Great video and nice surprise for the New Year! It's a shame how the Hogs destroyed the Milo to make harvesting a little stressful. I am not familiar with Milo so I have no idea of the bu. per acre or the value per bu. And or the profit margin per acre. I find it interesting and king of neat that you and your mom get along so well working together.
Those little moisture testers are handy we have one in every combine. Congrats on the extra combine should be an exciting upcoming year for you. Are you gonna need another trailer to haul the combine and another truck and trailer to haul grain. Or you using what you got?
I think we will take an empty combine trailer back on the second trip and get the third combine. Now another hopper I’m not sure yet. At least the beginning of the year the hauls are so long we hire outside trucks anyways so if we did get another hopper it would be later in the season.
Do you have pheasants down there? Do they eat the grain on the ground? I was wondering why we hadn't seen this milo harvesting video. I didn't realize you harvested it this late. I've seen a lot of hog videos. Do you hunt them? These are your fields? Thanks for continuing with the videos. You narration is excellent. I constantly recommend you to others. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy NY celebration and that all were healthy. Kudos to you all from SW Chicagoland.
If I accidentally over fill the 2nd hopper I have about 5 feet to travel to go back to the 1st hopper where if I were in the back of the 2nd hopper I would have to travel the whole length of the 2nd hopper to go back to the 1st hopper is that makes since. It’s pretty much a safety net if I don’t shut the graincart gate fast enough haha.
We have this one elevator by me that you can have 2 hand held moisture testers and the combine all reading the same but the elevator will be a point higher
when you pull up to the combine, do the two tractors have a Bluetooth tied to each trctr's gps system to automatically match speeds? can you set the exact number on your throttle? or you just 'know' (by feel since you know the harvest speeds and conditions)...?
The Bluetooth you are referring to is “machine sync” which is pretty handy but we don’t run it haha. I just eyeball it most of the time but we do have iPads in every piece of equipment that tells us how fast they are going so if you wanted to you could set F1 to your combine speed and F2 as your field travel speed on the IVT.

What kind of head is that?
It is a corn header converted into a milo header also known as a “Arro Header”. They are pretty sweet
