I recall Paul Harrell speaking about the Miami shootout. One of the officers had practiced his marksmanship for years and was the best shooter in his dept. But on the day of the shootout he dropped his eyeglasses and was unable to make any good hits. Harrell pointed out that wearing a simple retention strap on the officer's glasses could have changed the events of that day. Things are never easy or simple. R.I.P. Paul.

The observations here are spot on. I’ve been LE for nearly 30yrs, which included 18years with tactical teams. In addition I served with the Marines for 10yrs. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time behind a trigger professionally and recreationally. That said, there are some I’ve met in the cooperative world who exceed my skills some aspects. I’ve been directly involved in a few OIS incidents. The resulting outcomes were considered above board. I truly credit it to good base training, progressively more challenging training, mindset and physical fitness. Even now, just as a semi retired cop working part time, I put reps in each month which included stress shooting tasked with decision making pressure. When you press that trigger for “real”, you better know morally and legally, that it was the needed and proper action.
He had to have missed on purpose. Grab a normal tape measure, a flexible tape measure, a cardboard box, and your (safe) firearm. Lay 60in of the normal tape measure on the ground and put the front edge of the box (the assassin) in front. Stand at the start of the measure with your (safe) firearm and take a shooting stance. Drape the flexible tape measure over the end of your firearm and see where it falls on the normal tape measure on the ground. This is to measure your wingspan in a shooting stance + the length of the firearm. For me with my G45, starting from zero it fell at the 22inch mark. 60in minus 22in is 38in or 3ft 2in. I’m sure a bigger Secret Service Agent would have a longer wingspan than me. I know we don’t measure like this at the range or in combat, it’s purely distance-to-target. But I feel like it really helps put things into perspective about how close the end of the barrel of the Secret Service Agent’s firearm was to the shooter when he missed those six shots. In my opinion, he had to have missed on purpose. Could have been a subconscious decision or a conscious decision, but definitely on purpose.
Mr. High information commenter, why don’t you fill us in on what we didn’t hear Colion say that makes his statements on how shooters miss from 5’ make sense!
I understand the stress. This isn’t a rookie cop. This is a secret service agent on presidential duty. This is supposed to be the cream of the crop. Stress inoculated. That is pathetic.
As a retired cop from NY, a police instructor, a police firearms instructor, Glock and Colt armorer and last but not least an NRA RSO, thank you Colion. While only minutes long, this was a pretty broad ranging, and chock full or reality video. The myth about cops and in general their firearms marksmanship, spot on. I will say this has improved over the years, but I know more civilians who are better marksmen than many trained and certified law enforcers. There are many reasons for this and a lot of them I believe revolve around threats of liability and denied indemnification. That alone can create the hesitation that gets cops killed. On top of that, the war on cops by bad guys, by our government and libtard anti-2A types. Your content is awesome. Thank you and please keep it coming.

What about that the guy was in bushes and behind a fence with plates hanging on it. Also I’m sure the dude didn’t just chill there. He was probably moving. I’m not going to call out an agent without having seen the actual lay of the land and how it went down. Did rounds hit the chain link? A post? The plates? My dad is a retired Physician . He was a reserve member of the local Sheriff's department for decades. We live in a rural community so the reserve members out number the full time members 3 to 1. My dad also owned a gun shop for decades. He was the gun shop owner on "God, Guns and Automobiles" that was responsible for filling out the proper paperwork for the "Free" AK47 give away if any of you remember that controversy 15 years ago. I say all this to get the this point, in 2009 he attended a competition that included about 200 Deputy Sheriff members, most full time employees from all around the state. My dad placed 1st, his friend and fellow reserve deputy (who was a full time paramedic and ambulance driver) placed 2nd. My dad literally used to shoot 500 to 1000 rounds a week. Most actual deputies don't shoot that in a year. My dad is 95 years old as I'm writing this so he doesn't shoot much anymore. He was also thoroughly audited by the ATF after legally getting the AK47's for the customers who qualified on the TV show. This was a secret backdoor way the Obama administration was targeting the legal sellers and making their lives so miserable they quit. That is what my dad did after the audit and intrusion into his personal life.
Out of curiosity, why did the ATF go after your father? What I mean to say is, if the winners of the give away still had to go through the background check in order to receive the AK, and the only difference is they didn't have to pay for the product because it was a free give away, what cause would they have to go after your dad? I was not into guns 15 yrs ago and thus had no idea of the controversy. Am I misunderstanding something?
The very reason I gave up my FFL…the ATF is and always will be a complete and total joke not to mention unconstitutional in every way…you do not require a permit or license to exercise a right.
Hey Colion, Happy New Year mate from Oz. Keep up with what your doing. It all helps to hear your positive Patriotic view & love of both country & people. Kind regards, Jim.
this also reinforces why everyday citizens should have the right to train and defend themselves. You can’t always rely on others, even the pros, to protect you in critical moments.
Did everyone forget about the armor he hung up on the fence to protect him? Maybe that's why he didn't get hit? If he missed the armor surrounding him as well then we got a problem lol
This is why the FBI switched from .40 calibers back to 9mm. Their Agents couldn't shoot for sh*t, so the FBI wanted those extras rounds that a 9mm hold. (.40 calibers have a bigger diameter than the 9mm, therefore hold less rounds in the magazine.)
Not much here. The shooter was shooting from concealment. Remember the agent saw the rifle barrel stuck through the fence. So, throwing rounds in his general direction to make the shooter miss, duck or run away is very much on mission for the USSS. It got the job done. Too many negative comments, from folks who likely never drew and put pounds of pull on the trigger. And, the protective detail agents work shifts. They are carrying 3 suit bags, and are traveling to the next location when they hand off the principle. So, they go from the details of traveling, dressing for the occasion, and mind numbing boredom to SHOOT/DONT SHOOT, knowing every move they make will be on every news network, talk venue, Colion’s Show and Congress. Every time.
Dude is literally Officer Martinez from Reno 911. You legitimately, even with a completely malfunctioning gun, CAN NOT miss from five feet if the gun is in any way shooting at all.
I don't train all the time, but I've practiced my draw enough that I'm reflexively within center of mass at 10 yards. At a distance less than that, misaligned sights shouldn't matter, as muscle memory should dominate.
Another DEI hire, DEI will be the downfall of this country. The military is suffering and sub par, look at the recruits they are taking in now. They have lowered the standards. Airlines are hiring pilots on DEI quotas, not who is the most qualified. Sad.
What does dei have to do with this? 19 percent of the agents are of color. This means 81 percent are white. Stop trying to blame dei when male whites dominate a field. Blaming dei is a scapegoat and unproven. For you to place this racist bs on a man of colors page us even more insane. When we are hired or qualifications have to be above norm than an average hire. If it's a bachelor's degree needed we have to have a masters plus prior experience.
Combat desensitized me to chaos, on the down side I became addicted to the adrenaline. Volunteering for every combat mission I could go on to get that rush. It got to the point where getting shot at became boring cause you know you’re already dead. I survived the war but now I am dying from the chemicals.
I see this repeated by the peanut gallery under this video, but it makes literally zero sense if you have even half a brain. Unless you mean Trump was also in on it, then it could make sense, but not otherwise.
Yeah, it doesn't make sense. Even the worst shooters in my department still have to score over 80% to qualify. That's from 5yds out to 25yds, various courses of fire like moving and shooting, single hand drills, shoot/no-shoot, malfunctions etc. No possible way secret service is missing that close.
Most people who shot pistols over a year can do the FBI qualification. Plus the last administration had a very low bar for secret service FBI and more.
I can remember reading G. Gordon Liddy's book "Will". At that time(late1950s, early '60s), one of the requirements for FBI agents was to be able to hit a saucer-size target at 100 yds with a .38 snubnose. I'm guessing those requirements are LONG GONE!
No need to use the sight at that distance.. One can literally shoot from the hip at 5 ft. and not miss… Alec Baldwin lethally hit the target without aiming and without pulling the trigger.. (so he claimed)..
The difference from me missing at the range and the secret service is that for me if something isn't calibrated when I get there it doesn't really matter other than the cost of the round. The Secret Service is supposed to be fully ready when they go on duty.
one reason for the extremely high round to unalive ration in vietnam was because "mad minute" recon by fire tactics. and entire group or unit would chose and area and shoot indiscriminately at it for a minute or 2 to precipitate return fire if the enemy happened to be there. it really shouldnt be counted in an accuracy comparison as no attempt at accuracy was being tried.
If you were offering these excuses for a every day cop I would understand.... but dude this is the secret service... they shouldn't hesitate, they shouldn't be rusty from not keeping up with training.... and they sure as hell shouldn't be panicking... and if the gun malfunctioned because it was not properly maintained, this is preventable issue that shouldn't put the presidents life in danger.
A great deal of truth was spoken here. Not saying they didn't let him get away, but everything you said here is true. As a combat Vet I can confirm no one "Wants" to kill another person, but at the end of the day "them or me?" I'm not gonna miss at 5 feet.

I'm thinking big daddy DJT needs to double up on his private security to handle the SS's job,
and then hire another security team just to keep their eyes on the SS agents.
I'd say to just fire all of them, but I'm not sure about the legalities or political ramifications of doing something like that.
5 feet? Then he wasn’t trying to shoot the guy.
That’s almost impossible.
Jesus!!! Even Alec Baldwin is proficient from 5 feet!
Well, his gun was proficient from 5 feet. According to him he never pulled the trigger.
@@jimeide3246😂😂😂Can’t say I disagree with that comment.
Helen Keller is probably more proficient than this secret service.
AND Alec didn't even have his FINGER on the trigger ! !
Some would say he’s deadly accurate
No, six misses from five feet is UNACCEPTABLE for anyone who works any kind of security or enforcement - PERIOD. Six misses at five feet is unacceptable for anyone allowed to carry - PERIOD.
Unless That WAS the intention.
"Allowed to carry" LOL. Have we forgotten what the second amendment is?
You can’t pass your Concealed Carry Test with accuracy like that.
DEI lowered the standards so low they can’t even imitate doing the job !
Statistically, he'd have better luck with his eyes closed. This is intentional!
@@winnon992 dawg not everything is because of DEI, just because one mf has dogshit aim or a malfunction it doesn't mean that ppl conducting tests are DEI mfs. On another note, I kinda disagree with ppl saying it was an intentional miss, if he was trying to do it on purpose why would he risk hitting the guy he was trying to let go? There are way more safer and convincing ways to let him go.
I love your perspective! You always bring some common sense with expertise to the conversation! Crazy situation, makes your wonder but yeah, they are still human!
Retired Federal LEO......There's NO way! From 5 feet? No way! Nuf said! btw, YOU LEFT OFF ONE 'MAYBE"...Maybe he did didn't want to hit the subject! That's the only explanation that works! (From 5 feet)
Agree 👍
@charlesstevens8913 Hitting the fencing and/or bushes causing ricochet can't be any part of the explanation?
@@denso414 Bullets don't ricochet from some tiny twigs in a bush. They don't ricochet from a tree either but just slam into it. If he hit a metal fence-pole then this could result in a ricochet, but 6 times in a row? That sounds more likely that he missed on purpose; especially when you're just 1.5 meters away from the target.
Another explanation is it was all a planned coordinated event and they were using blanks.
@@mototrials582 For sure, this thing feels like a staged act. Where did the bullets go? What damage did they do? IF they were live rounds, they went somewhere. We're not getting the whole story.
5 feet is point and shoot, you're not aiming with sights unless you're threading the needle.
Which with arms extended puts them at 3.5-4 feet😂😂😂
Thanks for making things clear Colion. It's nice to hear sound reason.
Any of those excuses you gave, every single one, is unacceptable for that position.
Absolutely
So suppressing fire aint an excuse? 😂
Exactly. You don’t even need to aim with sights from 5 feet away, point shoot. This is bullshit, and it’s obvious they deliberately missed him. Stop spreading doubt when there’s clearly an agenda
If I was an anti-gun advocate, I would use this video as a psa. You shouldnt advocate for guns and accept such reckless results from an elite pro?!
@@EnergyWRLD from 5 feet?
I was an LE fireams instructor and I can confidently say, 90% of cops CAN'T SHOOT! It was embarrassing. I'm not exaggerating when I say that 80% of the non-LE students I taught could easily outshoot 80% of the LE students. The difference? The non-LE wanted to be there and paid for the training because they wanted the skill and knowledge. Most of the LEOs that I taught constantly complained about having to be there, had no interest in getting any better than just squeezing by the mandated quals, were only interested in the OT pay and were the first off the range to head home. There's no way I'd feel safe with them protecting my family if I wasn't home.
Secret service aren't regular small town LE though
Yup, seen the same. They never train under adrenaline or winded conditions.
When I attended the Trooper qualifying course in 2014, I was in the top 3 of the class, only having experience with a 22 rifle and 9mm pistol before hand. (There were veterans in the course with me.)
Serious question, were any so bad they'd miss a stationary target 6 times from a range of 5'?
At 5' how do you miss?
3:48 lmao I'm rolling at how you just did a whole explanation about why they may have missed and finish with this🤣
Misaligned sights? At 5 feet? Come on man.
He was behind a fence, behind foliage. All the agent saw was a barrel through leaves, and the assassin broke and ran immediately.
@@maaz322 Dude...at 5ft, misaligned means nothing, and at 5ft you have a ~5ft-6ft long target to hit at least once...ESPECIALLY if you had the barrel of the weapon for reference on where the 1.5ft wide torso for your 6-13 half-inch bullets to possibly land in.
And don't get us started on carrying more than one magazine...
The SS agents with misalligned sights ... WTF!
@@centurione6489 Well if you watch and study what happened in Pennsylvania on the first attempt, I'm genuinely not surprised. They are apparently now as incompetent as they come.
Sights have nothing to do with this action.
You Don't Use a sight From a Distance of 5 Feet....You just Point and Pull ..unless You missed on purpose ....

EXACTLY!! I Just said that to someone!!
Not necessarily
Shooting blanks?
True, kinetic alignment doesn’t require aiming. It requires a functioning brain
“Just because someone is law enforcement or military doesn’t automatically mean they’re a great shooter.”
Truer words have never been spoken. I’ve seen troops miss a 50yard target consistently with a zeroed M4 and an optic
Why would they shoot their own employees?
Facts. The government hire them and act surprised.
exactly
😆😆!
To silence them.
Since they missed, we can assume that either:
1) it wasn't a real assassin, or
2) they really suck.
If it *is* a fake assassin, then why would the SS have hired them - it only makes them look bad, and bumps Trump's numbers. Remember, folks - look to see who benefits!
If, on the other hand, it was legit, then the SS simply sucks ass.
Heh. Alliteration.
Never ascribe to malice that which can be explained by incompetence - or stupidity.
Also: you assume the government can actually keep secrets - and we ALL know that ain't true!
Missing 6 shots all 6 times from that distance very suspicious indeed 💯
The agent didn't know he was shooting blanks...
@bradfordbrucker 🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️
How so? People always say it was the Lord who intervened when they narrowly escape death. Why is that hard to believe now?
I said about the samething, maybe he missed on purpose, just like they left a roof not manned or they let Trump on stage knowing there was a threat in the area.
Not suspicious at all, when you consider that secret service agents are all ego and no skill.
TLDR: "Dang that was crazy. Here's a commercial for ear buds."
misaligned sights at 5'?! nah man... Stevie don't even wanna hear that mess.
R.I.P. Paul.
This one thing from Paul's video changed my whole approach at getting ready.
Legend. 🫡
Paul Harvey? lol Harrell? lol wtf
I didn't know he died.
I don’t think that’s an argument for five feet though !
You're exactly correct about hesitation before firing. Several hesitations in my squad in Vietnam & we were desensitized.
The first rule of gun fight is that you never miss more than five shots if you are five feet away. you went full secret service, never go full secret service!
He wasn’t supposed to hit the suspect. That’s was the plan from the beginning.
Then why did he find him?
How does this make any sense please explain
@@ab3040 For show to boost popularity???
Exactly. This was to look good for the SS. Put trust back into them. It’s all fishy. The fact the guy even got onto the property is not passing the smell test. After the “first” attempt they would have been on high alert for more.
@ in my mind they wanted him to succeed in his mission. If you look at the 20 year old from PA how did he get that close and get that much time to take a shot. The grace of GOD SAVED Trump both times. The secret service just like many other letter agencies have been compromised.
The agent missing so many times is a powerful argument against magazine limits.
5 ft though? 5 ft?? You're almost touching the person at 5ft.
You don't miss a man sized target from 5 feet away. The agent was intentionally missing for some reason.
5 feet and couldn't hit him ONCE? There's NO EXCUSE for that level of incompetence, he needs to be FIRED.
Exactly! Wonder how long he would of a job with a private security.
I'm almost blind without my glasses and I could not miss at 5 feet. Center mass on the Blur, got it.
Any worse and he'd get a promotion.

I agree. Maybe another Biden dei hire. There's no excuse for that incompetence

I’m a retired cop and prior infantry. Five feet away you don’t aim, you’re so close you draw and fire. The only thing I can think of is the guy limp wristed his weapon cause I don’t know very many guys and yes I said guys that would miss at that distance.

What about that the guy was in bushes and behind a fence with plates hanging on it. Also I’m sure the dude didn’t just chill there. He was probably moving.
I’m not going to call out an agent without having seen the actual lay of the land and how it went down. Did rounds hit the chain link? A post? The plates?
If dude had just been lying on the lawn I’m with you.
Everyone hating on secret service is justified but this dude took the job and was out there in the arena. I’m going to give him the benefit of doubt he deserves.
Or girls... who have never shot a gun. 😂
That is what my dad did after the audit and intrusion into his personal life.
sounds like a swell fella
Out of curiosity, why did the ATF go after your father? What I mean to say is, if the winners of the give away still had to go through the background check in order to receive the AK, and the only difference is they didn't have to pay for the product because it was a free give away, what cause would they have to go after your dad? I was not into guns 15 yrs ago and thus had no idea of the controversy. Am I misunderstanding something?
The very reason I gave up my FFL…the ATF is and always will be a complete and total joke not to mention unconstitutional in every way…you do not require a permit or license to exercise a right.
Just so you know, as a retired LEO range instructor, most cops don’t shoot 1000 rounds in their lifetime. 500 is close.
5 feet? Even a blindfolded hoodlum with a Draco can hit shots better than that...🤨
Dude wasn't even social distancing and missed, that's crazy.

From 5', even if blind, it would be difficult to miss.
Thank you for understanding combat scenarios. Even when your life is on the line you can still hesitate is so true! Sincerely a Soldier...
this also reinforces why everyday citizens should have the right to train and defend themselves. You can’t always rely on others, even the pros, to protect you in critical moments.
At this point citizens have a better hit ratio too...
There is ZERO excuse that justifies this when your job is to protect the most important person in America! PERIOD!
Five feet? Are you sure? Not five yards! Unbelievable!!!
Five feet, fifteen feet, neither is excusable.

@@far-middleno doubt. This guy is weak
Every time.
Many of the critics are shooters themselves so this shows you most likely aren't hearing those critics out at all
Secret Service didn't even guard the most apparent building.
It's like JFK all over again.
I see a meme coming with a USSS agent wearing a Star Wars stormtrooper helmet.
"Only imperial stormtroopers are so precise."

Dude is literally Officer Martinez from Reno 911. You legitimately, even with a completely malfunctioning gun, CAN NOT miss from five feet if the gun is in any way shooting at all.
"Friendly fire will not be tolerated!"
Lmao
I don't train all the time, but I've practiced my draw enough that I'm reflexively within center of mass at 10 yards. At a distance less than that, misaligned sights shouldn't matter, as muscle memory should dominate.
I have a lazy eye without my glasses and have missed a soda can from ten feet. On the other hand, it's impossible to sneak up on me.

I didn't see that coming! 😂
Yeah but what he faced was a MAN SIZED TARGET
The guy was facing a bigger target much closer, there's no excuse for him
Another DEI hire, DEI will be the downfall of this country. The military is suffering and sub par, look at the recruits they are taking in now. They have lowered the standards. Airlines are hiring pilots on DEI quotas, not who is the most qualified. Sad.
D E I is meant to be a "Trojan Horse". I have collected data over years. It's used for a handful of reason.

It has been shown that it’s easier to hit your target if your eyes are open!😂😂😂😂
Only stormtroopers are that accurate 😂
Yep. Same concept, I think. The terrible shooting by the stormtroopers was all on the death Star, and it turns out that was a setup.
Combat desensitized me to chaos, on the down side I became addicted to the adrenaline. Volunteering for every combat mission I could go on to get that rush. It got to the point where getting shot at became boring cause you know you’re already dead. I survived the war but now I am dying from the chemicals.
Volunteered to go to combat, complains about the results... LOL.. Marines? 🤣

No Colin. Not 5 shots at 5 feet. All Law Enforcement has to pass range tests.
Yeah, it doesn't make sense. Even the worst shooters in my department still have to score over 80% to qualify. That's from 5yds out to 25yds, various courses of fire like moving and shooting, single hand drills, shoot/no-shoot, malfunctions etc.
No possible way secret service is missing that close.
that is basically point blank range, he was 100% in on it and didnt want to kill his CIA coworker

I always appreciate Colion's comments and thoughts. So spot on and informative. Thank you) 🙏
Deal was made
Most people who shot pistols over a year can do the FBI qualification. Plus the last administration had a very low bar for secret service FBI and more.
I've never seen anyone practice from 5ft away, probably an impossible distance to do anything but put rounds on target though. 😂
I can remember reading G. Gordon Liddy's book "Will". At that time(late1950s, early '60s), one of the requirements for FBI agents was to be able to hit a saucer-size target at 100 yds with a .38 snubnose. I'm guessing those requirements are LONG GONE!
They missed because maybe they wanted to oops💭 who said that not me 😂😂😂😂 ya never know….
They wanted to,amigo. LOL.
Damn, Luigi should have been hired lol
One word...

He missed on purpose.
DEI is not a word. It's a form of racism though.
WTF, this is the most elite security service on the planet ....or so we are led to believe..
Fine...give the SS agent any and every excuse for missing...how did he allow the "assassin" to escape when they were only 5-feet away?
Assassin was on one side of the fence; USSS agents are on the other side of the fence with the Trump.
