Jill was a great friend and colleague at Nostalgiabus. Although she passed her test on an RT the powers that be decided that female drivers were not strong enough to drive non power assisted steering vehicles so she was allocated to Norbiton which had RM's only. She soon proved them wrong when RT's were put in there to cover an RM shortage and the sight of her strong arming an RT around Bentells corner in Kingston at speed bum out of drivers seat was a sight to behold ! Nostalgiabus's RF and GS proved no problem to her either.

Saunders bodies (and Cravens) were only ever fitted to AEC chassis. Only later Park Royal and Weymann bodies could be fitted to either AEC or Leyland chassis. Great video, as always.

OK - thanks for that. Jill went on to work for Roy at Nostalgia Bus. So likely also drove the occasional DMS.

@@deansullivan9077 Seeing the picture of Jill in the front of DMS1626 brought back memories of April/May 1987 when I was in training with London Buses (as it was then) This was one of a number DMS trainers that was put back into service at Norbiton for the cut price Kingston Bus network. This one along with 1889 and 678 I drove in training passing my test in 678 all went back into Norbition. There was a lot of understandable staff unrest there at the time with the impending changes (pay cuts longer hours etc) Whilst out driving 1626 in training we popped into Norbiton for a lunch break and walked into an unofficial union meeting in the canteen which was very hostile and got told to do one so we retreated to Fulwell Instead.
