  • Heather and I went to Nickajack Dam to photograph a rare bird for our area. I used the Nikon D500 and the 500 f/4G VR, Heather used the D7100 and Tamron 18-400. We photographed Osprey, Great Blue Heron, cormorant, and the very very rare for our area brown Booby.

    Wonderful images of this cool bird. And the osprey and cormorant shots are really nice too. Heather is doing some fantastic work with that lens. It’s always so much fun to have a new visitor from afar show up in your neck of the woods. Thanks for sharing!

    Great images Phil and Heather. I especially liked the Osprey shot Heather captured with the catchlight in his beautiful eyes.

    Excellent presentation. I have Nikon D7100 , please tell me what are the ideal autofocus settings of D7100 for birds in flight.

      I'll probably keep that camera forever. I had a shutter failure with it once but Nikon repaired it under warranty. Thanks!

      @@PhilThach me too, I seriously can't find nothing better close to the price for what I do...I was shooting these elk and an older guy pulled up with his $1500 tripod with a gimbal plus a D5 with a Nikon 400mm f2.8...and here I thought I was the s#$t because most were using their phones...lolol

    Some great shots in there Phil and Heather. That guy looked pretty happy with his fish he caught. Lucky to get that bird so far north. We have a lot of those on the islands here, different colors though. Thanks for sharing the video. Wonder if that Z6II will be any better for bird shots?

    • @PhilThach

      I hope the Z6II improves birds in flight photography. Thanks, Adrian!

    Nice video, I own a canon cropped sensor DSLR camera, I want to upgrade my setup for bird and wildlife photography but for that a minimum of 400mm lens is needed which is as costly as Nikon P 950,should I consider purchasing a new lens or this camera. What would you suggest?

    Take a look at the Nikon 1 v 2 v3, I use it with my d7100 and 200-500 with adapter without losing light

      Sometimes I share the before edit version of an image but usually only if there is a dramatic difference between the two. Stay tuned, there are a couple like that in the pipeline.

    What camera gives sharp and fine clear images ... Which is great for image quality d7100 or d500 ?

    • @PhilThach
      @PhilThach  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both are great but D500 handles high ISO much better.
