    Many thanks, Andy for the work and research you do in putting these films together. It's amazing to see the "scar" of the old canals on the landscape from a drone's viewpoint and how, in some cases, progress completely obliterates canal history. Looking forward to the next.

    Again another valuable video of the keystone work that the canal system did for the industrial revolution.

    Amazing how the canal the southstaffs railway line the A5 and the toll road all went around the saxon hoard field over the years.

    I have been looking forward to seeing a return to the ogly locks and Litchfield canals!!! Yea!!!! My favorite segments if I am being honest.. the drone footage Great! Super excited for the rest of the series Andy! Cheers from Missouri USA buddy!!!!

    Just about to go through standedge tunnel and found out that it took 25yrs to restore the Huddersfield canal to use with about 78 locks. 30 locks on the litchfield branch should be achievable

      Its entirely achievable although its challenges are different to the HNC. The Issue for the Lichfield is the massive web of roads which have been built over its line but with patience the main ones have been overcome long before the restored canal reaches them. Enjoy Standedge - its one of a kind.

    I suppose this section of the reconstruction of the canal will be very challenging, as is goes through many private properties near private houses. I hope the L&HCRT can persuade the owners that it will make their properties more attractive if they sell the parts needed for the canal...

      They own the top lock and the two adjacent cottages but I dont know the plans for the next four. It seems that an option is to kink the canal into the field to the south and build new locks to the side of the houses.

    The new aqueduct looks to be higher than the adjacent embankment. Is the plan to move one lock to the other side of the M6 Toll?

      The eastern side is running high and the level will be dropped by a double depth lock. The base for this lock is already in place.
