His peaceful stand among the ignorant, arrogant, and power hungry Derg officers was unfortunate for Ethiopia and a bitter blessing for Eritrea. After all, it was this very war that weakened Ethiopia and also bore and put TPLF on power. And here we are in a Civil war. This General's strategies and conflict resolution could have ripped off the legitimacy of different factions fighting against central government. Those strategies were timely then but too late now.

My father was General Aman Andom ADC at 3rd ሻለቃ። Aman was never a friend of Menegistu. My dad who was denied raise as Menegistu. The only two officers the raise in the entire Army because their political ideology was left leaning.
General Aman Andom loved by many & respected, but feared by foreigners.
My dad was chosen by Aman to go to Holetta Military academy because he was a sharp shooter & the General saw his talent as the Emepror saw goodness in General Aman.
My dad & Manegistu Graduated 19th Round, thanks to the Great Military mind General Andom. He will alwyas be missed.❤❤❤

It was told that Gen, AMAAN would suddenly leave his comfortable home in HARAR and jump in his Jeep to drive all the way to the border, just only to spend a couple of days with the guardians of the Last-Frontiers of the Mother-Land.
He would simply sleep on the ground with a blanket and using the 'KODDA' (army water bottle) as his pillow. He used to do the same thing in KOREA while the Ethiopian Army was courageously fighting for PEACE & DIGNITY among Human-Beings.

Whether we know it or not this was a major turning point in Ethiopian history. If General Aman Michael Andom was given the chance he would have corrected the wrong action that was done by Haile Selassie to annul the fedration between Ethiopia and Eritrea. He would have resolved the Eritrean question peacefully then that would have saved 50 years of lost opportunity and development. Whenever you have people who want to solve political problems with guns the problem never gets solved, billions are lost, the country remains poor and western sponsors are happy selling arms and staying rich.
He is hero for our country and these are the mistakes we keep doing in Africa just to get the chair not for the country.

It's ironic but yes that's true "Andom" is derived from "Andi" means central pillar of a house.
