So I used my OCR A A-level Textbook for this value, and as far as I can tell it’s general use, and for vague and low level responses, whereas 2.5 is used more in more Modern Cases as it’s easier to be more certain that it is Ionic, and that electrons have transferred completely, I hope that helps

according to uplearn, an ionic compound forms where difference in χ > 2.5, which compared to ur difference its 1.8
