wash wax. so glad you are almost done with that roof. have i missed that big announcement y'all talked about before your trip to Debi's new store opening?

My husband and I are teaming up to work on our house again. (it's been a fixer upper in progress for a few years now ;) ) Wanted to ask about the Milwaukee nailer Zeb is using in the video. Or was it just the white oil wax that brought out that white color? I am installing Birchwood butcher blocks in my kitchen and would like to achieve that same color.
