Thank you Kerri. Just came back and rewatched your binding video to refresh me before starting on the new October Bag of the Month pattern. Great method for binding!!!
@@valerieherrington3124 oh awesome!!! Most welcome! And thanks for writing!! I just saw the bag an hour or so ago from one of the testers… the one from Linds Handmade is so cute!
I just broke my machine making these bags I’m obsessed. I took a corner too quick and pulled the needle. You know what happened next.😢 I was binding the bag after I put the gusset together the way you do it here is excellent. I can’t wait to try this way.
OMG, were you able to fix your machine??? Oh I love this pattern too! Yeah, I get excited too sometimes making bags...I feel for ya. This is a game changer method!
Kerrie, I just got around to watching your BRILLIANT video even though you sent me the link a few months ago. Thank you SO MUCH! I feel much more confident attempting binding after watching this! I appreciate you sharing your tips and tricks. I have a similar problem with clips getting caught on my machine as well. I have a 2" roll of heavy duty clear packing tape and I apply a couple of overlapping strips to the offending edge, creating a smooth transition and problem solved. When the tape becomes grungy or gets a bunch of threads stuck, I peel it off and reapply. :)
Thank you Kerrie. Had two cut out, one done, my binding was awful, so the other one is just looking at me and waiting, can now give it ago again. Cheers.
This is a great tutorial to use in so many different designs. Thank you for your time making this binding tutorial. Look forward to more tips and tricks. Yes, I throw it all on the floor, learned it from Elenor Burns, was in shock watching her throw it all on the floor. Lol.
When I had my Juki 8700 I used Tex 70 thread . I have a Juki ddl 1181n walking foot machine . Loved my 8700 but making bags easier with a walking machine can’t wait to try your binding trick
I use Tex 45....I can use 70 but prefer 45. You're lucky to have two machines. I don't have issues sewing bags.....There was one bag once that I had some trouble..... and even the designer put out a mod for the strap shortly after release of the pattern. Good luck!
Thank you so much for this video. I really liked your teaching style - no rushing, pleasant voice, and attention to detail. I sincerely hope you keep producing how-to videos!
Thank you very much! Appreciate your kind words! I am planning my next one!! I received permission from two other designers to do their bags! I have a list going. Thank you!!!
Loved this video thanks so much- subscribed. as a newbe bag maker your tutorial was brilliant for binding. thanks hope you do more and more videos on how to make bags. xx
Great video. Thank you so much for sharing your technique. Love your attention to detail. Slow stitching and thread changes make such a difference in the end product. You should continue to teach as your a natural at it.
I just watched your entire video, LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED! You’re such a good teacher (and an amazing sewist!) I learned so much from you in just one video. Had so many jaw drop 😱 mind blown 🤯 moments! Please keep making videos (if you enjoy doing it) YOURE AWESOME!!
I have never seen binding done this way before. I'm in the middle of the Mav Pack at 120% and plan on binding it. I plan on giving this method a try. Thank you for your tutorial. :)
Awesome Job! You are a natural. Great teaching abilities, and I love your attention to detail. That truly shows in the end product. Thank you for the video. You have a new subscriber. Can’t wait for your next one.
I've been trying to figure out how to change the pattern to bind the raw edges and cam across your video. So glad you took the time to make it. Are you using water proof canvas for your binding strips? I saw binding added to the gusset in another video and thought it was so clever.
Ahh no, it’s waterproof canvas. I have started hearing about people using olyfun for the binding, but I am not an olyfun fan. In comparison, it will give the bag less structure. It would behave the same when attaching it and that you can also cut it vertically or horizonally…. So that’s easy. I can’t see why it wouldn’t work on a bag- that maybe needed less interior structure. It is cheaper- but, it’s cheaper. Eh, maybe give it a try and let us know how it goes!
@@Wendy10910 I believe it’s one and a half inches because I like a little extra to play with because I like to use Paracord in it and I want extra to be able to get around the Paracord.
Just ran across your video. Two things how wide is your Teflon foot? Looks like you did two passes so what would final seam width be. Also do you cut your own binding,
I do cut my own from wpc- vertical or horizontal. Bc woc doesn’t have stretch, it doesn’t matter what direction you cut it so make it convenient. My foot is 1/4 wide, narrow Teflon zipper foot, so give a nice 1/8 edge.
Oh I believe I used a great pair is scissors my husband ordered for me- let me grab one! Hope you see this- sorry I missed your question- I do scroll periodically but sometimes they are hidden
They were ordered on Amazon. They’re “Engineer” brand scissors- from Japan. Be forewarned… I’ve cut myself a few times and it’s painful. Regular scissors, not painful, these ? Extremely!!
Because wpc doesn’t any stretch, it does not matter in which direction you cut it. Also, we are attaching the waterproof canvas to the Gussett and then clipping corners….. no stretch needed!
it doesn't matter how you cut wpc...vertical or horizontal bc it does not have stretch...so use up that funky extra pieces...you can use smaller pieces and overlap them if you want to use scraps

Thanks for the great video. What Juki machine is that and does the table its on come with it?
It is the a juki 8700 and yes, the table comes with it. Love this machine.
Love this technique!!! Were you using olyfun for your binding fabric? I might have missed you identifying it.
Ahh no, it’s waterproof canvas. I have started hearing about people using olyfun for the binding, but I am not an olyfun fan. In comparison, it will give the bag less structure. If you use clear tap or duct tape to cover the edge of the sewing table/machine area where it gets caught it will eliminate the catching problem.
@@terribushnell1145 thanks for that tip!!!!

Yes, 26x1.5”
I love that foot on your Juki, please what is it called.
It’s called a narrow Teflon zipper foot
What material are you using for your binding? How wide did you cut the binding? Thanks for the video.
I am using waterproof canvas and you can cut this vertically or horizontally bc it has zero stretch. So use up those odd shaped pieces!
I believe she said at the beginning of the video that it's 1.5" wide.
