I wish more people knew what a compressor even is. It's something 95% of people will never notice when set up properly, but us 5% appreciate it all that much more.
Seriously, man! So much warmth out of these two in combination. People are seriously seriously sleeping on the ART analog gear. I can’t wait to try out some NY compression style vocals with this thing. It’s going to make rap vocals sound FAT lol
Hey bro great video, I see you finally got your compressor lol dope. It doesn’t sound bad on your setup. Me if I was gone get another one I would use it as an insert in pro tools for mixing stems since it’s a 2 in 1.
Yes lol. I bit the bullet and finally copped and can say with confidence, I enjoy it. I still have so much more to learn with this thing in order to find the best overall settings to run it through. This was just a quick setup, maybe 5 minutes of getting the levels set and just running with it. We’ll maximize it here soon. I wanna get a different interface with more outs so I can route my songs through it when doing my mixing/mastering. Perhaps a motu 828es or audient id44? 🤔 not for awhile at least, I promised I wouldn’t be buying anymore gear lol
@@UndergroundSoundProductions we always promise not to buy more gear but always due 😫😫lol but yea those are great interface choices or u might wanna do what I did and look for an used apogee Symphony I/o great conversion and you can customize it how you want up to 16 ins and outs. Mines I have 8 which is good enough for me right now until I get more outboard gear. Most of my gear sits on my mix bus and I never go back In record my final mix to the tascam da 3000 at the highest quality 24bit 192hrz
Bro your videos are great lots of great information. But for the love of God could you find a way of putting the camera in-front of you so it feels like your actually talking to us? Feel like im eavesdropping on your convo with someone else 😅
Good vid ‼️ I got the Mpa i definitely plan on getting the Vla I feel both together will do magic and I could definitely see that in you setup but what would you recommend for the eq I’m working on my personal setup we kinda in the same boat equipment wise lol
and still so much more to improve on! My goal is to figure out this vocal chain by the next week or so and bring you guys a much more in depth video on this chain for vocals. Love it so far 😍
@@UndergroundSoundProductions facts man that’s the thing with being an engineer and artist you’re never satisfied with ur sound but i love it lol🔥 we goin be at the top soon man
Yo Ty! Thinking to get some outboard gear. So I have an Art Pro MPA II like yourself also, but thinking I need something else to beef up my rap vocals and just give it that sauce. Shall I get the KT2A or the VLA II? or both? Mainly for the same use you mentioned in this video... Some help would be appreciated thanks!
I think the 2A holds its own. Both are great for their own thing. I will of course do a video comparing the two so stay tuned! I’m looking for someone to come over and give me a verse so I can track them through both comps so we can also see how they apply to a rap vocal
Dope video bro. So I have basically the same set up but I use the audient id44 for interface. My question to you is I was recommended to run my VLA compressor directly to mic then output into the input of MPA preamp then output that into the id44. Any suggestions I see you ran yours the opposite way I want that clarity for vocals
Tbh I’m probably gonna get rid of it. The only thing stopping me from selling it is the gate. I love using the gate but at the same time it’s not that crucial. I could always use a gate plugin too anyway

Sounds great! Really adds a nice depth and character to your vocal. Sounds almost dead without it it's crazy lol Art Pro VLA II FTW!!

What settings would you recommend using the MPA into the VLA for recording strummed acoustic guitar??? I’m using Earthworks SR25 mics.
Just bought a ART VoiceChannel and LOVE this peace of gear. As old as this gear is (related to when it was released) it's fire!
beautiful sound!
Right?? In love 😍
You're the man Tyler thanks for the video
You bet! Thanks for watching!
You’re the reason why I bought the ART Gear can you please drop a tutorial on how to properly use record / master with the outboard gear
Doesn’t the Avalon vt-737 have a built in compressor? How good is the Arts compression functionality in comparison ?
Yes the Avalon has a comp and eq as well. The ART is amazing for what it costs. Super versatile and adds a lot of character

I gotta couple different things in mind. Being into all this stuff is tough you’re faced with constant choices and decisions lol
Got one today to pair up witn my NT1 you sold me on lol
Revive Audio can mod this unit for you for around $350 and it’ll take it to the next level.
What would the mod consist of them doing?

Good tips man!! Yea I can decide if I want to get into some 500 series racks or just stay in the computer
How do you connect them together with the Apollo interface.?
Thanks again, Ty!
No problem man 🙌

You’d probably want it Mic>Preamp>Comp>Interface like he does. It probably just wouldn’t be a good idea to compress your signal prior to the pre amp.
Dope🔥🔥
What about the dbxs?
