I realised something while soloing quests, the hunt becomes way easier when you're not bringing your palicoes along. Mostly because the palicoes only distracts the monster, it becomes easier to predict the monster's movement when it's only target is you.
I’m trying to ween myself of my dependence on them, as it is the only way to truly git gud at MH. I do miss my Gathering twin kitties though - with their stealing abilities it is like 50-100% more monster parts in the end... :/
Breaks both horns in 2 minutes my party takes to break it 20 minutes and then after few hits more dies.... This shows how efective attacking the weak point of a monster really is. Canta you're awesome !

@White Samurai While it might help, we'll see some inevitable changes that'll make him faster and tougher to hit. There's a famous video somewhere comparing pre-World Rajang and World Rajang. If you can find it i highly recommend it since it describes why monsters need to be more aggressive in World, else they'd get rekd and it's probably what we need to expect
For anyone who's still here, and/or looking for advice for Alatreon; Flash when he's flying and doesn't have frost around him- Flashes won't work if he's enraged and flying-
Honestly you shouldn't feel bad. I prefer to solo Alatreon. Multiple people can actually make hunting him harder because he tends to run all over the place.
It's a little sad that it always needs a youtubevideo to convince others or yourself of strengths and weaknesses... Self investigation by simple practicing seems to be a matter of impossibility xD

This is clearly the Tigrex Hammer, but isnt Grimclaws superior? Same Stats but +10 Affinity instead of Minus, and build in Meditationskill, if I remember correctly.
The full set give you elemental and critic element,so it's shit if not used on mixed set. The weapon have always white natural (long) sharpness and are generaly the best choise for dragon element weapon in this game

Do solo ala runs and focus on the head, when I was playing tri I was scared terribly by ala in my high rank rathian armor, when I got used to him (and used dober armor) ala was my pet, I finished tri with 50+ ala kills but I had mastered him by like 20sumthing and gotten used to him in like 10
Just do a monster over and over again, at some time you will know what he does after which moves or in that case, when he will face his head towards you

I wasn't actually going for a speedrun, just wanted to try a different approach to confirm a theory I've had for a while. Did this 2nd try on stream today. Got 12:05 first try even though the run went to shit after the first KO. It confirmed my theory though and I knew that I could do it better, so I tried again and got this.

BLAZER MH you are actually wrong and Andira Santosa is right. well, a hot drink gives 10 def, not 5, but it does not give attack while a cold drink gives you atk with polar hunter.
+Andira Santosa I think the bonus from drinks is actually 4 points, not 5, if I recall correctly. Not that one point matters that much... Also, I can confirm that Polar Hunter increases atk by 15 points and def by 20 in cold areas, so Tropic Hunter should be the same, but for hot areas. (perhaps with 20+ for atk and 15+ for def, instead)
Old Alatreon didn't age well. Iceborne Alatreon is much more dynamic and fun to fight, puts to real use his mastery of every element and has the face of a dragon instead of a snake. He no longer switching to the opposite element after both his horns are broken (thus following EJ likely fatal if he is not killed before 24 min) and he would be perfect.
there isn't much of a benefit to be gained by iframing the roar so I never bothered to learn it, at least not to a point where I could do it consistently.
actually, on a second thought, you could try to get a golfswing in if you use that extra time to position yourself properly and try to bait a headturn but you gotta be careful not to get hit by one of the geysers in the process.
That's gonna be pretty difficult though. But I'm sure with plenty of practice you can master that and get a faster time. You did say there was room for improvement.
Finely someone noticed it, with Helios armor in tri, I stund him first time in 5sec first super hit when he scream second knock him down now I'ts rlly hard so like him, I play alone, easier to get the head when he turn around i'm not as good as him with my 16:33 but It's faster than playing with ppl that now noth of this Monster and atk randomly... and get all time hitted by his atk
Well in Gen there are a lot who are subquest farming, the fastest way to get horns very quick. There's usually 1 LBG who sleeps and paras, and the rest brings bombs and hammers down the head when paralyzed. takes like 3min or something :)
+TheAzureKite I solo Ala in 20 mins usualy (my best so far was 16:37) I don't rlly like subquest farming even if it's rlly useful ^^ I've used it for elder dragon gem in mh4u cause it upsed me (subquest teostra wings) but vs ala i never used it, exept when i was practicing solo against him and thenfirst attempts needed to be ended that way ^^
Nice, never tried it actually. Got some few Village quests left, before I start soloing Multiplayer...these damn rajangs and s.rath/g.rath in arena. God damn. I feel like they are extra hard just in these quests, maybe it's my imagination though.

If you're going for the horns, get a Status LBG: Sleep -> Bombs, HAMMER TIME done. 20s

i'm not as good as him with my 16:33 but It's faster than playing with ppl that now noth of this Monster and atk randomly... and get all time hitted by his atk
Well in Gen there are a lot who are subquest farming, the fastest way to get horns very quick. There's usually 1 LBG who sleeps and paras, and the rest brings bombs and hammers down the head when paralyzed. takes like 3min or something :)

I solo Ala in 20 mins usualy (my best so far was 16:37) I don't rlly like subquest farming even if it's rlly useful ^^
I've used it for elder dragon gem in mh4u cause it upsed me (subquest teostra wings)
but vs ala i never used it, exept when i was practicing solo against him and thenfirst attempts needed to be ended that way ^^
Nice, never tried it actually. Got some few Village quests left, before I start soloing Multiplayer...these damn rajangs and s.rath/g.rath in arena. God damn. I feel like they are extra hard just in these quests, maybe it's my imagination though.

Cesar Mtz Technically Cantas videos aren't speedruns. If I recall correctly these are just normal hunts to him because he's been playing for so long and decided to upload them. He does sometimes do requests from fans though.
